Oh dear - I just posted the 1000 thread. Hope we all find this one.

Selena hugs back.
I just miss him, not particular things as such, just the essence of John.
And if I think about that I just ache for him and tears just leak from my eyes.
So, mostly, I don't think about it I just carry on.

Flyingprettycretonnecurtains hello ☺. Hope your radiotherapy was successful, I remember that John's really knocked the stuffing out of him for a few weeks so take it easy.
Ds1 has recently taken up archery, I just have to sit and watch because it's an adult club and they want to be comfortable with him / him with them before I'm allowed to leave him.
He is loving it and we are going to get his bow in a few weeks - late birthday present but I wanted to make sure he'd continue before I spent that much.
They shoot indoors Oct-Apr so at least I don't have to sit in the rain.

Cake hope you've had a bit more rest and ds manages to shake the cough soon, it's horrible listening to them being unwell.
Am boggling st unicorn wings cake - please share a picture when it's done.
book an owl? Presumably not a traditional nativity!
willow are you still achy today? Hope sort goes okay.
horse has the itchiness settled?

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 11/11/2017 15:07

LOL @ owl, but it beats the year DD's school let them write a modern version which had the phrase OMG in it! I was appalled, that you can do something so utterly against the grain of religion! DS is a sheep.

I went back to bed for an hour at lunch but I always feel worse for it, so trying between 3 of us that are all grumpy to do various bits and not bite each others heads off not too successful so far

If you google unicorn cake with wings, you'll see the sort of thing I'm expected to do...I told DD I'm NOT doing wings, but thought I'd have a little go anyway... Will happily post it up after the party next weekend. It's all just setting/drying in her room while she's at the dark side this weekend.

Hello Flying don't know you (yet). My friend is starting radio next week. Hoping it's not too awful for her.

Hope you found fabric book, survive the shift willow and have a good day squirrel

Not heard from Juan since the woolly hug....

Flyingprettycretonnecurtains · 11/11/2017 15:54

Hi theworld - the actual process of radiotherapy is fine apart from the fact you are lying there with norks footloose and fancy free. The time is taken with the faffing getting you in the right position. The radiographers were lovely. The after effects are like hitting a brick wall of fatigue - bit like a migraine without a headache and I have nausea as well. The fatigue has lasted for three weeks afterwards but hopefully may have gone. Have had three fatigue free days so fingers crossed.

Squirrels - that sounds like our club. For child protection purposes we make a parent stay - quite often the parent thn does the training and joins too. For first kit, make sure he is fitted for his bow. A wooden riser is fine to start off with. If you are in the SE, pm me as I have bits of kit to sell on (first sight, 18lb limbs). Hoping I might be able to shoot soon now the nork seems a bit less grumpy.

Chasingsquirrels · 11/11/2017 16:39

The club have arranged for a local (ish - we are Cambridge, shop is Norwich) shop to open on a Sunday for us and the club leaders are coming along to assist with selection.
Having seen the variety of bows I don't think he is going to want wooden!

Off to Google cake "cake* ☺

Evening all (or still afternoon?)
Hello Flying - one of my good friends went through op/chemo/radio last year - so I can understand where you are coming from. Hopefully sorted for you, once properly recovered.
yep - owl - can only presume they have a menagerie - as long as DGS doesn't have to sit on a branch , it will be fine Grin No material as yet, as didn't end up getting to shops today , and DD has the brown t shirt. So may as well see that first, and pop out on Monday when I am out anyway to pick DGS up after school.
Cake - it doesn't matter how tired I am , a nap in the afternoon actually makes me feel worse, so I know how you feel. All groggy and not right.
Willow - hope you are coping today - I bet you will be ready for feet up .
Chasing - hope you get to relax and enjoy your weekend - you have really put the hours in at work!
I would love to know Juan is okay , it has been so tough for her - and hope Selena is okay too .
DH is making our meal, so I am crotcheting a storm - there has been a quick call for hats, so thats tonight sorted - SCD, chocolate and crotchet!
Have a good evening all

Willow2017 · 11/11/2017 18:34

Evening all. Shift went ok busy at times party of 12 booked in so I was even helping our cook heating up and plating up. (They are brave😀) managed till without screwing up. I am no longer the newbie got a young person started for a couple of shifts so i feel positively adept (wont last!) Its so much better when on with supportive (but crazy) people who actually talk to you. Enjoyed it today.

Hi Flying nice to meet you. Hope the tiredness goes pdq and you feel much more yourself again.

Cake def want photos of cake sounds amazing i wouldnt attempt wings!! Have done simple things like tardis doors and xbox controllers etc on top of cakes but nothing i need to shape it would be a disaster😂😂

Ds2 made tea which was great. Unfortunately they both 'never saw' the washing that was outside ha ha.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 12/11/2017 07:54

morning all yawn I fell asleep with DS at 7, slept for another hour and then went to bed at 10-ish, but another very disturbed night. Planning fairly quiet day with a roast for tea.

