Oh dear - I just posted the 1000 thread. Hope we all find this one.

Selena hugs back.
I just miss him, not particular things as such, just the essence of John.
And if I think about that I just ache for him and tears just leak from my eyes.
So, mostly, I don't think about it I just carry on.

At least its stopped raining!

Horsemad · 18/10/2017 08:46

Sympathies cake, mine didn't get up too early at that age but I can remember how tired I was if they did!!
Has he always been an early riser?

Enjoy the volunteering Willow, are you off to your fave coffee shop too?

Hope you are ok chasing - don't stop your DS making the tasty stuff! Smile I might make flapjacks today - been hankering after them.

Glad all house stuff going well book & Selena. Are you cooking Christmas Dinner in your new kitchen Selena?

I'm out for lunch AND then meeting a friend for coffee this afternoon!!! Love my day off from work Grin

bookbook · 18/10/2017 09:51

Morning all
a lovely calm, bright morning here - quite a bit cooler than recently.
I ahve put two loads of washing out, and its just hanging at the moment. Hope it dries
Horse - those are the best sort of days - enjoy!
Willow - I can't believe how much rain you get - does it ever stop? Hope you don't have too many aches and pains .
Cake - my DM used to say sleep begets sleep. Not in the least sure how to break the cycle though, some children just don't, even if they are overtired. It will be even worse when the clocks go back - I am feeling such sympathy , but I am out of suggestions , as I am sure you have done all the obvious things such as black out blinds, and bedtime routines . ( ooh - just one thing - DGS is a devil for kicking off covers, DD found putting socks on him helps enormously ) I think you need some (hugs) to get you through.
Hope everyone else is okay, have a good day! Off to my craft chat now

Willow2017 · 18/10/2017 10:25

Arghhhhh!
Another mix up. So gave done not quite an hour and had to finish. I know its a busy place, constant targets to reach, staffing to sort out etc but still a bit peeved. Changed times for next week so fingers crossed and goin in tomorrow instead. Nothing is ever simple us it?
Going to get the bits I need for baking so sitting having a coffee first and read my book

Cake i dint kniw how you do it. I remember the tiredness but mine were never that early once they were past the baby stage. I got long lies till 6 ish compared to you😀

SelenaValentina · 18/10/2017 10:58

Gosh Willow that is appalling. Why can't they get their act together? Is it 'oh they're volunteers so all the time in the world and they're grateful to us for giving them something to do' mentality?

Or plain incompetence?

Beautiful day here, threatening more storms over weekend. Just typical Illuminations' weather to me!

Off for physio then mooch/coffee in my fugitive from decorator rôle. Smile

Hope as sunny a day for all?

Willow2017 · 18/10/2017 12:25

They started another volunteer doing something else but they need the office! Completely forgetting i am in at that time! Tbf they were very apologetic but still. Being a bit of a grump as parked in farthest away (long stay) car park as planned to make up time i missed yesterday so 2 long walks for nothing 😞

Oh well got my baking stuff and a couple of pumpkins and ordered a new 'house' for inside gp hutch so not a total waste of time.

Sun is out now so fingers crossed it stays till washing ready.

Enjoy your coffee.

bookbook · 18/10/2017 19:44

Evening all
had a lovely day - all morning crocheting , drinking coffee and nattering. This afternoon at the allotment , digging compost Grin . DH has made a great big batch cook of bolognese sauce, so I didn't have to cook either , what's not to like !
Off for a bath, and then a tussle with a special blanket square , and a watch of Grand Designs .
Willow - I think a lot of management in charity shops is slipshod tbh. DH works at PAT testing for a local charity
shop. Manageress is great, but when she isn't there , it goes to pot. She asked DH to test a portable DVD player , as someone had asked to buy it when it had been tested. DH did it, took it straight back, warning deputy about it. A week later, he goes to do some more testing - silly devil deputy had put it back on the shelves of stuff to be tested ... !
Hope evryone is okay - now off for a good soak !

Willow2017 · 18/10/2017 21:25

Sounds like a lovely day Book.

They seem to be constantly doing stuff. Moving stock restocking shop swapping stuff its relentless. I am sure she has a lot on her plate but not remembering someone comes in 2 mornings a week is a bit much😀

Got tickets for halloween party on sat for me and ds2. Ds2 tried last years costume and its too small! Its a really good one too damm! Oh well normal clothes and zombie make up it is then. I can do that no problem.😀

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 18/10/2017 22:06

Hello all!

I have survived and now requalified for fist aid for 3 years so that's good! Just wish I had some energy left.

book my granny said the same but more in relation to small ones where a nap n the day helps the night. I'm hoping he will mellow a bit over half term as I can't cope with the thought of the clock change as things stand Shock

willow that is just ludicrous. Any update on cafe shifts? You really love Halloween dint you? Taking DS to school disco tomorrow. After all that, he's going ad a skeleton so need to return werewolf costume.

I'm so behind on the bake off, DD and I will need to binge watch with DD on Friday night. Did you make flapjacks horse?

Had a heavy downpour here selena but otherwise ok and not cold.

Hope you got some sleep squirrel

Sleep well all. I'm ready to zonk out.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 18/10/2017 22:07

Excus typos Blush

Willow2017 · 18/10/2017 22:46

Cake
I am working the weekend the same as last weekend but they will try to have a rota done ready for me so I dont have to work every sat and sun every weekend. Fingers crossed its not wed!

Raining off and on here all pm just heavy showers but annoying when driving.

Ha ha we love halloween here. I am not fussed about the party tbh I will only know a couple of people I think but ds will love it. (I am not good in that type of situation if I dont know people)

Willow2017 · 18/10/2017 22:46

Damm pressed the wrong bit!

