Oh dear - I just posted the 1000 thread. Hope we all find this one.

Selena hugs back.
I just miss him, not particular things as such, just the essence of John.
And if I think about that I just ache for him and tears just leak from my eyes.
So, mostly, I don't think about it I just carry on.

Morning
Cake oh hell thats not good, hope you dont have a busy day and get some down time.

Book enjoy the play, they are such fun to watch.

Been to skip, had to take kids to school this am, paid garage bill still need to go to bank but wasnt open and wasnt hanging around for half an hour in this cold!
Taken some stuff upstairs to make room for tree will rope kids in later to do the rest.

Need to get hoovering and washing out. All the fun of the fair here Smile

Chasingsquirrels · 08/12/2017 14:30

Hope he can get some rest this weekend to build see him through till the end of term cake.

Lovely for you to see dgs in his play book.

How's the sciatica Willow?

Charlie's not doing so great at night (tired face).
I'm manic at work (worked a full day Mon as we hadn't got him, had Wed off then my mum came over yesterday and today), to the extent that I'm worried about things. Plus need to sort other admin things.
And haven't really thought about Christmas and it's only 2 weeks now, it never creeps up on me but it has this year. People will just have to understand but I must get a few more bits for the boys (I've said no major presents for the boys cos we've got Charlie but I need to get them some things.)

I've had lots of down time and sent the boys off to gym while I watch Kirstie on the telly pretending to save people money by doing things like blowing your own glass baubles...

Have a lovely beef stew in the oven to eat once they're back with some mash - winter food. So cold, but only a few flurries.

Hope the play was good book, how are you feeling willow working tomorrow aren't you?

Good luck squirrel I'm sure people will understand. Hope that Charlie settles.

Willow2017 · 08/12/2017 16:46

cake not tomorrow last time was an extra shift.
Grading tomorrow up too early to be in Edinburgh by 8.30. Wouldn't mind but it never starts on time. Last time they had so many applicants to go through and ran out of time for the hall booking!

Sitting on a wooden bench for 2 hours is not my idea of fun!

Glad you got a breather. Can i come for tea? Sounds lovely. We are having chippy after work as to much to do. Kids been decorating a gingerbread house and tasting it of course.

SelenaValentina · 08/12/2017 16:48

Flowers and Brew to everyone, it sounds as though life is getting over fraught.

Where's Charlie sleeping, squirrel? Would a night light/loud clock ticking/radio on help , do you think?

How on earth do you blow glass baubles, cake? I thought everything had to be super hot and very careful to anneal. According to a Dick Francis book anyway!

Hope your day successful and enjoyable, book and willow, you're feeling better.

Collage thing from Max Spielmann not ready yet, but the calendar is great. Smile

bookbook · 08/12/2017 19:48

Evening all!
well, we had a fabulous time at the christmas play .
It turned out DGS was one of four different animals driving the story. All four were great ( proud grandma emoji here) . He just got a little bored at the end, and decided to do his last words stood on one leg ....Grin . The songs were lovely , and only one sheep was too shy to say their lines . All done and dusted by 2.15, and he could leave for the afternoon, so went to DD's for a cup of tea and lovey cream scones .
We even managed around the visit to sort out 3 Christmas presents , so list is being ticked off .
Chasing - you forget about the sleepless nights , he will settle soon hopefully .
Willow - what joy - a trip to the tip Grin ( though its strange about tips - ours is very well organised, tidy, easy to get to all the containers, helpful staff but when we helped with DDs house , theirs was a shambles !)
Cake - hope you are holding up. I have the Kirstie thing on tape to watch later. It's so surprising , when you know all these talented people, and how expensive their stuff is ... . ( I prefer my DD's wonky snowman from primary, made out of a sucker- to stick on a mirror- two cotton wool pads, two black felt circles for eyes, and a black bit of paper cut into a hat stuck on precariously . I suspect he will need some surgery this year ...)
Selena - I love those calendars - I still have mine from DGS' first year . Hope your collage turns up soon
Right - off to do my knitting
Have a good night all

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 08/12/2017 20:23

Indeed Selena she had to go to a studio and do a special 1-2-1 session with a glass blower. Not quite in my budget!

I was also thinking of a loud clock in with Charlie - we did this with a puppy when I was a child.

I'm thinking I will be off to bed soon. Quiet weekend planned. Some Christmas cards to write and baking biscuits for the teachers.

Good luck for TWD Willow and have a lovely day all x

Horsemad · 08/12/2017 20:52

chasing, you could also try a hot water bottle as well as a ticking clock for Charlie, I have heard this can help if he's missing his mum and siblings.
Do you give him supper before you try and settle him?

Hope the grading goes well Willow.

Tomorrow we are Xmas tree shopping Grin I'm a bit -fussy- particular about my Xmas tree, so I hope I find what I want early on!
It's not going up until next weekend when DS2 is back for the holidays.

I can't believe how quickly December is going, I am doing most of my shopping online as I loathe the shops any time but especially now.