Flying that's good to know and I hope you feel better soon.

Willow that sounds like an epic shift - well done you.

With regards to the cake, I have no idea if it will work. I will have to move them tomorrow at lunch time, so it may still end in disaster and no guarantee that if they survive that they will stand up in the cake either!

book I will send Juan a text a bit later - doubt she'd be up so early!

Squirrel have the boys done any baking? We made white chocolate crispy cakes yesterday - I don't like white chocolate, so guess that's a good deterrent Smile

Check in later x

Chasingsquirrels · 12/11/2017 08:33

No baking for a bit cake, they are back on mug cakes atm.
I got both of them a mug cake mug and some packet mixes in their stocking last year, the mixes didn't go down well (4 in a set, ds1 has 3 left and I don't think ds2 even tried his) but the mug cakes mugs did. Quick and and easy and no mess.
I might get ds2 to make some more white chocolate & pistachio fudge today, that was yum.

Long shift Willow, sounds like you are getting settled though and making it work for you and the boys - which is great.

Pah to disturbed night cake, hope you have a nice low-key day.

Boys both going to the scout group parade to the remembrance service in the village today, I gave ds2 the choice as he has hockey Sunday mornings but said I thought he should do he parade/service which he agreed with.
Ds1 Explorer group which is in a nearby town attend the big parade/service there which is in the afternoon and I did suggest he attended both, which didn't go down well. So he is just going to the village one and has emailed the Explorer leader to let him know he is doing so.

Then need to pop to town to pick up some bits this afternoon before we go over to my parents for tea.
Also going to get ds1 to mow the lawn after the service, so ds2 and I can do a bit of housework at the same time.

Chasingsquirrels · 12/11/2017 10:06

Got up and made us all pancakes prompted by a thread on here about ready mixed pancake mix (umm, that's flour isn't it?), yum.
Boys packed off and I'm just about to have and shower.

Pottering tidying up kitchen put washing on then pressed wrong button and it went off! Still getting used to new buttons 😀
Working 12 to 8 busy sundays. Didnt know so many people went out for Sunday lunch all day!

Pancakes sound lovely not made them for a while.

Cake have a proper 'day of rest' today. All those disturbed nights will catch up with you.

bookbook · 12/11/2017 11:41

Morning all!
oh Cake - you must be exhausted . Send love to Juan
Willow - another very busy day for you - don't be going mad ! You have reminded me I need to clean my cooker - that is a job for this week pencilled in
Chasing - you sound very busy and organised . I often wonder about packet mixes - its so easy anyway! Enjoy your day, and tea!
I have just got in from the allotment - boy is that wind chilly- I didn't stay as long as I should because of it . Everyone for tea tonight, so need to get organised. DGS to measure up for cape, DD2 is bringing a dress with a broken zip .I have their spring pots all ready to go home with them tonight, so my little nursery along the west wall is looking a lot tidier, and cleaned and swept now everything is sorted for winter :)
Have a lovely day all x

Chasingsquirrels · 12/11/2017 13:47

You are calling me busy book - the word pot & kettle come to mind Wink.

I've had a good few hours getting the house in order, bathrooms, kitchen & utility all cleaned, ds2 has vacuumed vacuumed and ds1 has mown the lawn.

Just having a sit down then off to town then my parents.

Horsemad · 12/11/2017 14:03

You lot put me to shame! Blush I have done nothing - did go for a walk earlier but back now and relaxing Grin

It is really cold today, so just cuddled up with the cat for company Smile

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 12/11/2017 20:03

You should be resting horse

We had a good day thanks. DS asleep and I may follow soon Blush

ex has annoyed me, no change there but not worth worrying about it too much. busy week ahead but I guess it keeps me out of trouble.

Hope you're all ok. Sound like productive days all round!

bookbook · 12/11/2017 21:28

Evening all
Just a quick down tools of crotchet hook ( due to DH bringing me through a Magnum Blush )
Horse - you are recuperating - that takes a lot of energy up.
Cake - good to hear you have had a good day :)
Hope Willow is sat with feet up !
Good afternoon here - lots done. DGS is in a Christmas thing called 'Born in a Barn" - with catchy songs. there are lots of parts, and everyone has some words-apart from Mary, Joseph and Jesus Grin . It seems he chose to be an owl - he could have been a sheep/cat/dog/cockerel/camel/owl . He is already singing the songs pretty well , so they must be doing a bit of rehearsal!
A bit of work to do tomorrow, tea to make, pick up DGS from school. Rush home and then out for a committee meeting.
Sleep well all
Thoughts and Prayers

Willow2017 · 12/11/2017 22:53

Evening
Better late than never😀
Very busy at work till late on. I am still making the odd misteak but getting there. Gradually remembering the proceedures for each meal! But neck and back sore tonight 8 hours is a long time on your feet when you aren't used to it😀
Everyone else as busy as usual. Horse behave you arent supposed to be doing anything but relaxing.
Book the xmas play sounds fun will be great to watch all those chatacters😀

Packed lunches done think kids have uniform for tomorrow so am heading to bed after my cuppa.

