Cheating or embarrassment?

So nearly two year ago me and the oh used 2 condoms put of a pack of 8. We never used anymore....jump forward to last week. We were packing his house up and I came across the box had a look inside and there are only two left. Left it a couple days to have a think about it all. Next I asked him to bring them as we don't want anymore children and best to not risk it. He confirmed that there were 6 in the box (there was defo only two) he then said that there was probably more because the box was ripped and they must have fallen out (the box was fully in tact) he then comes to my house with 6 condoms.....2 with one lot number and 4 with a different one. There is zero chance I would have ever expected him to cheat but we did have a long distance relationship for the first year till I moved to be with him. Could it be a case of using them to "pleasure himself" and not make a mess or the more devastating other option?

If that was the case he would have used boxes of them and condoms aren't cheap.

And he lied to you.

Was that his excuse ?

I really don't know what to say. I think just confront him in a very direct manner but may lie about it and you may never find the truth out..

He'll definitely lie! He's used them while shagging someone else. And now tried to replace them.

That's not good at all.. I would have to know the truth. Yep he could have used them to pleasure himself but I somehow doubt it. He replaced them, so something is off.

If they had fallen out and got lost at the back of the drawer or something, he surely would have said 'oh that's strange there's only two in there'.

my ex did this. swore blind that the condom wrappers I found under his bed when I was cleaning we had used. took me about 2 hours to get the truth out of him and it wasn't good. I don't think posh wanks are very common so I'm leaning towards the other explanation. sorry op.

Thanks guys. Anxiety is through the roof. That's what I thought. If we had used them and forgot he would have just said oh we only have 2 I will get more. But to replace them is bizarre. I'm certain he wouldn't have used them for himself but it's the only reason I could think of other than he cheated. I honestly would have never thought he would do it. Maybe I need to just swallow the anxiety and just ask him outright to explain himself

You’re right to be suspicious... but Are you sure you didn’t already have niggles in the back of your mind? Because to me memorising how many condoms you used two years ago is really weird... and then to check the numbers on the packets to see if they belong together... surely you must’ve had reason to do all that? Doubt already there?

I knew there was 8 in there when we checked if we had enough and we used 2. Never had any niggles in the past. Which adds to the confusion of it all because I would never has suspected a thing

Sorry also I knew there was two left so when he brought 6 he left them very visible in his wash bag so I just looked to see if they had the same expiry date and noticed that they had different expiry dates and differing lot numbers that's how I realised he must have replaced them

Hes definitely used them to cheat. Otherwise I dont think he would bother to replace them. Doubt he will tell you the truth.

Yeah, he's lying to cover something. I doubt it's a posh wank as he wouldn't have gone to any lengths to still show 6 in the box.

Another possibility - he took some out with him on nights out on the off-chance he might need them. Didn't use them, but they didn't get put back.
Less awful than actually using them, but still had the intention of possibly doing so.
How devastated would you be if he'd been less than faithful when you were long-distance?
If he was honest now would it help?

I am diagnosed as infertile, but weirdly we had a positive pregnancy test I was told that I have blocked tubes. After the test turned negative and the doctor confirmed a chemical we decided to use protection so we used two whilst my pill was kicking in
