Oh dear - I just posted the 1000 thread. Hope we all find this one.

Selena hugs back.
I just miss him, not particular things as such, just the essence of John.
And if I think about that I just ache for him and tears just leak from my eyes.
So, mostly, I don't think about it I just carry on.

Work: Hmm

Enough said. Suffice to say, not much of my work has been done in my absence and not only that but several procedures have been changed so not only do I have to plough through an almighty backlog, I also have to do it using the new 'improved' way... Confused

I am not impressed.

Chasing, I hope you aren't sickening for something. Flowers

Willow2017 · 20/11/2017 20:35

Squirrels

Sounds as though frustration at work could be the theme for this week? Our Volunteer leader is, as my vet described a previous cat 'Lovable but dim', and flits about spreading joy and chaos without doing anything concrete. OK, it means those of us who can (be bothered to) organise keep things ticking over but she's paid pretty good money. Grrrr. She can't even write a rota, let alone follow one. She was lovely when DH was ill and through the trauma.

But even so she's frustratingly useless!

Horse, I second Willow. If it was left for your return, can't be desperately urgent, can it, and you're having to work out the new protocol by yourself so bound to be slower than usual.

Cake, like the idea of notebook at the ready! Tends to focus people's minds when they see their words of wisdom being duly noted Grin.

Squirrels, look after yourself.

book, I hope the ferrying about is working and DD1 is feeling OK.

Horsemad · 21/11/2017 05:05

Awake.

Chasingsquirrels · 21/11/2017 08:13

Hope you managed to get back to sleep horsemad x

Blocked up this morning, will see how I feel after a shower.

Hello all

Oh no, hope that everyone is OK now. My day has been stressful this morning, but I'm just taking a little breather now. In the grand scheme of things nothing to complain about, but small people know how to press buttons don't they????

Off to chomp my bacon and cheese toastie Wink

bookbook · 21/11/2017 14:26

Afternoon all
oh Horse - too much brain working, and a stressful day back at work too - hope you managed to get some rest .
Chasing fingers crossed
Selena - thanks DD is now just a bit frustrated tbh . She feels perfectly fine, and would much rather be at work , so is doing all she can at home for them in terms of emailing stuff, and doing some resources searching. But she can at least hop around now :)
Cake - little people almost certainly do know how to press buttons, and usually when you can least cope with it - or maybe its less hard when you are feeling on top form. Hope you enjoyed the toastie :)
Willow - hope work is not too bad today ( actaully, not sure if today is a work day? !)
I have been out and about this morning - picking up some bits made by others, and parcelling up and posting the hats and scarves. Can take a breather, and get on with other home bits now! I have just mixed up my panetonne for Christmas , and about to sort out some baking this afternoon.
Committee meeting tonight , and then an easy evening , as I am up at crack of dawn to go and take DGS to school in the morning .

Willow2017 · 21/11/2017 15:13

Afternoon
Just chilling before work. Done shopping this morning and had my coffee and read😀 puting all the stuff away is such a pain! Got some xmas bits too so they are hidden in attic. Was gonna have a nap as really tired for some reason kept falling asleep watching tv last night😀 but remembered washing in machine so had to do that.

Wet and miserable here was mild this morning but blooming cold now.

Work should be bearable today fingers crossed.

Hope everyone feels better than this morning.

Horse hope you sleep better tonight back at work stress isnt condusive for a good sleep.

Cake hope a little someone is in better fettle this pm.

Catch you later.

Chasingsquirrels · 21/11/2017 16:18

Hope you are having a better afternoon cake and work is going okay willow & horsemad.
Have a restful evening book and hope Selena is okay.

I'm full of cold and not feeling very effective.
Popped to Aldi on the way home and picked up some chocolate coins and mini santa/snowmen to put in the advent calendar - have a fabric one and put 2 chocolates and a mini tree decoration in, then we have a twig thing (couple of small branches stick in a plant pot with cement and all sprayed gold) which the mini decorations go on. So another job sorted.
Ds2 asked at the weekend if I could get advent candles and I forgot to look, they usually have them in Aldi but I was ignoring the Christmas stuff. Will have to go in later in the week - I drive past it on my way home.

