I paid £30 to be cheated on basically.

My on/off (currently apparently on) boyfriend of 3 years casually mentioned going to (city) this weekend to see his mates, and asked could I lend him the train fare so I did.

Only he's actually in a different town meeting up with his ex.

I feel like less than dust.

Is the card immediately cancelled, though, or does it take some time to take effect?

reachforthestarseveryday · 03/11/2017 17:18

Clean the loo with his tooth brush. Wee in his favourite mug. Unplug the fridge...

Hugs, OP. Flowers

Leave with dignity. I'd be tempted to do some 'sabotage' too, but in the long run I think I'd be glad I didn't. It would only give him reasons to 'justify' his cheating.

I would leave a note requesting the money you lent him back. I know you'll never get it, but I'd do it nonetheless.

Nanny0gg · 03/11/2017 17:30

*I would suggest not shoving anything up his arse though, clearly his head is so far up it that'll be the first thing he sees

Grin

Sorry OP, but such a good thing you've found out now. Please don't let him worm his way back.

Apparently he just wanted closure and a chat with her, seemed taken aback that I was ending it.

Didn't take to long to come up with that nonsensical story did it.

He must think you were born yesterday.

Don't do any of the silly revenge things mentioned.... the best revenge is moving on and living a good life.

lovemylover · 03/11/2017 17:35

If he is your boyfriend of 3 years ,its taken him a long time to give closure to his ex,hasnt it?

Hissy · 03/11/2017 17:37

Oh you poor love! Good for your mum to lend you some money

Your bank should be able to arrange emergency cash if you have some in the account

Viviennemary · 03/11/2017 17:39

He's hardly a prize if he doesn't have £30 to his name and has to borrow from you. I'd say his ex is welcome to him. Just stay put in the flat. Why should you be the one who moves out.

Slaylormoon · 03/11/2017 17:41

@lovemylover exactly, she's not even someone he dated seriously or for as long as he has been with me, we were relatively solid for the first 2 years, but now obviously all that's been thrown into suspicion. Sigh.

Thanks for the advice, some of it made me smile. Unfortunately he took his toothbrush, so I didn't go for any revenge. I'm on the way to check in now, the silver lining is that the hotel shower is bound to be nicer than his!

Oh darling, are you up in the Port? It can be bleak up there when you’re feeling like poop.

What a tosser. It’ll be ok- practically you just have to get through til Monday. Only three nights and he can get all the closure he wants, any time he wants so long as he can afford the train fare.

If you’re struggling for cash you could try Airbnb or spare room. Plenty of accomodstion up there lying empty this time of year, might be cheaper than a hotel. A filmed walk through is a very good idea before you leave.

Emotionally, you will get over this. He’s a knobber of the first order, and clearly very confident in his bullshitting abilities to ask for money off you to fund his little trip. Takes some brass neck and no shame to do that. You’re better off out of that.

Blanca87 · 03/11/2017 17:45

If he was going for closure why take his toothbrush....

AcrossthePond55 · 03/11/2017 17:46

He took his toothbrush to "have a talk to get closure"? Uh-huh. Riiiiggghhhttt. He must really think you were born yesterday!

BewitchedBotheredandBewildered · 03/11/2017 17:48

Um, the last bit of your "walk through" was putting his keys through the letter box.

It would be such a shame if he was relying on you to be there to let him in and hasn't got a spare.

PhuntSox · 03/11/2017 17:50

He owes you £30 plus whatever your hotel costs are. If there is any food suitable take that too.

Slaylormoon · 03/11/2017 17:51

@BewitchedBotheredandBewildered Grin sadly I had spares, he's not locked out. Sent the vid, he's said nothing but I'm sure he thinks I'm not being serious.

Plant some cress seeds in the carpets and rugs. Water them in . Turn the heating on full blast. And leave.

PhuntSox · 03/11/2017 17:58

He doesn't think you are serious because he doesn't respect you and thinks he can manipulate you. He underestimated you.

You are striking a blow for strong women everywhere! Grin I bet your grades improve without him too!

dudsville · 03/11/2017 18:00

Good for you op. These stories often take a while on mn. I'm impressed with how well and quickly you've looked after yourself. We can't stop hurt from happening in our lives but we can act with dignity and respect. Hope that shower is a damn good one!

BewareOfDragons · 03/11/2017 18:03

I'm glad you're not buying into his line of bs, OP. And I'm glad your University will have accommodation for you on Monday.

Good luck. I think you'll do so much better without him in your life.

Sugarpiehoneyeye · 03/11/2017 18:03

Inspired. Kinda elegant too. Deffo will remember that idea. One day it might come in handy Grin
