Oh dear - I just posted the 1000 thread. Hope we all find this one.

Selena hugs back.
I just miss him, not particular things as such, just the essence of John.
And if I think about that I just ache for him and tears just leak from my eyes.
So, mostly, I don't think about it I just carry on.

hello

Just come back from the coffee morning. It's amazing to see children go in and get cake - like locusts who've never seen cake before! They looked and taste OK in the end. I'm just so tired that I'm struggling.

DS slept till 5:45, so that's something I guess.

Hope you have a lovely day Squirrel hmmm, the overdose of smelly stuff - so much to look forward to Wink

horse I like the name change Grin

Teens and computers are enough to send anyone over the edge willow Hope you're OK today.

Who's birthday is it this time book and what's on the menu? I think here it will be dry bread and water! (well there's a honey glazed ham in the fridge so probably that and crusty bread and crudites, but still)

Weather stormy today and worse forecast tomorrow when we're out with 4 children for a holiday treat Hmm

Check in with you all tonight x

bookbook · 20/10/2017 13:02

Quick sit down and a check in
Chasing -mmm in a funny sort of way, maybe roll on is not so nice to use if he already has hair there , easier to spray loads thinking it helps - poor teenagers , I'm glad mine are past that.
Cake - there comes a time when you just have to let all the balls drop, and get some sleep - hope you manage that soon .
Birthday tea is for son in law ( on a side note - is it weird in our close family - 4 birthdays in just over a week at the end of Jan/beginning Feb, then another 4 over 2 weeks in October? ). He likes to set me a challenge normally, but he is 40 this year, so teasingly told me to choose a 70's theme :) I'm doing duck breasts in orange sauce , new potatoes, carrots, peas , garlic mushrooms , then a Baked Alaska - that was the height of sophistication back then! Had a bit of a nightmare finding non soft scoop ice cream though.......Just made some vanilla muffins which I shall top with some chocolate -I'm not doing a birthday cake, so he can take them home for tomorrow , which is his birthday.
Right - off I go

Willow2017 · 20/10/2017 14:56

Afternoon all.

Everyone busy as usual! Book you spoil your family Smile Baked Alaska yummmm. (I like duck but never had it with orange sauce tbh think I will stick to hoisin or plum Wink)

Cake I am surprised you are standing never mind doing everything else. Spend the week end doing absolutely nothing. (yes I know you wont but its worth a try Smile )

Made some pumpkin/choc biscuits. Taste nice but very soft no matter how long I left them (there was enough mix for 50 of the damm things! Should have added more flour probably) Kids love them so thats ok.

Appartently the gov website thing was a common problem so Job Centre guy is going to look for the 'fix' for me.

Been dry since early am so off to see if washing has actually dried as very little wind.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 20/10/2017 17:04

Hmmm the most restful day will be Sunday as we're going to the cinema. I'm working 3 days, DD has an ortho appointment, DS is doing swimming lessons half an hour each day and did I mention taking out 4 kids tomorrow Grin

The menu sounds great book have a good evening.

Hope you're sorted soon Willow Did the teacher call back at all?

SelenaValentina · 20/10/2017 17:12

Hi Everyone,

Strange day here, wet, dry, wet now mainly dry. Loads of warnings about next bout of stormy weather.

Splashback on, tiler finished, decorator almost finished kitchen area bit, starting lounge on Monday. Neighbours away until Thursday and say I'm welcome to retreat to theirs whenever necessary. Smile, that's kindness.

Reassuring (if frustrating) that it's not you re website, Willow?

Baked Alaska, scrummy, some here please book.

Hope you eventually manage some rest cake. Have to say I'll be glad when able to have a weekday lie in later than 7 a.m. Mornings not my thing.

Love the new name, Horse.

HeadlessHorsemad · 20/10/2017 17:42

Thanks, seasonal isn't it? Wink Although more like HeadlessChicken today, as so very busy at work- a crazy day!

Willow2017 · 20/10/2017 18:08

Cake no but its half day today and was really too late by time i realised!
Will be on warpath Monday.

Tea in oven planning lazy pm. Although getting annoyed with ds2 apparent immobility stopping him coming down and seeing to his gps.
No wonder i have grey hairs!

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 20/10/2017 20:06

DD and I are trying to catch up with the bake off. Just finished Italian week.

selena that sounds like great progress and kind neighbours!

Putting DD to bed now and then going to watch a bit of only connect and have I got news for you - so rock and roll!

Night all x

bookbook · 20/10/2017 22:33

Evening all
Just had a quiet evening doing crotchet and knitting - relaxing after the family left.
After all the kitchen tidied, I'm sorry to say, no baked alaska was left.
All I do have is enough new potatoes left to do tea tomorrow , and 3 buns .......... Grin
Cake - I think Sunday definitely needs to be a rest day then , your calendar is always full . I love Only Connect - wasn't too bad tonight, me and DH did okay .
Selena - great news on the kitchen, and what lovely neighbours
Willow - at least now you know its not you mucking up the website. What a farce !
Horse - sounds like you are ready for a quiet weekend too.
Right, hot chocolate and bed for me I think
Sleep tight
Thoughts and Prayers

HeadlessHorsemad · 20/10/2017 23:01

No quiet weekend for me - I'm off to visit DS! Grin and also meeting up with friends in his uni city on Sunday, so a nice weekend planned.

Really looking forward to seeing him.

Hope everyone else has a good weekend too.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 21/10/2017 06:47

That sounds great Horse have a lovely time.

I'm just quietly going round doing bits. Have already got the washing on and dishwasher emptied and restacked. Going for a shower now and then promised the children banana pancakes for breakfast.

DH and DD cooking tonight so that will be nice.