Hope everyone has a good weekend, whatever they are doing Smile

Willow2017 · 09/12/2017 06:35

Thanks everyone. We are off shortly. Its cold and dark and going off for a long drive isnt inviting😀
Have a good day.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 09/12/2017 06:47

Morning. Yet another horrid night. Watching the grinch at the moment - could be worse! All icy here. Be safe Willow

I can't bear the shops either Horse I will ninja into our town just to click and collect bits on the 21/22nd and on the 23rd or 24th I'd like to go into town at dusk to have hot chocolate/look at the lights and laugh at all the people panic shopping. Wink

bookbook · 09/12/2017 08:17

Willow2017 · 09/12/2017 09:22

Thanks.
Finally in grading hall. Its freezing in here. They hadnt opened gates of car park at school luckily managed to park car and walk up to find nobody had opened the door so we were all stood outside freezing.

Will be a while before ds2 even starts. Going to read my book and try not to shiver😀

Cake sorry you had another bad night.

Book sounds like a lovely day.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 09/12/2017 15:48

Hope all went well today with the grading and driving Willow

Sounds like a great day book hope that you all enjoyed it.

Poor Charlie - I wouldn't want to piddle outside either Wink

We spent an hour in the park!!! and other than that DS wrote his Christmas cards, we did half of our baking and we're making curry for tea. He's been better today, so hoping bath and normal bed routine will help us all sleep.

Check in with you all tomorrow x

Willow2017 · 09/12/2017 19:20

DS thinks he did ok, he knew all the questions and did all the patterns so fingers crossed. Wont know until wed class.

Tree is up!
The rest of the decs can wait until another day. Tree takes forever to put together and dress.

Had a relax snooze after we got back.

Frosty already tonight, doesnt bode well for tomorrow.

Cake can DS do my cards to? Still need to get them done, got some in post already. So behind this year. Fingers crossed all that fresh air and running around will tire him out.

SelenaValentina · 09/12/2017 22:05

Grrr, wrote a post earlier on mobile and it disappeared!! Was mythering on about going to friend's 70th, who might be there re DH as he used to be the boss, sort of hoping weather would close in. It didn't, I went, knew only my friend and her 2 daughters as former colleagues doing other things, so chatted to nice couple, ate, then quietly withdrew!

The noise levels were major which doesn't encourage socialising in my book as I find it impossible to hear clearly, even with hearing aids (though was tempted to take them out but didn't Halo). Now home and in pj's, hot chocolate in hand Grin.

Hope everyone, children, grandchildren and Charlie gets a good night's sleep and that you can keep warm and toasty.

Horsemad · 09/12/2017 22:41

Got the 🌲 ☺️ Had lunch out too, so a nice day.

Just wondering if we are going to get snow tomorrow. Hope everyone's tucked up warm tonight Smile

JaneJeffer · 09/12/2017 22:50

Hi everyone, I don't know if anyone remembers me. I was on the earlier thread(s?) but was having a difficult time with elderly parents and then lost track and didn't manage to keep up with the new thread. Just saw this on active now. My DF passed away in November so I haven't been posting on MN since. Feeling a bit down at the moment. Hope you are all keeping well. I haven't read any of this thread yet.

Horsemad · 09/12/2017 22:53

Hi Jane, I remember you. Sorry to hear about your DF Flowers

JaneJeffer · 09/12/2017 23:03

Thanks Horse

DramaAlpaca · 09/12/2017 23:05

Hi Jane, of course I remember you too. I'm very sorry to hear about your DF Flowers It's not surprising you're feeling down, it's very hard to lose someone, especially at this time of year. How is your DM doing?

I also hadn't been on this thread until recently when it popped up in Active. I'm just so busy with work at this time of year it's hard to keep up. I'm looking forward to a break over Christmas to recharge my batteries & hopefully catch up with everyone here.

bookbook · 09/12/2017 23:12

I just came in to post, Jane -( I remember you) so sorry to hear your DF has died, and not long ago either. Join in and get wrapped in a hug, it sounds as if you need it Flowers
I'll just burble on ....
We had a lovely time today - a lovely Father Christmas , and we now have hand mixed reindeer food for the garden .
Basically just bumbled around this afternoon knitting and crocheting, watching SCD and a bath this evening.
Horse - our forecast has gradually downgraded, and now supposedly no snow, no rain either - it is a bit more into the Midlands I think.
Willow - well done to your DS , and you!
You organised lot - no cards written yet, apart from one sent to Australia, decorations don't go up until next weekend.
I do , however have all the presents sorted, even if they haven't all arrived yet
Chasing - so how did you get poor little Charlie to wee outside,? or have you a litter tray in a porch perhaps ( and who can blame him)
Cake - fingers crossed for a good sleep tonight ( and snap - we had curry for tea too)
Selena - I hate those do's where the music stops you talking and listening. I end up with a hoarse throat from the shouting .
Thoughts and Prayers - extra for you Jane and Juan also

bookbook · 09/12/2017 23:16

x post with you Drama it never stops does it, at this time of year. I feel very lucky that I have retired. It was always frantic, and cold and dark , rushing around to do everything and keep all the plates spinning.

JaneJeffer · 09/12/2017 23:25

Thanks ladies.

Drama DM is finding it hard and is a very lost without him.

book a hug is much appreciated.

Looks like we have lots of snow on the way tonight.