Picking the boys up from school tomorrow and going over to see Charlie, so all happy about that.

Ds1 didn't get selected for the World Scout Jamboree although at least a couple of the younger leaders in his group did (6 of them went on the selection, there was about 80 for 45 places). He seems fine about it, and I'm a bit relieved as the next 18 months are going to be busy enough with bronze & silver DofE, hobbies, girlfriend and GCSE's without adding another major thing (and fund raising for it) into the mix. Still a shame for him though.

OP posts:
Chasingsquirrels · 21/11/2017 20:09

Back from taking the boys to joggers - friend didn't go so I stayed and brought them back, got chips on the way home and did some sausages.
Just feel worn out, full of cold, eyes leaking tears, want John to hold me and make everything better. Ds1 tried, lovely boy, not the same though.
Now watching Masterchef Australia final with ds2 whose sitting on the other sofa cos he doesn't want to catch my cold.

OP posts:
TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 21/11/2017 20:28

Ah bless you Squirrel maybe an early night is called for. Chips sounds good.

The afternoon was better but I'm stressing a bit - have someone new starting on the 1st but mum doesn't seem to have factored in the cost of childcare... I mean really. I'm not a charity. Also left it till 2 1/2 weeks before she's due back! She's coming back to see me tomorrow sigh

Hope you survived work without falling asleep in the washing up Willow

book I'm glad DD is as well as can be and that you can help out. Hope the crack of dawn isn't really that early...

Hope day 2 was better for you Horse and that you can shake off the pressure they're already piling back on you.

selena I hope you are enjoying the kitchen and fining your feet in it. The holidays for next year sounds great too.

SelenaValentina · 21/11/2017 20:52

Oh squirrels, virtual hug on its way.

cake - sounds like people in the checkout queue who are shocked to find they have to pay?

Willow and Horse, hope work went better. And book, you've survived the dawn start.

Kitchen still a bit newfangled as to where I might have put things, but getting used to the metal in the microwave Confused

One of the 'joys' of getting older is the annual GP MOT, though it's with a nurse who can help you to GP if you're too doddery for her to cope with. Anyway, I passed with flying colours as the 2nd BP check was normal (I have 'classic white coat syndrome' - the first reading was 156/92 = not that good), weight same as last year, spinning x 3 a week, brisk walk (for coffee and chat!) most days. So I didn't need any of the lectures re drinking, smoking, exercise etc and could therefore escape to dive in for a quick coffee before hospital shift Smile.

I know, I know, I should be grateful for our caring NHS and I truly am, but sometimes it feels like being back at school. And I'm still a rebel at heart.

Willow2017 · 21/11/2017 22:30

Evening all.
Another hug for Squirrels hope you feel better tomorrow.

Cake laughing at the prospective parent who didnt think childcare was going to cost her!! Good luck with that one. Make sure she knows she has to pay every week.

Work quiet tonight so got finished on time. Not great for business but good for me😉

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 22/11/2017 06:41

She's getting paid on the 30th apparently, so I will be asking for the whole month then or no go. I'm no worse off as I've not invested anything other than a bit of time and printing paper, but she'd be up the creek without a paddle...

Very unsettled night all round, so it's going to be a long one!

