Oh dear - I just posted the 1000 thread. Hope we all find this one.

Selena hugs back.
I just miss him, not particular things as such, just the essence of John.
And if I think about that I just ache for him and tears just leak from my eyes.
So, mostly, I don't think about it I just carry on.

Hello Juan it is so lovely to see you. Will go find the thread.

Hi magi

book you made me giggle with you "busty" day Grin

Up too early Sad

bookbook · 14/11/2017 09:07

Morning all!
busty Blush - tired fat fingers , but ..... not wrong either!
Cake - pah on the sleep. DGS woke at 3 the other morning, - DD has put a folded up fleece on top of his duvet, and that seems to have helped him feel cosy , no more wake ups yet ( fingers crossed)
Not much on today - need to jump in the shower , pop to the market for eggs and milk. So - I think I am going to do a deep kitchen clean , its looking a bit murky outside
Have a good day all

Willow2017 · 14/11/2017 12:37

Hi all
well this is the day from hell!
I am mortified! I finally have lost the plot went to work at the wrong time! Dont start till 4 what a twit, will never live it down Smile
Oh well have time to do all my jobs now. Could have spent more time shopping, need a new kettle mine packed in and having to boil pans of water for my cuppa.

I am going to tell them that its a compliment to them that despite still feeling like a rabbit caught in the headlights sometimes trying to remember everything I still keep going back and even 4 hours early! Hoping they buy that and not my senility Grin

Cake poor you, dont know how you do it. I hate mornings much prefer nights.

Quick shower of rain earlier but sunny now so washing out fingers crossed.
Onwards and upwards (cant go any further down todayWink )

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 14/11/2017 13:01

LOL Willow

Tired! need to go to a thing at school tonight with DS in tow as DH is working late. Going to be fun Hmm

Hope you're all having a good day...

Chasingsquirrels · 14/11/2017 17:06

I smiled at book's busty day as well.
Ah Willow how annoying!
Lovely to have Juan pop in yesterday.
Hope your school thing is ok this evening cake.

Another couple of busy days for me work wise, do think I am ploughing through things though - which is needed.

Went out for dinner with a couple of ladies from my widow group last night which was good, then stayed up far too late playing sorting out my new phone.

Just home and had a snack then taking the boys to their jogging club shortly, thankfully a friend also goes on Tuesday so I take and his mum brings them all home.

OP posts:
TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 14/11/2017 21:05

Didn't go in the end - DS was just too done in and the dark side confirmed that they would be in attendance.

I've spent about 40 minutes doing some self care - foot soak in epsom salts, foot file, nails cut and foot cream on. Read my book while soaking which was also nice. Lady garden sorted and then also a special neck and should stress yoga thingy on YouTube. Now I just need DS to sleep well tonight!

Lovely if you can share the driving load Squirrels Nothing as tedious as driving backwards and forwards multiple times or having to hang around somewhere random for them.

Hope you survived your shift Willow and that you weren't mocked too much Wink

book I hope you had a good day too. Any pointers for wool/hook to start me off doing granny squares?

Night all!

bookbook · 14/11/2017 21:41

evening all
well, just put down the crotchet for a minute , to rest the fingers.
Felt quite emotional today with reading Juans thread about her hug .
I have plodded today, not 100%, so taken it rather easier than I had intended.
Willow - oh no! it is infuriating ( like the time I turned up for a committee meeting, and had the right day, wrong week Blush ) And now the kettle gone . Hope everything sorted itself out .
Chasing - its good when you can get some reciprocation with lifts- it gives you a bit of breathing space .
Cake - It is unfair to drag them out, so wise decision I think . Good to hear you are doing a bit of pampering. It makes everything seem just a bit better :)
I would start with any reasonable double knitting yarn - a lot of the Woolly Hugs are made using Stylecraft Special DK ,(which is excellent for the price) and a 4mm hook . I wouldn't go too expensive on the hook - DD started with a little set off ebay, and once she knew it was something she enjoyed and wanted to carry on with, she went onto a better one ( I use a clover armour - its ergonomic, and nice to use, ) . Then onto youtube and Bella Coco tutorials - they are good, simple and easy to follow .
Right - back to the coal face Grin
Sleep well all

Willow2017 · 14/11/2017 23:33

Shift was reasonably quiet. Got finished on time tonight. No teasing thankfully. Told them today was going so well then i got up😀😀 felt a bit weird myself at times bit light headed just not 100% no doubt be passed in morning.

