Poll, Y or N - would you want to know?

Thread sort of off the back of another thread.
But surprised how many people advise against telling a new wife that her new marriage is based on lies.

So, if your husband had been cheating on you in the run up to your marriage would you want to know or would you think ignorance is bliss.

I'd rather know myself. I've wasted too many years on an abusive man. It's better to get used to being single.

I vote - Yes, have the information. Awful though the shock may be.

I'd DEFINITELY rather know before deciding to have children on the back of lies.

Guest6565 · 02/08/2018 18:52

eh yes

Aprilshowersinjuly · 02/08/2018 18:53

Yes.

YeTalkShiteHen · 02/08/2018 18:53

Yes.

However difficult, a relationship based on lies can never be a healthy one.

Also, the wife deserves to know so she can decide whether to stay or not. To remove that choice from her is manipulative and self serving, neither of which make for a good husband.

Thingsdogetbetter · 02/08/2018 18:53

Yes

ImAGoofyGoober · 02/08/2018 18:54

I’d want to know.
I acknowledge I would also question the information given to me though and might not necessarily believe it.

DearMrDilkington · 02/08/2018 18:54

Yes

Screaminginsidemeagain · 02/08/2018 18:56

Yes sooner rather than later

YaLoVeras · 02/08/2018 19:00

yes @Imagoofygoober, I think it'd be natural to question the information and its source and the source's motivations, but still that is a gut reaction. Doesn't mean that the person who reacts with incredulity wishes they'd remained in the dark

Sorry, posted too soon.

Yes indicates a certain level of self esteem. If you vote no, you’re not likely to have enough self-esteem to say so publicly.

Yes I'd want to know. But I still think it's not up to op on other thread to tell her. It's not her fault and could cause her a load of hassle and upset.

DramaAlpaca · 02/08/2018 19:11

Yes

Faez · 02/08/2018 19:13

Yes she should tell the wife, those asking what OP wants to achieve.. well to be a decent human and not allow someone to be duped