Have a good night Cake fingers crossed for a 'long lie' in morning.

bookbook · 18/10/2017 23:02

Just popping in to say night, sleep tight
fingers crossed for you Cake - I think it works in adults too. I can go on holiday and not do much at all, and sleep really well on a night - it is the relaxing that helps :)
Thoughts and Prayers

Chasingsquirrels · 18/10/2017 23:17

Just waving hello.

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 19/10/2017 06:31

6am which is moderately better...but poor DH was up till the early hours. He was told yesterday he's moving sites today and 6 weeks into term being given all new classes bar his late night one and they wanted him to do a twilight session another evening and take a lesson on Friday afternoon when he uses his TOIL from the late night. He told them where to go with regards the timetable, but is moving sites.

Today I will be baking for school. And mostly just trying to survive to half term.

Waves to you all

Chasingsquirrels · 19/10/2017 07:19

Ugh dark mornings. Is it black at 6am cake?
Ds2 comes in for a cuddle at 7am, but I don't think he ia a great sleeper. He said he woke at 3am, then just after 6am and read.

OP posts:
bookbook · 19/10/2017 09:27

Morning all
grey and damp here, due rain.
Cake - you are trapped in the middle of non sleepers , poor thing. But poor DH too ( teacher ) the schools really push them to the limit, and squeeze out every drop. Wafting you energy, and maybe chance to have a catnap or two to keep you sane .
Chasing - yes it is. It is this time of year I feel so thankful I have retired . Going to work, and returning from work in the dark is so soul destroying . I didn't have to get up until 6.30 though then !
Just off to jump in the shower. Doing a DGS pick up today, so we are off early to get some shopping done firs for son in law birthday tea tomorrow night , and calling into the joys of Tool Station , for essential stuff :)
Due to rain all day ....
have a good day all

Willow2017 · 19/10/2017 10:44

Morning.

Been drooling over Gerard Butler on Lorraine while sorting out the clean washing there is so much of it! Realised i have so much to do today as have job centre and work tomorrow so extra day of volunteering may fall by the wayside .

Taking piles of washing upstairs and then jumping in shower then stripping beds is next. What an exciting day😀 still waiting on ohone call from school!

TheWorldIsMyCakePop · 19/10/2017 11:11

I've got cakes in the oven, but not much has gone right so far today, so hoping they're OK.

He's in FE book which has less pressure on prep and marking but they are soooo disorganised it's embarrassing!

Hope the teacher calls Willow

Squirrel it is dark, but not as dark as 5am which really is pitch black!

HeadlessHorsemad · 19/10/2017 23:58

Hope the cakes turned out well Cake - I did make the flapjacks, they were lovely - all gone now Shock

chasing, do your street lights go off at midnight? Ours do and I can't believe how dark it is in the mornings without them.

Aah Willow, another Gerard Butler fan here, I lurrrve him ❤️ Smile

Hope you got all your shopping done book. It was very grey and murky here too today, I was glad to be at work tbh.

Willow2017 · 20/10/2017 00:18

Evening all

Busy day, did not get volunteering done, nor did school phone!

Will try again tomorrow.
Ten tons of washing sorted, 2 lots done and put out...then at 4.30 realised it was raining!

Still got my bed to make up but was dozing on sofa earlier and then had a long chat on phone with my aunt.

Big row with ds1 over his attitude etc, got a bit toe to toe but I am a stubborn ol coot and even though he is 6 inches taller than me I dont back down, I just remind him he is a child and its my house my rules. Phone has been surgically remove and staying that way for some time. He came down and meekly apologised but he can whistle! I aint falling for that Wink Bloody teens!

Technology strikes again! Added some password protector on my pc security thingamybob (avast) and when I went on the gov web site to to my checking in it came up incorrect password/user name so I had to go through the rigmarole of getting new password and username sent to me then despite having the Hello Willow at the top of the page it wanted me to put in all my details again then decided that I needed a new account then decided I couldnt because my email was already being used by 'someone' no shit sherlock! Will be informing them at job centre tomorrow.

Well so much for an early night!

Horse no fair you ate all the flapjacks! He was talking about his motorbike accident recently and I thought "ooh ex nurse at your service Gerard" Wink sighs..... Love all his action stuff but P.S. I Love you has him and Jeffrey Dean Anderson in it, how much more can a girl want?
(ooh I have come over all unecessary!)

Cake pass the cakes please.
Book hope you had fun at 'Tool Station' Grin

Night night all.

Chasingsquirrels · 20/10/2017 08:28

I don't think our streetlights go off - but there is only 2 on our street and the one near us isn't that near! My bedroom is at the back so no impact from street lights anyway.

Finished work for a few days yesterday, normal non-working day today then just working Thu & Fri next week when the boys are with their dad. Meeting a friend for lunch.

Grr at your ds1 Willow.
Just opened my ds1's bedroom windows and shut the door - antiperspirant overload!

Lol, is it Lynx? Grin

bookbook · 20/10/2017 09:14

Morning all
Bit bleary eyed here , but probably not as much as Cake
Willow - thats the only thing about computers - some times I want to hurl them out of the window . So stressful, and it is nowhere near as important to me as to you .
Horse - everything sorted. Gave myself a bit to do today birthday tea wise, so have to crack on and get some baking and prep for tonight sorted.
Chasing much better to not have lights shining straight in ! Hope you enjoy your days off .
We have another week before half term,.
Right - nothing getting done while I sit here
Have a good day everyone

Chasingsquirrels · 20/10/2017 09:17

Lol @ Lynx! It's actually Sure. Why he won't use a roll-on I don't know.
Another busy day book.
