I just miss him, not particular things as such, just the essence of John.
And if I think about that I just ache for him and tears just leak from my eyes.
So, mostly, I don't think about it I just carry on.

School was cancelled today but we are back to rain for now so there was no need really.

Willow hope you enjoy your day off even though it sounds so busy but at least it's a break from the workplace.

Day off is never a day off is it? He went in OK with biscuits he made for the teachers eventhough he tipped the tin and 32 Christmas cards he wrote over 2 weekends.

Just rain/sleet here now too, so the snow is being melted away.

Oh dear Jane I guess that they were cautious - hard to predict these things.

Snow stopped here yesterday afternoon and started melting straight away.
Ds2 cleared the front path when we got home from my parents at 8pm (I'd left ds2 and Charlie there then we stayed for tea after the bow trip.
Then cleared the patio.but not before we took the attached picture (did I post this yesterday?).
Miserable weather here this morning, but drier and brighter now.
Been to work for a few hours this morning as my mum could come over for a while.
Utterly exhausted - just having a sandwich and a drink and then think will have a nap on the sofa!

well, not sure what happened today.
DD1 and DGS went off to school/work. I had a shower, put washing in, did some housework and DD2 turned up . She had a Drs appointment, so came after it for lunch :) Then out to the shops , and to send off some overseas cards and a parcel. Having a cup of coffee just now , and then going to work on a blanket I am constructing for WH .
Its blooming cold. I hung some hand wash things outside, fool that I am - the dripping water turned to icicles . But at least we just have ice , and no snow .....
Cake - hope DS is okay, and he isn't brewing something ( it seems DGS' school said no cards , but he has already received one)
Willow - yay, cooker tomorrow. Its usually under the cooker that gets so grim here , and you don't know until you move it out of the way ( voice of experience-I have a bowl of really hot water and cillit bang these days .....!)
Jane - always the way in truth. but a day off in the cold winter, near to Christmas can't be all bad I guess .
Chasing - good idea to rest - your body is telling you.

Boòk i confess the space round sides of cooker is grim but wont have time to clean it when they change over they are too quick!. I cant pull the thing out on my own over the flooring as not doing my back in. I am hoping as new one is slightly bigger you wont see it😉 but will have the back wall to clean and repaint as no eye level grill on new one. Wont be done before xmas i dont think.
Did shopping (and forgot stuff) had coffee, got bits for presents. Blitzed kitchen did washing and glad i didnt put it out as it was raining before i knew it.

Appatently snowing in town yesterday all frozen today but not a lot really.
Still wet miserable and cold. Sea not so wild today though, was crashing high over the walls the other day. Sea front was closed off. Making tea and slurping sipping a glass of wine think i deserve it😉

It's been a glorious day here, freezing cold, but lovely in the sun.

Went spinning, then for petrol, then pick up Collage, then back on self to do Navigatoring shift, very quiet so I took off and wrapped a few presents. If I say often enough that I'm not looking at Collage until Christmas Day, maybe I'll last out till then. Out of sight, out of mind!

Willow, have sweeping brush/hand vac ready to 'clear' quickly whilst they're faffing. Then smile sweetly 'Gosh the other people didn't clear that very often, did they?' .

I'm re-reading The Liar by Nora Roberts. I think it's clever, and what an understanding she has of abusive relationships (my first marriage). Plus I know there's a happy ending . So feet up, hot chocolate to hand .

Been watching Nigella. I want that kitchen that pantry and all her locely bo ordinated implements beautiful colour. Oh and while santa is listening i want her hair her figure and her composure. (And her money😉😉)

Well, Cake - I would like it to be Gemma, but Joe and Katya seem to be the favourites . I think it depends on what you call busy - enjoying yourself with crochet while listening to the radio is not hard work :). So I hope you enjoy it when you get the chance.

Willow - I'm not sure I would like to be Nigella in truth - I don't know how happy her life has been. I always thought the kitchen was a set . She seems to change the equipment for each series , but maybe she gets them for free for the airtime ( cynical ) - she had an incredibly fancy spiraliser attachment, which matched her copper Kitchenaid I seem to think - it looked as if it would take her fingers off. ( I do love her recipes though - how hypocritical of me ...)
Selena - very disciplined of you, not looking at the collage . Can you pop a bow on it and put it next to your tree? I have read a couple of Nora Roberts ( and some of her J D Robb ones too) but haven't read that - may have to look out for a copy at the library. I'm on history at the moment - (Roman , about Cicero) but like to chop and change with my reading .