Hope you all have a good day and that you feel a bit better today Squirrel

bookbook · 22/11/2017 09:15

Morning all
Just back home . Boy am I glad I don't have to drive through rush hour traffic to get to work every day - it did my head in all the jostling and downright cutting up , just to get another car ahead . But , it all went well, DGS safely dropped off :)
Chasing - virtual (hug) from me - this is the worst time, when you are at a low ebb, so take care and take it easy on yourself.
Cake - some people are just so idiotic - I think it what they want it to be , not what is - wouldn't life be lovely if we all got what we wanted.
Willow - home on time for once - hope you put your feet up :)
Selena - I haven't been going for annual check ups, but got caught with my BP on last drs visit. I had to attend a clinic and get it checked again, and a lecture - I knew more than her , and I know I am a stone overweight , and I shouldn't use too much salt. But I am as fit as a flea , and I don't smoke/drink/do drugs ....... she was very apologetic thrusting leaflets in my hand to explain!
Well, a cup of tea beckons, and a late breakfast. DH has a physio appointment today, so we shall be heading out in an hour or so. I have to knock back my panetonne dough and get it proving again while I am out, ready to bake later. Depends on the weather but may stop off on the way home to do a bit of proper Christmas shopping, but the wind is looking a bit wicked .
Have a good day all

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 22/11/2017 11:27

Hmmm pass the panetonne here please!

Willow2017 · 22/11/2017 13:57

Pottering day here. Weather atrocious.

Spent long time on pc trawling for Xmas presents for kids. Got a long 'watch list' on Ebay for a phone for ds2 (little gits at school take the mick out his phone and after pushing him against a wall it now has a cracked screen. I would pursue at school but its his word against theirs I suppose) and some Lego and Xbox games for DS1 (they are getting an Xbox1 from their dad)

DS1 has optician after school to get his new glasses, dont want to go out in this weather.

Traffic sounds horrendous Book I couldnt be doing with that at all.

I got an appointment throught for a mammogram next week, oh joy, only had one and they are not pleasant from start to finish. Maybe I will be sick Wink

Have a good day all.

Chasingsquirrels · 22/11/2017 15:13

Chasingsquirrels · 22/11/2017 17:38

Had an earlish night last night then was awake from 3am - 5am, never usually have trouble sleeping but was full of cold, achy etc. Felt a bit better when I got up at 8am and after shower, but totally worn out now - just sat down and don't want to get up and make tea, have asked ds2 to do it - one of them should be anyway as it's Wednesday. Ds1 has gone to Beavers.

Little gits bullying your ds2 Willow, am very cross on your behalf. What phone are you looking at for him?

How is work going horsemad?

I know what you mean about traffic book, I mostly miss it with my hours but it is such a waste of time.

Stick to your guns re payment on 30th cake!

OP posts:
SelenaValentina · 22/11/2017 18:35

willow - some don't find mammograms at all painful. I'm not one of them. Excruciating and I thought they'd decided new type of ultra sound better.

squirrels - Vit C, Sambucol (or double whisky, or my family's favourite hot rum, milk and brown sugar). What a gorgeous bundle of fun Charlie looks to be, I'd love a dog but doubt cats would approve!

Been sodden day. Was going to do some sorting but too wet and gloomy to give me inspiration. Did spinning this morning, just been swimming so chocolate and ice cream very soon for me!

Willow2017 · 22/11/2017 18:59

Same phone as i and ds1 have a samsung galaxy j5. Its fine for playing games on and internet etc and have good data packages on o2 already.

Rushed pm picked kids up, home then off for optician. Then when i put tea in realised (just as i was reaching for the wine) ds2 has tkd tonight. Damm oven his chicken was cooked in time but rest wasn't so scoffed mine down quick. Rain teeming down wipers struggling and deluged by lorries so couldnt get up to speed but only 5 minutes late! Sitting in car with layers on with my book and coffee. Need to go back to optician tomorrow as they thought i had already paid then realised i hadnt. I am not sure they actually suit ds now i see them at home but wont tell him as he likes them. If he would comb his flipping hair back...he is totally different then it suits his face shape much better.

Puppy is getting big! So cute.

Been quizzing them on xmas presents and have got one of the games ds1 mentioned on my list so yeah me😀 trying to dissuade ds2 from what he wants as its expensive and he would have to rely on ds1 playing against him. Its the hexbugs robot wars thingy. He did mention lego though and i am watching several sets from 'the hobbit' so fingers crossed. Its not the same now used to have lots of bits bought for them by now when they were younger😐
