Do you know your DP's phone passcode?

I see threads all the time with locked up phones and people wanting to snoop but can't due to password changes/never knowing it etc. Do you know your DP's password? I know DH's and he knows mine. We don't snoop (to my knowledge) but I'm always able to get in if I wanted to, same for him. I thought this was normal?

Is it not the done thing? Do you know your partners passcode? I'd be very suspicious if he changed his without telling me/if I'd done the same he would be suspicious.

It was the same as mine. No particular reason such as wanting to check each other's phones, we both just used our bank pin number. As we had joint accounts and used each other's cards interchangeably, we had the same pin. Never checked each other's phones but may use the other person's if it was closer or had more battery.

HippyTrails · 11/06/2019 14:26

yes because they are the same on both of our phones for convenience

firstimemamma · 11/06/2019 14:27

I know his. He knows mine. It's not a big deal to either of us.

mycatisblack · 11/06/2019 14:29

I'm the techy in this house so I even have his email account on my iPad. He's just not interested and rarely sends emails or texts.
He wouldn't have a clue how to access any of my account data.

If he was going to have an affair, I think it would be conducted whilst out dog walking. Grin

purplelass · 11/06/2019 14:32

Nope.

He's not secretive with his phone, I just have no need to use it. If I ever have trust issues which meant I'd want to go looking through his phone then the relationship would be over anyway.

For me, I know this having been through it all with ExH.

Bluerussian · 11/06/2019 14:34

Mine doesn't have a passcode or if he does, he doesn't use it. I sometimes use his phone and it's always 'open'. Come to think of it, I don't have a passcode either.

DramaAlpaca · 11/06/2019 14:35

Yes, we have the same pass code which is a family pass code that we use for lots of things.

I wouldn't dream of looking through his phone, just as he wouldn't dream of looking through mine. We trust each other but also value our privacy.

Thatsalovelycuppatea · 11/06/2019 14:39

No I don't know his. I wish I did as I want to know, who he is talking to as he often stays downstairs on his phone, while I'm getting ready for bed and it's often really late say 11pm.

magicstar1 · 11/06/2019 14:57

We know each other's phone codes, and have no problem using either phone. I know his email login, and all bank details. I do any transfers in and out of his bank account. He doesn't know mine, but that's only because he doesn't remember - same reason I do his banking. He's just not numerically minded at all.

PissOffPeppa · 11/06/2019 15:45

He thinks I do. It’s one of those ones where the code is a pattern, not numbers. I know the vague shape of it but not exactly where it’s positioned. He has shown me several times but I forget. It doesn’t bother me as I have no desire to snoop.

For some reason, his old phone accepted both our thumb prints to unlock it.

BattenburgIsland · 11/06/2019 15:47

It's my birthday. Which is nice because I'm useless at remem ering numbers. Hes told me all his passwords and pin numbers for everything but I cant remember any of them... even if hed told me that morning I'd not be able to remember it by the end of the day!
But I know my own birthday lol!

greenlynx · 11/06/2019 15:48

We know each other’s passcodes, no problem with this.

booboo24 · 11/06/2019 16:55

Yep we know each others and have fingerprint access. So do the kids for that matter!!!

ravenmum · 11/06/2019 17:04

I'd be very suspicious if he changed his without telling me
So do you go in his phone occasionally just to check he hasn't?

Mine is thumbprint access, bf I have no idea.

ravenmum · 11/06/2019 17:06

If I did want to snoop, though, reading this thread I'd start with his birthday! (I have no interest in snooping. Maybe if he was unconscious and I needed to phone an ambulance with his phone.)

whatwouldbigfatfannydo · 11/06/2019 17:16

DP knows mine as I've asked him to do stuff on it before when I've been busy.
He's never asked for it.

He told me his once but I made a point of never using it and have forgotten it. I don't want to know it. I trust him completely but have bad anxiety and just don't want the temptation!

Laura221 · 11/06/2019 17:23

Yes we know each others. I dont ever look on his phone though. I occasionally reply to texts he gets if he is driving and I am with him. We also have linked calendars on our phones which means if we wanted we could look at each others emails. Never had the need to look though.

rollingpine · 11/06/2019 17:28

Yes. If we are both in the car the one who isn't driving has the other one's phone to read texts etc.

Used it occasionally when he's left his phone at home so I can contact the people wherever he's going so they can tell him where he's left it Grin

Tigger001 · 11/06/2019 17:46

He has told me on many occasions when we have used his phone for things but I have never seemed to retain it, I guess it's just not that important to me, I wouldn't snoop even if I did remember it though.

QueenofPain · 11/06/2019 17:50

Nope

kmammamalto · 11/06/2019 18:22

OP I think we have been reading the same threads! I had this exact thought earlier!
My DH and me know each other's passwords and codes and all else for most things. And all credit and card details ect. We do stuff for each other so it's kind of just come about by nessesity and definitely stayed that way as we trust each other.

viviene · 11/06/2019 18:27

Yes to my personal phone, no to my work one. My DP doesn't know the password to my work laptop either and I don't have a personal one. I would get fired if I given someone access to my work phone / laptop.

CitadelsofScience · 11/06/2019 18:28

I know his but I'd never snoop. I also know his pin code for debit/credit cards and him mine but we'd never just go and use them without asking. He knows mine too. Passwords that we rarely used are written down and we both know where they are so we could both snoop on all sorts of stuff if we were inclined.

The only time I really touch his phone is if he's on call and it's rung repeatedly and he's indisposedin the shower or loo

Gooseygoosey12345 · 11/06/2019 18:30

My fingerprint is stored in his phone and he knows my pin. I'd add him to FaceID but apparently having more than one face makes it less secure

IntoValhalla · 11/06/2019 18:34

I know his passcode, and he knows mine - we only have passcodes because we have a nosy 4yo who’s learned to use the YouTube app Hmm
I’ll use his for a quick google of something if it’s to hand and mine isn’t, and vice versa.
If he’s driving and his phone dings with a message, he will often ask me to read it to him and type out a reply as he dictates.
I’ve never maliciously snooped on his phone - I’ve gone through some WhatsApp messages in search of a phone number before in order to organise a surprise with him knowing, but that the extent of my snooping!!
