Oh dear - I just posted the 1000 thread. Hope we all find this one.

Selena hugs back.
I just miss him, not particular things as such, just the essence of John.
And if I think about that I just ache for him and tears just leak from my eyes.
So, mostly, I don't think about it I just carry on.

Evening all.

Work hectic for a few hours. Couldnt clear tables fast enough! Time still dragged though. Had a 'lesson in cleaning bathrooms' including walls and doors! Sod that every night. Plus if we are busy we dont have time for that. Apparentley nobody ever cleans spontaneously ha! one of the women was lying on the floor last night scrubbing under shelving. I could get £10 an hour as a cleaner never mind min wage and no breaks!

Spoils an otherwise ok job. Might just be looking around i am too old for this p.a. stuff. I can clean just fine thanks.

Glad everyone had a nice day. Xmas shoppibg started😀 ds2 finally has found a remote controlled helicopter he wants and ds1 an xbox game. I gave up on a Lego set i was watching on ebay as someone def wanted it. There is another one will watch for next couple of days. Will have to just go for it.

Raining tonight. Bet its frosty tomorrow morning
Kids off school tom and we have dentist before work. No long lie for me!

SelenaValentina · 26/11/2017 22:26

Crikey willow sounds like madness. Think being a cleaner sounds better than that?

I went to local Max Spielmann with a photo album of DH on my phone and a very nice young man helped the old biddy/me turn it into a calendar (for DS's 'Santa' present) and a collage of it into large shiny picture for me. Both ready by end of week. Amazing!

It's cold, and wet again!

Chasingsquirrels · 26/11/2017 22:35

Sounds good Selena.

I have been missing John today.
We are all looking forward to Charlie arriving, but it makes me sad too - that's it's something John will never know, and also that it's something that wouldn't have happened if he hadn't died.

had a lovely evening , and now have a cup of hot chocolate before bed.
Willow - I do believe they are taking the Mickey here .. you must have the patience of a saint.
Horse - it did turn out lovely, and I had a great hour in the sun :) Well done on the shopping! I have the present buying just about under control , thank goodness. But I do have a bit of knitting left to do for a present.
Selena - I love those calendars - I still have one on the wall of the first year of DGS photos on :)
Cake - hope you are okay, and DS keeps doing well on the sleep front
well, that me for tonight.
Picking up DGS tomorrow afternoon, and staying overnight so I can drop him off on Tuesday morning, so need to get it together and get the housework done pronto tomorrow before I go
Sleep well all
Thoughts and Prayers

Willow2017 · 27/11/2017 04:41

Woke up at 3.30 with horrific pain in bottom of my back and left hip! Took 5 mins to get out of bed and hobble to bathroom for pain killers. And another 5 minutes to get back into bed! Have given up trying to sleep so hobbled downstairs for cuppa and Nurofen😀 have taken one of ds1s melatonin see if that knocks me out. Freaking out about not being able to go to work never mind bleeding dentist appointment. Dammit i just wanted a job to provide for my kids and my useless back has screwed me over yet again. Sitting here in tears with pain and all i can think of is if i have to get gp out for strong enough painkillers to get me moving what a mess the house is😁😁😁 that and there is nothing on the telly. Who knew there was such a thing as cupcake wars😁

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 27/11/2017 06:55

Oh no Willow that sounds awful. I hope you got some more sleep. Work sounds bonkers. Guess you can start looking again....I knew there was cupcake wars (of course)

Squirrel I'm sending you a big hug. I can't imagine the mixed feelings you all must have.

Selena technology is amazing when it works isn't it? I'm sure DS will treasure it.

book good luck with the extra duties. How is DD's foot?

That sounds like a wonderful Christmas Horse and a nice weekend next week too. What did you buy for GF? I'm nosy like that Wink

Off to get ready for the Monday, hugs all round x

Chasingsquirrels · 27/11/2017 07:38

Oh Willow hugs. I hope the painkillers kicked in and you got some sleep. Would some physio help? My friend is a physio and is great whenever I have problems.