Got couple of hours after kids leave for school before work tomorrow might just sit on my bum!

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 13/11/2017 07:19

Morning

Willow you should either go back to bed or sit on your bum!

I thought we slept well, but DH says it was a rough night - I obviously just slept through it...but no coughing from DS so off to school we go.

Hope you enjoyed the magnum book DH and I shared a waffle with ice cream yesterday - was lovely and he told me off for making us share as he says he could have had a whole one

Sent Juan a text and Selena a PM but not heard anything back from either.

Horsemad · 13/11/2017 09:03

Morning Cake Smile I got woken by DH leaving for work at some ungodly hour (was probably 7am but I couldn't see the clock! Grin). Am still in bed MNing.

Willow, I really hope you spend your child free time this morning doing NOTHING!

I love school Xmas plays book, I used to get really choked up when my two were in them (soppy mother alert!)

I hope you hear back soon from Juan & Selena, Cake. I want to know if Selena's kitchen is finished Smile

Willow2017 · 13/11/2017 10:27

Morning all
Well not all my time on my bum! Put washing on but its looking very dodgy out there so will have to leave it for now. Sorted out dry stuff too. Cancelling boys subscription for Beano they have started to change the characters and they dont like it any more. Plus they are getting old for it I suspect, Sad another childhood memory going.

Did sit and watch tv over a croissant though Smile

Nearly time to go where did the time go? No time for anything else. Havent even organised something for tea yet bad mum!

Have a great day folks.

bookbook · 13/11/2017 10:50

Morning all
just sat with a coffee while stuff is simmering on the hob for tea. Need to feed the birds, wash the kitchen floor, then off to a quick shop and post off a parcel . Were does the morning go?
Willow - there are little signpost along the way always to growing up, and each of them give you a little heart pang . One of mine was the first time DD insisted she wanted to walk to school with her friends , not me...
Cake - I bet you slept through because you were so tired. The body can only take so much.
I do hope Selena and Juan are okay
Horse - bed is surely the best place to recuperate :) I love school Xmas plays too - I am hoping I can go to this one !
Well, those birds are going hungry .. better get on
Have a good day all x

Willow2017 · 13/11/2017 18:29

Brrrrr its freezing today. And wet.

Not as busy at work but cleaning busy! Was frozen cleaning out all the fridges! (And they are huge and many!)
Book i got to go collect my two longer than i could have due to taking mindees for walks that way😉 tbh once my kids came out i might as well have not been there they fought over who got to hold hands with them! But once it was only my youngest he preferred his bike to walking with me and mindees.😀
Cake good for you you obviously needed it.hope you had a quiet day.
Hope Selenas kitchen is finished and she is too busy being 'Nigella' to post.
Hugs to Juan too.

JuanPotatoTwo · 13/11/2017 22:18

Hello lovely ladies. I am very shame-facedly putting my head round the door to say please will you come over to Chat to see some pictures of our wonderful Woolly Hug which arrived today.

I didn’t feel able to put it on here because I’ve been missing in action for so long that I’m embarrassed :(. And I know the thread will have evolved and moved on, and I didn’t want to ride rough shod over anyone’s feelings. Mrs Cake (I’ve just realised I don’t know what her posting name is any more!) has been so wonderful at keeping in touch and passing on all your good wishes. I haven’t been here but I promise I haven’t forgotten anyone or the amazing support you all gave so willingly, and I do think of you often. I don’t think I would have got through this far (37 weeks today) without all the wisdom and love you all dispensed. I’d like to say I’m doing great, but it’s probably more accurate to say I’m doing ok (sometimes!).

November’s proving to be a difficult month as I knew it would - both mine and Mark’s birthdays are coming up, and of course Christmas is looming. Of all the Xmas ads, the one which has really got to me is the Lidl one for mince pies - Mark loved them and used to eat them by the box! But we’ll get through it, and I hope that you Squirrells and you Selena, and anyone else who I may not be up to date with, are doing ok too. X

Horsemad · 13/11/2017 22:20

Oh Juan, good to hear from you. Flowers I will go and check out your post on Chat.

magimedi · 13/11/2017 22:59

As I said in Chat I haven't posted for an age as life has intervened (PM winging its way, El Pesky Juan) but lovely to 'see' you again.
