Do you know your DP's phone passcode?

I see threads all the time with locked up phones and people wanting to snoop but can't due to password changes/never knowing it etc. Do you know your DP's password? I know DH's and he knows mine. We don't snoop (to my knowledge) but I'm always able to get in if I wanted to, same for him. I thought this was normal?

Is it not the done thing? Do you know your partners passcode? I'd be very suspicious if he changed his without telling me/if I'd done the same he would be suspicious.

Yes. It wasn’t a discussion he just told me one day when he asked me to check something on his phone. If my phones beeps and I’m busy I’ll ask him to check the text for me in case it’s mum.

We don’t snoop on each other though.

RomanyQueen · 11/06/2019 11:51

Mine doesn't have one. I think if you need to consider snooping it's over.

Kanga83 · 11/06/2019 11:51

I know it, he knows mine and I would never ever snoop.

Flowerrose · 11/06/2019 11:52

He knows mine because it's been the same for years but I can't actually remember his. I've never really needed to use his phone though, I usually have mine near by and I have no reason not to trust him

Megan2018 · 11/06/2019 11:55

In theory I know it - but I have a bad memory and so keep forgetting it. I do not feel the need to know it, but we will often borrow each others phones if one has a low battery etc. I just have to ask him for it each time as I can't hold it in my head and he willingly hands it over. He remembers mine, but this is because he has an incredible memory for numbers and can remember any number given to him instantly.

I have never snooped on his phone as have no need to though. I gave him my phone over the weekend to sort out the memory on it as it was full, so he had full access to all of it. I didn't think twice as I know he respects my privacy too.

We don't know each others work phones codes though - that'd be gross misconduct for either of us so we keep that entirely locked down for GDPR reasons.

QueenoftheBiscuitTin · 11/06/2019 11:58

My fingerprint is on his phone and his is on mine. It's only really useful if one of us is driving and needs the other person to send a message for them.

AwdBovril · 11/06/2019 11:58

Yes, & he knows mine. He's always leaving it about, & doesn't usually take it to work. Same with tablets & laptops. If I wanted to snoop I definitely could. It's mostly just got hundreds of photos of DD, & weird maths stuff on there.

cheezy · 11/06/2019 12:00

I don’t have a passcode and I don’t know DPs

freshasthebrightbluesky · 11/06/2019 12:05

I don't know if he knows mine but I know his. I used it the other night to take a photo for him. He's not secretive with his phone and in theory I could look at it any time
I wanted but I never have because I'd hate for him to do that to me even though I had nothing to hide.

user1539506092 · 11/06/2019 12:05

I know his, he knows mine. He also has the Mumsnet app so I can catch up if my phones died!

Mrskisses · 11/06/2019 12:10

I don’t have his as I’ve never needed to access his phone and can’t think of a situation where I would.

ncqtime · 11/06/2019 12:13

No. Nor would I expect to know

Myheartbelongsto · 11/06/2019 12:52

Neither of us have a code on our phone.

SpoonBlender · 11/06/2019 12:55

We're both good at leaving our phones elsewhere, so we often cross-use. We know each others passcodes, have fingerprints registered, and have each other's password-safe passwords too for all that stuff in case one of us gets hit by a bus.

tinyvulture · 11/06/2019 12:58

I know my current boyfriend’s as he sometimes asks me to send a text for him, say if he is driving and we are running late. I’ve told him mine once or twice but doubt he remembers it.
I didn’t know my ex-husband’s and he didn’t know mine. Turns out he is was cheating!
Having said that, I don’t think it’s a red flag not to know. Some people like to keep their conversations with their friends private. If I had the slightest belief my bf would have any interest in reading my conversations with my friends, I wouldn’t have told him it.

Threeminis · 11/06/2019 13:00

Yep, my thumbprint works on his and up until my upgrade (facial recognition) his worked on mine. He knows my passcode too. No need to keep it a secret

DontTouchMyCurls · 11/06/2019 13:07

I don't have one. I don't know his. I used to know roughly the pattern, but then I saw a message pop up on the screen from his daughter slagging me off so now he's changed his password and keeps his phone hidden. Probably so I can't see them bitching about me

Itsinhiskiss · 11/06/2019 13:14

His passcode is my birthday and mine is his birthday.
We never snoop each other’s phones.
However, I would snoop without a moments hesitation if I suspected he was up to no good.

Nofunkingworriesmate · 11/06/2019 13:33

Yes because we have kids who ask for access and we use phones as sat hav and use which ever phone is to hand, codes are our birthdays, previously before kids and when we had a decent sat nav didn’t know code or care to know it. partner knows my PIN number as I give them card to pay while I go to loo etc. My parents went their whole lives not knowing each other’s PIN number or phone code as it never come up
While not snug definitely secure oh isn’t a Cheater, i do feel for folks that have to be vigilant it Must be shit

TowerRingInferno · 11/06/2019 13:33

No, and he doesn’t know mine.

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 11/06/2019 13:50

We both have the same passcode for our phones. I don't look at his phone, I don't think he looks at mine either.

Pinkmouse6 · 11/06/2019 14:13

Yep we know each other’s, it’s just useful to use the phone closest at the time. We don’t snoop.

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 11/06/2019 14:13

No. But I've never been bothered about knowing or wanted to snoop. I'm sure he would tell me if I really wanted to know.

TeaForDad · 11/06/2019 14:14

We know each other's.

We don't look at each other's stuff.

This is nirvana for me, open and trusting. It would be strange to have locked areas from each other

Mintypea5 · 11/06/2019 14:20

We know each other's passcodes. We play Pokemon go and if one of us is nipping our somewhere the other will take their phone too to make sure we don't miss out in any goodies. We also store various bits of info on each other's notes etc.
DH also has a game on his phone I love playing but refuse to spend £10 on! So often I'm doing that in the evening when he's busy with his hobby