Isn't Nigella's current set in a warehouse on an industrial estate somewhere? I'm sure I read that. I've discovered my microwave/combi (that you can use metal in, still getting head round that!) 'roasts' veg in 15 minutes or less. That's exciting enough for me.

book, the box is really big, will retrieve it on Christmas Day, but I will stick bows on, great idea. Don't want DS to see it yet, or he might guess re calendar as he's on my wavelength all too often.

Our local hospital is doing a Poppy thing, knit or crochet poppies for something or other, I do know it's very worthwhile and I'm not being flippant really, just can't always see the reason to jump about and scream in ecstasy. When my colleague told me she had made 37 I was suitably impressed and decided I would get going too. She then said she never wants to see red yarn again, her eyes were tired, fingers/shoulders aching - so maybe I won't! The charity (or whatever) also specifies pattern, sizing, colour, has to have black centre and various other stuff. Hmm.

Ds2 is expecting lego as its traditional and not xmas if he doesnt get it! To be fair he usually spends hours on it xmas day so will give him one of the sets. Need to think of something for ds1 to make up the difference now.

Any ideas for tkd teachers dh who picks up my ds when i am working? He wont take petrol money.

Morning all. I think that either it's a set or it's one of these houses that rich people own and rent out for filming. I'd be very surprised if any celebrity chef cook in their own space although I think Delia did and Mary probably did/does at times.

With the forecast being -4, we left the heating to come on if needed rather than it being off till 6am, so a very fretful night as I woke thinking it's morning every time the heating came on. DS was awake at 5:30 anyway....yawn

Not sure how the day will go as I sent a poorly screaming one home yesterday, but the parents need to work (properly front lines) so I said I would have them as it's just them today. Guess we'll see.

I really don't feel that Christmas is around the corner. Maybe when we get our tree up at the weekend? DH finally spoke to MIL over the weekend. She said we'll see each other between Christmas and NY so that's perfect as far as I'm concerned.

Very frosty here this am, still not cleared.
Well morning going great...not. Delivery van broke down so now half an hour away. Had to phone work bout going in even later and they were ok thank goodness, next delivery slot was 22nd! Too close for comfort if something else goes wrong. Just means I lose out on pay, great.

Thankfully I am on with good staff so hopefully shift will go ok today unlike sunday.

Oh no, hope that they turn up with that shiny oven soon! How about an M&S voucher or Waitrose or whatever - means they could buy some treats they might not be able to afford otherwise.

Well, the small was kept at home which is the right decision, so I've been good and done some paperwork and shredding while watching day time telly.

They are here! Gave me a heart attack saying they had a double oven for me! Errrrmm no. But their misteak. And breath

Still here! Guy unpacked wrong cooker then had to repack wrong one! Still faffing with electrics. Am hoping from one foot to another! Thats 2 hours lost pay and cooker still outside. Someone has it in for me this week.

Very cold still here. I had to go out early this morning, and blessed DH for putting the car in the garage. (We don't normally bother) . I couldn't even get the bird water to defrost with a kettle of boiling water, so had to put some water out in a plastic tray.
Willow - with a baby , could you perhaps offer to babysit ( not necessarily at night) so they can have a couple of hours out together?

Oh FFS Willow make sure that you get yourself a bottle of wine on the way home tonight! I'd complain if I were you and see if you can get your delivery fee refunded.

Charlie and I napped yesterday afternoon then I had an email reminding me about the scouts agm so I quickly finished off the accounts and circulated them. Very quick agm then home and more puppy cuddles.
Didn't feel quite so wiped out today thankfully.
Snow had mostly melted here yesterday, just very cold this morning and all day.
I had the oil tank filled at the weekend so don't have to worry about running out now.
Boys had joggers tonight (brrr) and we are now all watching Stargate, Charlie is cuddled up on ds1's lap.

What a faff Willow, I hope the cooker is all sorted now.

Might have to find the Lego programme on catch-up, what side was it on.
