Oh dear - I just posted the 1000 thread. Hope we all find this one.

Selena hugs back.
I just miss him, not particular things as such, just the essence of John.
And if I think about that I just ache for him and tears just leak from my eyes.
So, mostly, I don't think about it I just carry on.

Evening all!
All nicely tucked up for the evening .
Willow - mammograms are just one of the annoying things we need to put up with . I find them horrid, and yes, downright uncomfortable
Chasing - he is gorgeous !
I was thinking of you and the weather Selena - I think you are North West, and its been nearly flooding again up there?

I've just got an A5 Willow, having had an S2 for 3 years and then S4 for the last 3.5 - I dropped it a couple of weeks ago and broke the camera, but it had been feeling old.
Ds1 had the J7 for his birthday last year and it's good, but enormous and I didn't want anything so big.
Worth seeing if you can find a Black Friday deal.

Ds2 cooked meatballs and pasta and I just had some paracetamol and beans on toast. Now curled up on the sofa and will have another early night.

x posted with you Willow - I hate driving in heavy rain . No help here on phones - both DH and I have pass me downs from DD and son in law !

Willow2017 · 22/11/2017 21:21

Had to put my wrist splint on tonight. Think this job is trying to do me damages. Its been twitchy for a day or 2 but really sore today. Carrying all those plates and scrubbing everything that didnt move on sunday and monday set it off i think. Such a nuscance.

Book i can look after that to stop yiur

Willow2017 · 22/11/2017 21:22

Arghhh stupid fingers.
To stop your dh eating it😉

None of our phones are new just get 'new to us' ones😀

bookbook · 22/11/2017 21:51

one big advantage - they can tell us how to use them!
mmm - I think you may have a fight on your hands for the panetonne Grin

SelenaValentina · 22/11/2017 22:02

I'll help with looking after the cake too. Grin

Literally tonight DS has given me his phone, HTC OnePlus Five (I think) after he got 'a bargain' HTC something or other in an Amazon Warehouse deal. I have to totter off to O2 tomorrow to get a nano sim card as the one in mine is too big. Yeah, well. How did it happen that I get his cast-offs, when it used to be (satisfyingly) vice versa? Confused.

It is STILL raining, yes book I'm well and truly in the North West and it's not stopped all day, just got heavier. The back garden is like a swimming pool and sand bags are available for those who need them, of which there are many but thankfully not us yet, plus part of one of the major pumping stations is out. Not good.

Sleep well, everyone. Keep warm and dry.

Willow2017 · 22/11/2017 22:14

Oh for goodness sake its not just a bit of idiocy there are several boys ganging up on ds2. Deja bloody vu. Some are the same as at primary and a new boy just started has joined in. Apparently he was fighting with one of them yesterday.
He has been told to let ds1 know if they say anything to him tomorrow and he is going to have 'a word' with them. Having him looming over them might just do the trick or it's back to phoning school to complain again. It never rains.

Horsemad · 22/11/2017 22:23

Willow, get on to the school anyway and get it sorted. Poor DS Sad that is not on.

Was day off today chasing, so have removed work from my brain! Wink Back to it tomorrow though - must keep doing the lottery...

The panetonne looks fab book. I always buy a small one for DH's Xmas stocking. What recipe do you use?

SelenaValentina · 22/11/2017 23:02

Willow - as horse says, phone the school re DS2, surely he's had enough to cope with and one against several is hard/impossible to solve alone. His lovely big brother can't be there all the time.

But talking of rain - it's actually stopped! For the moment anyway.

Willow2017 · 22/11/2017 23:23

Will phone his pastoral care teacher she is very nice and have a chat. Funnily enough 'lovely big brother was calling him for everything earlier arguing over the tv in their room, before we had the chat about school! Kids! NO wonder I have grey hairs.

Still bucketing down here..roads were starting to flood when I was out before, hope its all gone by morning.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 23/11/2017 06:44

Hello, a bit zombie like here, but just wanted to say yes to ringing the school today.

Very stormy here!

Willow2017 · 23/11/2017 08:20

Stopped raining this morning thank goodness. But i will be surprised if there isnt flooding at sides of the road this am.