Been watching twd with ds2 now Frankenstien Chronicles.

Cake sounds like a nice evening you deserve it.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 15/11/2017 06:44

Thanks for the advice book now I can give clear instructions Grin Slept reasonably well and DS had a decent amount, so hopefully a better day ahead.

Willow I think you're probably trying to adjust to the new regime which has been a big change. Hope that today is calmer for you.

I think the Woolly hugs is an amazing thing book you can feel proud of your part in it.

Willow2017 · 15/11/2017 08:18

Morning.
Hopefully a better day today.😀
Going shopping for a kettle once kids off to school and for coffee and croissant for my mini oasis of peace.

Otherwise housework day oh joy.

Frosty this morning.

Need to be thinking of xmas too. Kids are hard to buy for as they are getting xbox 1 from thier dad he is going to let me know what games are with it before i get anything and as games are expensive they wont be getting much more this year. Ds both want more nerf type guns they saw but am trying to disuade them as they have so many already.

Any ideas what to get a grandad who wants nothing?🤔

Horsemad · 15/11/2017 09:09

Cake, I'm thinking of learning to crochet too (was taught the basics years ago but forgotten it all now) so maybe we can learn together? I can knit but haven't done that either for a long time.

Could do with doing something that keeps me off the internet!

Willow, happy kettle hunting Grin mine is one of those glass ones; I like it but it needs regular rescaling to keep looking nice because our water is hard here.

I am still lounging in bed but will get up in a minute. Very murky here today; need to go for a walk, missed out yesterday.

Horsemad · 15/11/2017 09:11

PS Willow, does the grandad like gardening? Or, my go to in these situations is Afternoon Tea somewhere lovely ☺️
(Can you tell what I'm hoping someone buys me for Xmas?! Grin)

bookbook · 15/11/2017 09:34

Morning all
Just about to get going - washing to put out and a bit of housework before the allotment visit.
Cake - good to hear you got a better nights sleep. ( I forgot to say - my crotchet hook is a bit more expensive, which is why I only have the one - its about £6 )
Willow - happy kettle hunting! And give yourself a good long 'peace' time - I think you deserve it.
Horse - murky here too, but a bit of lightness . Crochet can get addictive, and will eat up a lot of time, but as long as I have a goal in mind, I do find it very de-stressing :)
mm Grandad presents are always tough - they are old enough to have most things, and also to know what they like/don't like . My FIL loved home made things - so biscuits , cakes etc but also loved music, books ...erm . Can you do a calendar with pictures of DS's on - we got one from DD a couple of years ago- you send off the photos and someone compiles it for you.
Must be off
Have a good day all

Willow2017 · 15/11/2017 14:31

Phew!
Started my Xmas shopping.Shock Got books for kids (and me), a dvd, some sweets and most of my aunt's present (lots of wild bird food and a new 'cup and saucer' feeder) She spends a fortune feeding the birds in her garden and appreciates a 'boost' to her suppplies as she really doesnt want anything Xmassy. WIll get her some chocs to eat while she watches their antics.

Done my Xmas spreadsheet to keep track of it all!

Got a new airer for kids room as the one in there is falling to bits. Oh and a new kettle. Was going to go to Currys as they have a sale on but once I had done all that and was already in B&M I just got a cheap one in there. As long as it boils water thats all I need. Smile

Got some food shopping too, was shattered by the end of it but just took my time today and had a lovely roasted hazelnut latte with cream and my croissant and didnt want to move, my book is too good!
Have sorted out washing, didnt bother putting it out as far too cold.

Got an hour before have to go for kids so I might just sit and do nothing...

Book not sure if he has a garden now since he moved into hew house. Will have to check with ex. If ex not going down to visit before Xmas or he isnt coming up it will need to be postable. Was thinking about the callender, will have to have a look through all the photos. Was also thinking about the home baking, maybe some fudge too. Arghghghghg.

Chasingsquirrels · 15/11/2017 16:46

Murky day here, hens not looking very happy - and no eggs.
Ds1 was meant to be cooking toad in the hole but I've said I'll make a cottage pie as the mince is use by today plus we only have one small egg so wouldn't make much batter!

Is the grandad present the boys grandad on their dad's side Willow? If it's from the boys tell your ex to sort it!
(If it's from you then ignore me ☺).

Arrghh what else did everyone say ...

Ohh, cake sounds like you had a nice pamper yesterday evening.

Busy day for you Willow, hope you had a relaxing hour before you went for the kids.