Hope you don't starve with your new potatoes and buns today book Wink

HeadlessHorsemad · 21/10/2017 07:28

Oooh, banana pancakes, yum! Smile fancy those myself.

Chasingsquirrels · 21/10/2017 07:53

Have a good weekend visiting ds2 horse

Thanks chasing, hope you feel better soon.

bookbook · 21/10/2017 13:57

Afternoon all
Hoping everyone is having a good Saturday.
I have been down at the allotment most of the morning . This afternoon doing a big beef casserole ready for tomorrow ( and some for freezer) Having a quick sit down and then pottering in the garden, making up my spring pots , and battening down pots that may get blown over.
Its quite breezy, but probably not as bad as further south, so hope you are all safe and sound .
Ugh Chasing - lots of liquids, paracetamol and tlc - hope it goes quickly.

SelenaValentina · 21/10/2017 15:59

Ugh. Turned into horrid wet windy dark afternoon.

Did Navigatoring shift, now home and enjoying hot chocolate (and Aldi Chocolate Coated Honeycomb Blush).

Keep warm and safe, everyone.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 21/10/2017 17:33

Hello, we had a surprisingly good day. Spent some time out as planned, had a few showers and quite windy, so came home and let them all play here till 4pm. Now just need to hang on till bed time when I can stop properly.

hope you feel better soon Squirrel and pass some Honeycomb here Selena

Hope Willow's shift has gone well and she's not had to do so much washing up as last week.

Willow2017 · 21/10/2017 17:34

Evening all

Oh I am aching! Damm place went like a fair for hours, (they are all blaming me! Cos its not usually like this on a saturday) couldnt keep up with the dishes or tables, they were queueing out the door! But finding my feet a bit more so thats good.

Having a cuppa then have to get changed and go to this flamming party. I just want to lie down Smile
Thankfully ds2 found a costume that fits so no faffing with him.

Have a good pm all, Squirrels take care plenty fluids and chocolate works wonders Smile

bookbook · 21/10/2017 22:59

Just popping in to say goodnight
I have been watching strictly , and crotchet of course!
Willow - if you are not careful, you will be there all the time - you are obviously attracting in new customers :) . Hope you enjoyed the party, and you can put your feet up
Cake - that sounds like a better day !
Selena - love hot chocolate/chocolate /honeycomb, so yes , wouldn't mind a bit at all
It didn't rain here until 6 -ish. Really glad I didn't need to be outdoors .Sounded horrible
Hope Chasing is okay , and Horse is enjoying her trip to see DS
Sleep well all
Thoughts and Prayers

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 22/10/2017 06:31

Morning all

DS woke early again so here we all are....DH still snoozing but I'm going to go back to bed for an hour once he gets up.

We're off to the cinema and other than doing a roast, it will just be washing and DD doing some homework - she's got a pile of maths.

Willow I hope you 2 enjoyed the party and that you can move this morning. I wonder if the bad weather encouraged people inside?

book hope you have a nice day, I need to go and see my seedlings outside - they're buried under fallen leaves!

Hope you feel better Squirrel and horse I hope you got some sleep and you have a nice time with DS.

Chasingsquirrels · 22/10/2017 09:19

Ugh yesterday wasn't very good.
Got a few jobs done in the morning, ds2 washed the hard floors then I flaked.
Took ds1 to archery and sat on a hard plastic chair for 2 hours in my big winter coat to keep warm - while the archers were all on t-shirts (!!). Apart from that basically veged on the sofa all afternoon and evening.
Very snotty last night but not so bad this morning, so fingers crossed it's shortlived.
Ds2 off to a hockey match this morning, his friends dad has taken them and picked him up just before 9am, so glad I don't have to do that.

Hope you got a bit of extra sleep cake.

OP posts:
bookbook · 22/10/2017 09:38

Morning all
Cake - just doing that? It sounds like a full day to me! Hope you manage to catch up on some of your sleep.
Chasing - rest is aways the best - it allows to your body to use its energy fighting off bugs.
I should be going to the allotment this morning but

  1. it has only just stopped raining, so the ground will be too wet
  2. change of plan for today - DB is coming after lunch to help DH do a couple of DIY things which I can't help with. So I am making tea for him, and lovely partner who is also coming. Sad thing is , I did a great big casserole yesterday, which I (unknowingly) put flour in to thicken. And DB's partner can't do gluten ...
So I am off to the supermarket to get some bits to do a chicken bake thing shortly -it's a nice recipe I have , and we haven't had it for a while . I don't mind in truth - Its windy and damp, so I can slob around at home :) Have a good day all
HeadlessHorsemad · 22/10/2017 11:05

Just quickly checking in, having a lovely time with DS ☺️
He got me a massive bar of Galaxy (my fave ❤️) as a Get Well gift as I'm having my op this week. Such a sweet lad.

Weather fine but blustery here; we are off out to brave the elements soon!

Willow2017 · 22/10/2017 13:27

Horse aww how lovely.
Squirrels keep on veging out its good for you if you are feeling grotty.
Everyone busy as usual. Book spoiling everyone as usual.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 22/10/2017 19:13

Hi

I'm going out for a run in a minute. Will see how I go as my left foot and knee has been playing up this week - haven't been out since last Sunday. In the end a fairly good day though I don't recommend the Ninjago movie for anyone over 12.

Why is the cinema so damned expensive!?

Willow I hope that you're OK after another shift and that you get your rota which won't involve both weekend days next week!

Squirrels hope you are feeling better today. A bit of your mum's TLC to cheer you up?

Horse you're going to have to remind me what your op is for (for the others - we both posted on a bad sleeping thread in chat) I know that it got cancelled a while ago, but my brain is sieve like.

book I hope your day was good even if the weather stopped you getting into the allotment.

Thinking of Juan and all the other widows/widowers.