Usual school morning ha ha.

bookbook · 23/11/2017 09:36

Morning all
lovely sunshine here, but strong winds for this afternoon. Off to get a bit of allotment done
Cake - any chance of a rest , or feet up for 5 minutes?
Willow - children are so horrible - your poor DS . And take care of your wrists - they sound sore , not good .
Chasing - ,hope the early night has helped, and the cold is on the way out
Selena - saw the news about Lancaster -hope you are not too near
Horse - recipe is
This One
I make one most years, never the same recipe twice so far, as I am still learning! - I must admit ,( though I am not a fan of Paul Hollywood,) this has turned out much better than previous ones. They usually taste nice, but don't rise quite as much as I would wish . Fingers crossed it tastes good too , as I messed around with the added stuff. I wanted one without nuts ( DD2's partner is allergic to nuts) so substituted .
We do love panetonne here - I never get around to using it up - I want to make a bread and butter pudding with it one day Grin
Have a good day all

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 23/11/2017 10:40

I'm sat firmly on my bum at the moment Grin

The cleaning will wait for a bit while I mooch on here. Do you need to bake two book or would that not help either Wink

Selena hats off to you doing spinning and swimming!

How are things at work now Horse?

Take care of yourself Willow

How are you feeling Squirrel?

Willow2017 · 23/11/2017 11:48

Have spoken to pastoral care and she is getting right on it. One of the boys is under supervision anyway for his behaviour so its no surprise to her. She will speak to DS2 tomorrow as not in school today but pass on the info to the kids supervisor today to get the ball rolling. Thank goodness, fingers crossed I dont want him going through this again, he actually said he is "secluding himself from society so it doesnt happen any more" it breaks my heart he is such a sweet kind boy, will do anything for a friend, utter little gits! (One is well known for being a bully both in primary and outside school for years)

And apparently she was going to phone me about ds1, he is falling asleep in class some days! It never ends does it? I cant make him fall asleep, he is like me a night owl but will have to put my thinking cap on I suppose and maybe trip to gp for something to get him back into a proper sleep pattern? Any suggestions ladies? He doesnt take tablets, he just chokes on them, drives me mad as we all had to start sometime but he just wont do them at all now. Hm what was that kids medicine that used to send kids to sleep? Mediced? Where can I get that ha ha.

And technology strikes again...bleeping windows updates, I hate them! PC 'updated' last night and this morning put it on cue blank screen while it sorted itself our, then I logged in and cue 5 minutes of blank screen with me swearing at it, rebooting and the same again while I tried not to kick it into next week till it finaly loaded up...I really dont need any more stress today! Can I run away?

On the bright side paid the glassess and lost myself in my book and coffee, didnt want to leave as getting to another fraught part of the book and want the characters to get through it intact! Smile

Sun shining but wondering if its worth putting washing out as no wind. Need to get some housework done but really not in the mood.

Cake have a long rest cleaning can wait for once.

Book I have to confess I have never tried panatone, might get one this Xmas.

Horse hope work is better today, take it easy.

Squirrels hope the lurgy is going and you feel better asap.

Willow2017 · 23/11/2017 11:48

Oooh that was long and ranty! Blush

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 23/11/2017 13:31

Poor DS2. Always the nice ones who suffer under the little gits left to get away with it.

They don't make medised any more Shock Can you try a relaxing podcast or you tube video thingy to listen to or even just music? we go to sleep with the radio on each evening on a timer.

I have done both the cleaning and put the shopping away and watched This morning/Loose Women and had a poke round online for present ideas. I'm planning on doing a big shop in 2 goes in December. One on the 2nd and one on the 20th or so...

SelenaValentina · 23/11/2017 13:37

Well done you Willow and sounds quite positive? Help round sleep is a difficult one, think there's quite a lot in the 'alternative' medicine rather than chemical coshes. Plus lavender oil/spray is calming?

If I didn't have DS as my visiting IT specialist, not sure where I'd be. I went into 02 to get my phone nano card and they were really helpful, twiddling about to get everything up and running.

