Oh dear - I just posted the 1000 thread. Hope we all find this one.

Selena hugs back.
I just miss him, not particular things as such, just the essence of John.
And if I think about that I just ache for him and tears just leak from my eyes.
So, mostly, I don't think about it I just carry on.

Morning all, a 5AM start for the first time in ages Shock

The show was lovely but on the long side. Got #2 to get through tonight.

Heard from Juan she is keeping busy. Hoping to see each other next week. Have passed on all your love/good wishes.

book well done. Sure DGS will be fine. DS just says baaaah and does some group singing.

Hope you all got some sleep squirrel He is gorgeous.

Good luck for the day ahead willow and horse

Check in later x

bookbook · 06/12/2017 09:23

Morning all!
I have not slept too well due to a cough for the last few days, but no cough to wake me up last night , so slept in ....
aw Cake - he was doing so well too - it makes it feel worse some how.
Willow - its never ending for you , but at least ( hopefully!) you are letting your back rest and ease the sciatica.
Horse - bet you are getting more done at work without the bad boss :) Even when the DC are grown up, you are still Mum - both of mine have been brought up to be independent, and think for themselves, but I ( and DH ) still say - 'have you thought/remembered" xyz - I can't stop now after all these years !
Chasing - hope you managed some sleep after the excitement and settling Charlie in .
Lovely to hear about Juan
Right , off for a late shower. I am out for a Christmas lunch with my crafty club, then picking up DGS today as son in law is tied up with meetings
Have a good day everyone

Willow2017 · 06/12/2017 09:40

Morning all.
First thing on my list ticked off. Spoke to pastoral care and she is going to speak to ds2 today and then the others with senior staff present as they obviously are not accepting last warning they got.

Now for the other 20 things! Not sure where to start!

Good to hear Juan meet up Cake and she is hopefully feeling a bit better. 5am not good what a scunner after him doing so well lately. Hope you can catch some rest time today.

Book sounds like you have same cough as me and ds1. Wakes you up in middle of night when all the stuff collects at back of your throat. At least this morning it was 7 before it happened here 😀

Right better get dressed and grab the day by the throat

Chasingsquirrels · 06/12/2017 10:33

Have a good Christmas lunch book and enjoy your afterscholl with dgs.

Yuk to up at 5am cake, your line about him baaa-ing made me smile. Ds2 was a shepherd for 3 years.

I hope things get sorted for ds2 at school willow. Are you getting through your list?

Hope work going okay horse. I need to do a bit more online Christmas shopping.

We had an okay night, he settled and slept till about 1am when he cried so I came down and settled him and then slept on the sofa. He woke a couple more times but I just sushed him and he settled back down. He woke up at 5.30am so we had a play for half an hour then he went back to sleep until ds2 got up at 7am. Lots of play before school then he and I went back to sleep (together) for a while. Had another play and he's just asleep on his own now.

I can see my desk! Got a pile of stuff belonging to kids and some bits to sort but its done.

Still cant get through to jobseekers lot. No wonder they make misteaks!
But tax credits seem to be through (no communication from them at all) so thats a bonus.
Bit of an unsettled night, hope he settles quickly and sleeps through Squirrels. Just like having a baby all over again Smile

OOoh its cold need to put a jumper on.

Onwards and upwards!

Chasingsquirrels · 06/12/2017 13:54

I thought that was quite a good night Willow! He's been asleep on me most of the day.

Willow2017 · 06/12/2017 14:48

For a first night not so bad I suppose but I dont fancy going back to wakeful nights Grin (although we would love a dog tbh I would have to suck it up if we moved somewhere we could have one) Nice way to spend the day snuggled up with a puppy, I am jealous.

Cake in oven, sloes and apples on cooker, football table taken down to make room in kids bedroom, got the winter hats and scarves etc out and at the ready, washing taken down and sorted (sort of Wink )washing done but not hung up yet, having a hot choc and a sit down first. Stop the bus I want to get off for a while.

No call back from school yet, fingers crossed she doesnt when I am on school run.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 06/12/2017 19:36

Wow Willow you need a medal!

I think that you had a good first night Squirrel and good luck for tonight too.

Hope you had a lovely meal out book

It has been a ridiculously long day. DS now tucked up in bed. Fingers crossed and sleepy dust for tonight as I'm hoping we could sleep till the alarm goes off at 6:45 no chance

Catch up tomorrow.