Thanks for the hugs x

Boys school is closed for INSET today, ds1 is going ice skating with his girlfriend, I've got a course later this afternoon so am not going to work but am going on the course. Also having a manicure this morning - some of the ladies at work clubbed together and got me a massage voucher last December when things were getting worse with John, with his deterioration and then death I never used it and it expires in a couple of weeks. I didn't fancy a massage so have swapped it for a manicure. I'm not a "style & beauty" person and have never had a manicure in my life!

Hi all. Finally dozed off for about 20 mins about 7.30 and dreamt i got sacked!
Have actually got through to surgery and will get a home visit.
Phoned work too. Not the thing you want to do when you just started!

Selena that sounds like a lovely present am sure Ds will love it.

Squirrels what a mixed bag of emotions about Charlie.
((Hugs))) for both of you.

Need to phone dentist next so annoyed we have waited weeks for the appointment and get kids tidying up😉

Have a good day folks.

bookbook · 27/11/2017 09:40

Morning all
oh Willow - thats awful for you , I seem to remember your back got done in when you were nursing I think? Lack of sleep makes it all so much worse too ,hope you can get some better painkillers . If you have had the problem a long time, has the Dr put you forward for physio help?
DH had some years ago - ( MacKensie exercises, ) which helped at a time when he was really bad. Get the DS ' to help as much as possible - Take care.
Chasing - now , I would love the massage, but maybe not the manicure! I only have ever had one manicure, when DD1 married. It was nice, but not 'me' IYSWIM - but enjoy it anyway :)
Cake - her foot is slowly getting better - she can walk a bit without a crutch now, just learning with the support boot , but still can't drive. She's due to see the Dr at the end of the week, so we shall see.!
Right - no more slouching - shower and housework - so much for a quick start this morning!
Have a good day all

Willow2017 · 27/11/2017 10:28

Book yes nursing damaged me in a variety of ways. I have had physio before on back and shoulders but not for a few years. Hopefuly dr will refer me again.
Glad dd is on the mend she just needs to let it heal in its own time. My foot was sore for ages after it healed so she needs to be kind to herself.

SelenaValentina · 27/11/2017 11:46

Willow sounds grim, hope GP arrives fairly soon. Not sure whether you had dream or nightmare re sacking?

book had meant to ask about DD, sorry, but glad to hear foot improving a bit.

squirrels, hugs. Hard isn't it? DH would have loved the new kitchen (though probably moaned at all the upset) and would have been fixing things like lights, cupboards back together so efficiently and without fuss. DS's partner's father is kindly going to come and get things better, but it's not NOW is it, and there's no discussion about what, where - why.

I've been spinning, then doing Navigatoring this p.m. Still not sure about whether to carry on with that, but will wait for better weather (whenever that might be, as horrible again today) and decide then.

Feels like a Cake and Brew day for everyone?

Willow2017 · 27/11/2017 12:15

Still waiting for dr. Good job not really ill😀

just realised i have click & collect at asda for ds xmas hope i can drive by wed!

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 27/11/2017 13:11

Hello all

Oh poor you Willow Hope he turns up soon! You don't get home visits here unless you're very poorly/infirm.

I had a mixed morning - I got a take out hot choc on the run to song time. Put it down to cool while I got the boys a snack and when I drank it - it was coffee! Too late to go back...then we saw then navy do the change of the guard which is apparently the first time ever or in hundreds of years, so something special. Saw them come out too.

Now having a quiet 5 minutes before doing a bit of cleaning, then school run and the usuals.

Squirrel it sounds like unusual times for inset. Our schools always tag them before or after a holiday. Hope you enjoy the manicure. I've had one or 2, but I'm rubbish with varnish on my fingernails. Hope the course isn't too boring Wink

book hope you've got all your things done and that you have a nice sleepover at DD's. I watched 2 crochet videos last night. Looks doable - just need to get the stuff now.

Maybe wait till the spring Selena Your mixed feelings is completely understandable. Hope you get the last little bits and pieces done to your satisfaction.

Willow2017 · 27/11/2017 13:51

Cake well when i phoned i couldnt get off the chair so goung to surgery was a no no. Receptionist just laughed and said someone will be out later no problem. Small surgery they have known me for donkeys and know i wouldnt ask if not necessary.

Dr just been mid post! Sciatica for sure. Prescribing stronger painkilkers will need to ask neighbour nicely if they can go get them later. No work for a few days either. Am flipping aching now after going upstairs to get exam' boy he made me yelp!