I've got both Kindle app and UB reader app, and always have some book or other on the go, paper ones too.

Woe betide the author if not a satisfactory ending!!!

Hope everyone having a good/better day. Weather-wise it's cold and blustery, with sudden heavy downpours. One nice bit is beautiful rainbows. Smile

Willow2017 · 23/11/2017 14:23

Thanks ladies.

Had a quick read up online and have ordered melatonin capsules online that disolve to try. (Might take some myself!)
Dont think Lavender will work as he is very sensitive to smells, it might be too much for him even a few drops. (awkward so and so Wink ) He does have calming/meditation cds he got from his school nurse so will be insisting on them too. Thought a bath, a read and the cds might be a good start. Gawd help me when I tell him no flamming pc/xbox after 7pm for the time being, and I will extend his phone ban to 8pm for a while. Will do it for both just to be fair for now. (Listen out for the angsty screams of horror later today...its not a banshee its my ds Wink )

Need to get lined curtains for their room, will measure up with kids later.

Done my tax credits form to update them that I am working more hours now, it could take a month to sort out apparently even though I get child tax credits so they know my circumstances!

Cake thats a very laid back day for you, good on you. (Not for anyone else) Do it more often.

Selena am reading 2nd book in 'The Dark Tower' series by Stephen King, had it on my shelves for donkeys, and its a white knuckle ride! Rarely get a bad ending with Mr King.

bookbook · 23/11/2017 15:04

Afternoon all
Willow - you are such a good Mum - hope DS2 gets support from school - does sound like it. Sleep is such a problem for many - and yes, the no screens thing is quite important. I watched a thing on TV with Michael Moseley about sleep ( on BBC ) - may be worth a watch - some strange things help - I'm sure kiwi fruit are one of the things that truly did work .
Cake -good to hear you are having an easier day - building up some relaxation time makes life so much nicer.
Selena - I had to change my SIM when I got the last phone.. Someone else had to pry it out and put the new one in! Its funny, but though I have a kindle - very handy when on holiday, I really don't like reading books on a screen - it seems to be so uninvolved - I love feeling and turning the pages, with the knowledge of how much you have left to read :)
I had a lovely morning at the allotment, but now the wind has strengthened, and we have had a squally shower. We rushed out to do the bits of shopping , now snuggled at home listening to it howl, knowing I don't have to go out again today :)

Willow2017 · 23/11/2017 15:28

Book
Thank you sometimes I (like most parents I suspect) feel a total failure.
I love a book too, dont do reading on devices, just like the feel, smell and the turning pages and seeing the progression through it too.
Oh well off for the kids, countdown to a family conflab, wish me luck Smile

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 23/11/2017 15:55

I think the fact that we feel we're not good enough does mean that we care and that probably means the most in terms of raising children successfully... ooooh, go me Wink

Chasingsquirrels · 23/11/2017 17:57

Another week nearly done (we have a budget seminar for clients and contacts tomorrow morning so not only am I doing some hours in a Friday but I have to be up early).

I think the worst of the cold is over, not so achy this evening. But not 100% yet. And my lips are all dry and a bit tingly so I've put cold sore cream on.

Just taken the boys to the dentist, it was in the village their school is in but has recently moved premises. I checked the sat nav when I got home and it said 13 mins. Left the house at 4.07pm for a 4.30pm appointment and sat nav was saying 33 mins! Seemed to be catching up time and suddenly it told me to go on the national cycle path - somehow it had us as biking! So got there on time and no teeth problems.

Both giving joggers a miss tonight so having an early tea before archery instead of ds2 having to make himself something and ds1 and I eating later.

Brought a Weird Fish jacket off eBay which was delivered today - said new without tags. Definitely not new (although very good condition) and a paper tissue tucked inside one of the pockets!

Hope that school gets things sorted for ds2 Willow, it's so hard. My mum (retired teacher) says that some kids just seem to get picked on for no reason, they can move to different schools but still attract bullies and there isn't anything about them that would "explain" it.

Never tried pannatonne book, have got the Christmas Florentines from Aldi though, yum.

Hope everyone has a good evening.