Willow2017 · 06/12/2017 20:37

Oh dear gave myself a fright sitting in car at tkd. Was reading my book and dozed off! Only 10 minutes as i had just checked time but was dreaming and good ol Motorhead on the radio woke me up😃 was in mini panic as to where i was and what time it was. (Light in car had gone out) silly ol bint.

Need to get organised for sat early start. Have presents to wrap to take, borrowed things to take back to my aunt, double check directions, drinks to get.

My list is never getting shorter😄

How was the xmas lunch Book?
Fingers crossed Cake.

bookbook · 06/12/2017 22:50

Evening all!
wow, you have all been busy :)
I have had a lovely day. Christmas lunch was great - it was actually like a really good afternoon tea/lunch , but with a Christmas theme. There was miles too much , so we all took a doggy bag home Blush
I pulled my weight a bit later - picked up DGS and made a fish pie for all of us for tea. Came home and had a bath and have spent ages winding
a skein of wool into a ball, ready for knitting. Its been a bit of a pig, as it seems to have got twisted somewhere and ended up in a right mess
rather tangled. It was too expensive to sling in a corner ( besides being for a Christmas present) , so I am sorting it slowly ...
It is very windy out there tonight, glad I am indoors, but an interesting forecast ahead .
Willow - sounds like a very productive day :)
Cake - fingers crossed for a good sleep from DGS
Chasing - hope Charlie is oaky again, and he's enjoying all the attention from you all
Horse and Selena - hope you are okay
Keep safe and well all
Sleep well
Thoughts and Prayers

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 07/12/2017 09:17

Hello

I was laughing at that Willow but only because I could well imagine it happening to me.

I am contemplating going to bed but who will do the million and one things that need doing?

DS's play was lovely but he is exhausted and only slept for 10 hours so no extra. This morning everything is wrong. God help us by bed time tonight as he'll still be on stage when he's normally lights out in bed. He slept so fitfully that we all look and feel like zombies.

Sounds like a lovely way to spend an afternoon book - the yarn not so much!

Hope everyone else is OK including Charlie x

Willow2017 · 07/12/2017 12:59

Its shaping up to be 'one of those weeks'😀
Been in town and finally found a pair of slippers that fit well enough to buy. Got a sparkly top for work xmas dinner. Got petrol and wad frozen by then so fot a costa ' millionaires shortbread' coffee. Never usualy buy costa but was desperate! Not only could i not pick it up as top kept poppong off and slopping coffee in the car but it was rank! Like old biscuit sludge. Then got home to find i had locked myself out and ds2 now has spare key i normally keep in car . Had to go to school to get it off him i will never live it down😁😂😂

Got books for kids Xmas and 'carrot and sprout' chocs for their stockings. Just grandad to sort out and i am done!

Back into attic i go to hide pressies.

Cake hope all goes well tonight and he sleeps like a log after it all.

Chasingsquirrels · 07/12/2017 16:17

Hope ds2 pulls through it all cake, this terms is also tough for reception.
And hopefully a better night tonight.

I saw the sprouts and carrots chocolates Willow but have already got chocolate for them (to excess - a metre long galaxy thing that is actually 3 x 390g bars) and am not even getting selection boxes this year! Although I'm sure my mum will be getting for them.

Sound like a good lunch book and then doing your bit for dd and family.

I've been to work today and my mum came over and looked after Charlie, he had a little while on his own before she arrived but then she didn't want to leave him so stayed until I got home 🙂.
Got so much to do at the moment so am in for a few hours tomorrow and mum is back over.

Hope Drama & Selena & others who've popped in and out are all okay.

OP posts:
Willow2017 · 07/12/2017 17:18

Mine havent git selection boxes wither this year. Find they are getting smaller and smaller and Cadburys choc is not as nice now with all that palm oil nonsense in it.

Need to think about tea but ds2 has opened a bag of nuts to help him concentrate on homework so we are munching on them.

So much to do before xmas i have brain fry just thinking about it.

Not going anywhere after grading now as aunt got her annual charity trip day mixed up so are going next week. That means need to put up tree instead😲😲😲

Ha! Charlie has someone else wrapped around his little paws then?

bookbook · 07/12/2017 17:36

Afternoon all
Just a quick sit down before making a meal .
Willow - I can sympathise re locking myself out - due to getting a lift to go shopping with DH dropping me off as he headed for work, and me only taking purse and phone ...luckily we have a trusted neighbour with a key for emergencies.
Getting cold now - spent the morning sorting stuff at the allotment, then a bit of shopping , ironing etc and the day has flown. My ball of wool is all wound, so started on the knitting, thats the plan for tonight :)
I do tiny bags of posh chocolates now , apart from DGS (who gets loads,) so he has a little chocolate penguin on a stick from us
Have a good evening all - hope you and DS manage it through Cake :)

SelenaValentina · 07/12/2017 17:42

Hi Everyone and thanks for thinking about me Smile. I seem to have been messing about (doing nothing Blush), plus the inbox message stopped doing its clever notifications, so I sort of thought everyone had tired themselves out.