What a p i.a. ( excuse the pun) all round.

Chasingsquirrels · 27/11/2017 14:24

Oh Willow what a pain, hopefully the painkillers will relieve it a bit, hugs.

cake how annoying on the hot chocolate / coffee.

Selena I'd agree with waiting till spring.

Manicure actually quite nice, although I smuged one nail on the way out (I don't really do nail varnish - should have got me feet done really but couldn't face someone touching my feet).
Popped (slowly - traffic was awful) to Cambridge to get new school shoes for ds2 and just about to go to course now.

OP posts:
Chasingsquirrels · 27/11/2017 17:38

Course was awful, I left at coffee Shock which I almost never do.

DH has died and Squirrels broke the last thread without a link to this one! (Juan)

SelenaValentina · 27/11/2017 18:12

Oooh swish, squirrels, I'm useless with nail varnish - even get in a mess with clear! Sorry that the course was a waste of space, what was it (supposed to be) about?

Willow, good that GP turned up, sciatica is so painful, hope there are people around who can help.

cake, much as I love coffee, for it not to be hot chocolate would not a good start to my week.

I was vaguely wondering why some children were not at school, then realised 3 or 4 schools still closed due to flood damage.

Hope day going/gone well/better for everyone. Juan you too of course.

Willow2017 · 27/11/2017 19:08

What a pity about the course Squirrels what was it about? Nice nails. Mine have fallen apart since i used nail varnish over summer. Got hardner on but doesnt seem to be helping they are just splitting and breaking.

Well co dydramol arent doing much! Took some nurophen shortly after.

Selena kids are helping even ds1 (with a smidgen of moaning😉) i am just directing operations as cannot do anything except hobble. By time i have gone up and down stairs to loo that's me kaput. My kids have day off for St Andrews day today.
Dozed off for half an hour. Am watching kirsties xmas show on catch up. I am not a chutney fan but the pear, apple and walnut one she made does sound nice. Might try it. Has anyone tried it?

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 27/11/2017 20:57

Aaaw, poor you Willow is there anything other than waiting it out (like physio)?

Sorry the course was a waste of time Squirrel Nails are a lovely colour.

How was your volunteering shift Selena?

Horsemad · 27/11/2017 21:37

Ouch Willow, sciatica is SO painful Sad Hope the rest and painkillers help. Glad your lads are helping out.

Lovely colour on your nails chasing. I'm not a pamper person myself but would go for the massage if I had the opportunity. How long now until Charlie arrives?

Cake, I saw the RN doing the Changing of the Guard on the news - hadn't realised they haven't done so for such a long time.
I have bought the GF a watch, a nice make up bag, some slipper boots and smellies. All has to be easily transportable and light!

book, good to hear your DD is improving. Hope you enjoy your sleepover Smile

Selena, why are you thinking of giving up navigating? I'd love to do that but I am miles away from our nearest hospital unfortunately.

SelenaValentina · 27/11/2017 21:57

Navigating is good when you can take the person there, or explain clearly and have them thank you or acknowledge when they leave. It (normally) keeps you warm and dry, and people to talk to.

It's not so good when you're told by the co-ordinator's boss that really you shouldn't take people (Confused) because your instructions should be clear enough, that you are standing for 3 hours, when there is room to sit behind the desk - but that's for the Trust Receptionists.

And today - the front doors weren't working again, so the side door was permanently open, it was freezing, we were in coats and gloves and the 2 receptionists behind their long desk had a heater between them.

But I'll probably carry on for now, because the good normally outweighs the not so good. And I've forgotten the free hot drink! Grin

Willow2017 · 27/11/2017 22:16

Nothing for it at the moment but rest and painkillers. No work tomorow then off till sat. Hopefully by then will be better.

My hot water bottle is my best friend at the moment😀

Horse that sounds a lovely present for his gf.

Book enjoy your sleepover no midnight feasts and reading under the covers with dgs😉

Willow2017 · 27/11/2017 22:18

X posted Selena that sounds rubbish. No wonder you are thinking of giving up. Nothing like making you feel welcome and being grateful eh?

Horsemad · 27/11/2017 22:44

That's pretty rubbish Selena. They really ought to appreciate their volunteers more.