My boys say a new Nerf in Tesco at the weekend that they both want for christmas, but we have a small armoury of the things and they don't really use them so much now - so I said no. Plus I can see the puppy chewing all the bullets (only just thought of that).

Did you get out for your walk horse?

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 15/11/2017 18:54

Hello all

Feel like I could sob into my chocolate! Been a tough day but we're heading towards bed time and a cuddle with DH. Grateful that there is someone to share the load. Really am!

I have 2 stocking fillers and one small present! I won't go shopping for big stuff till closer to the time.

Horse it's a deal - I also need to do less surfing on the net. Did quite a bit of colouring, but the kids started using my felt tips so now it doesn't feel like it's just for me anymore - even if they were only from The Works.

Oh no, Squirrels no eggs!

Catch you all in the morning in between icing making and cleaning and cup cake decorating.

bookbook · 15/11/2017 20:42

Evening all
oh Cake - hope you are okay , sounds like you have had a tough day :( Take care . My DD does colouring too, but crochet has displaced it . I think it is due to the satisfaction of making something you can use IYSWIM - she mostly makes little blankets for friends having babies and such, and enjoys the gifting :)
Chasing -poor hens - don't they lay less eggs in winter anyway?
Nerf guns are a bit of a no-no here for DGS - son in law is very strict on no guns of any description. It is his only line in the sand, so we abide by it. He does have swords and a light saber though :)
Willow - well, I'll be honest, I do have a few bits for Christmas - nothing much. Just a lego thing for DGS that was in the sale last month, and some nice bath soak salts for DD1 so far.
What I do have to do is check when I need to send my overseas cards - I'm sure its the first week in December , but I hate to leave it late .
I've had an odd day - was busy this morning , came home and was pottering most of the afternoon. DD2 was coming through for evening meal. And then a friend messaged me - I missed our craft meeting- I had put it down for next Wednesday , not this. I obviously cannot count to the 3rd Wednesday in the month on the calendar ....

Willow2017 · 15/11/2017 21:43

Squirrels hah he wouldnt get anything if i left it to him!

We have a box full of netf guns and another with attatchments and other weapons and kit. To be fair they will chose a non nerf gun if they like it. Poor hens it is getting kind of chilly for them hope they find thier egg mojo soon.

Cake sounds like a bad day hope you get time for snuggles with dh.

Chasing laughing at the no guns rule (in a kind, been there way) i was like that with ds1 but he just used his fingers, sticks and duplo! No encouragement from us, no violent tv etc but once he was watching kids tv for a while all those 'heroes' had space guns etc so i gave in once he was older. He hasnt turned into a serial killer yet and they both understand about real guns.

Been to TQD got a bit cold sitting in the car but was enjoying my book.

Need to do packed lunches yet..ds1 was on trip today at farming and fishing thing. Learned how to gut a mackerel and made some bread. Its quite good for a first attempt ( better than mine😉)

bookbook · 15/11/2017 22:19

That was me Willow on the no gun thing . I will admit , there are some teeny tiny ones on some lego figures ........
Sounds like a good learning session for DS1 - if he can gut fish, and make bread , he is going to be okay!
Sleep well all
Thoughts and Prayers

Horsemad · 16/11/2017 04:20

Can't sleep!

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 16/11/2017 06:43

Oh no horse hope you got some shut eye. Guessing you're all out of sorts with no routine at the moment. How are you doing otherwise?

book/willow I found similar too - they just make guns. We have a pop gun but nothing else, but much lego with firing mechanisms including a Duplo canon Grin lightsabers, swords etc

Still no word from Selena

Today should be better - school run and cake decorating.

Chasingsquirrels · 16/11/2017 07:36

Hope you managed to get some sleep horsemad x

Watched tv with ds1 a bit too late, then needed to empty the washing machine and hand on the airer, then read so am tired now. Ds2 only just awake (usually just before 7am), so he just came in to say hello instead of for a cuddle.

OP posts:
bookbook · 16/11/2017 09:21

Morning
Horse - is it due to not doing as much as normal? I find fresh air everyday helps , and something to keep me occupied . I end up almost lethargic otherwise, and then find it difficult to sleep. Hard for you, as you need to recuperate .
Cake - cake decorating is stressful ! hope it goes according to plan :) I'm off for a haircut and a bit of shopping . ( I promised a bottle of wine for a raffle prize, and I don't have anything suitable I can palm off give).
Then a stint at the allotment. We may need to pick DGS up, but will know later
Have a good day all