Catching up, it sounds as though I'm perhaps right?

Oh Charlie is gorgeous, just don't think my cats would approve of a new arrival.

I went to Ikea again this week and bought a stark white tree skeleton. I hope the photo link works as I'm quite proud of my creativity. Reminder, I have none!

Keep warm!

Willow2017 · 07/12/2017 19:10

Oh Selena i havent seen one of them before thats very different an elegant😀(and much less trouble 😉)

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 07/12/2017 20:05

Hello, we are home and DS tucked in bed. DD winding down a bit before bed for her.

She did amazingly well especially the monologue which she'd been worried about.

I will be opening the share bag of chocolate not sharing as soon as all goes quiet and follow to bed soon after.

Selena I love the tree. How are you feeling about the impending holiday? Will DS and or other family be spending time with you?

Willow I have a key safe in the wendy house in the garden after spectacularly locking myself out one day. I like Costa, but have tried the mint and billionaires short bread and neither have impressed me nor the inflated price

Glad everyone seem to be doing OK. Tomorrow it's school run, collect brake pads for my car, do the chores that didn't get done today, school run and gym lesson for over tired DS (that'll be fun)!

Sleep well all x

SelenaValentina · 07/12/2017 20:46

Oh that's brill Cake - especially getting through the monologue.

I can't say I like Costa coffee, nor indeed Starbucks, whatever wonderful flavours they concoct.

As I've got older I've found that chocolate after 8 stops me sleeping well. Grrrr, and why, as coffee doesn't affect me - but fantastic reason to enjoy (stuff it in) late afternoon (early afternoon, lunch, all morning).

I'm not too bothered about Christmas/holiday really and thank you for asking. DS and lovely partner coming to cook lunch in new kitchen but without small children it's not so fraught or full of wonder. Might go and see brother at some point but he's a bit Scrooge-ish at the best of times so not usually a very uplifting visit, ha ha. This year I'm trying to time with his daughters there, with grandchildren, which will be fun.

How do others get through it all? Wine Gin Cake Brew ?

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 07/12/2017 21:19

It really is a thing for children isn't it?

Ah, this year we're just pleasing ourselves so that will be great. Last year it was a lot of gritting teeth and venting on MN Grin

Willow2017 · 07/12/2017 21:44

Cake well done DD Smile
Fingers crossed DS is shattered and will sleep. You need to try the Cafe Nero 'Billionaire Cake' you can just buy it and run not have the coffee. Smile
Selena I am not a fan either and wont bother with Costa again after today! I do like Nero (and some of their concoctions too Wink)

Well I have been stalking ebay and got 2 lego boxes (one new with just a a bit of damage to box and one used once) for less than one of them would cost new I am pretty pleased. Thats ds2's birthday covered! Saved about £90!

Next door have a key but of course they were out! Will get new ones for the kids and keep my old one in the car!

Sweet dreams.

bookbook · 07/12/2017 22:11

Evening all
Just put down the knitting :)
Oh, I love Christmas, so do the DD's - DH not so much ! But we don't go overboard on lots of extra stuff, just try to do it all 'special'
Cake - well done your DD :) hope you all get a good sleep tonight
Can't say I am in the least bothered about any chain coffees to be honest, but cope with them when out .
Selena - that is very elegant - I have seen those trees - someone on pinterest put up a diy version :)
Willow - good spot!
Chasing - hope you have another 'relatively' peaceful night with Charlie :)
Night all
Thoughts and Prayers

Willow2017 · 07/12/2017 22:18

Book I have been 'watching' them and I thought they would rocket up like some of the others did but they didnt so I sat and watched the minutes tick down and bid. 10 minutes seems like forever when you are watching something Grin

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 08/12/2017 06:26

Bad/short night and lots of sulking already. Just not fair on the children, the parents or the teachers.

bookbook · 08/12/2017 09:04

Morning all
oh you poor things Cake - hope you cope
we have found out we can get in to see DGS today at his play, early afternoon ,so looking forward to that :) . We are going out a bit early, to stop along the way for a few bits at shops we don't normally go past - I needed to get to a Dunelm this next week, and we can swing by on the way , which is a plus
