The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Sweet, Summer Sobriety!

Mouseface · 13/06/2017 19:20

Hey, I'm Mouse Smile

Welcome to the Battle Bus! We're a group of travelling drinkers of varying levels, those who are teetotal, and those who have tried so many times to stop, those are 'controlled' drinkers, but we NEVER give up and keep coming back for the support we share, and trying to get some kind of control over the Wicked Wine Bitch Witch!

It's not easy, boy, it's so not easy to stop or cut down some days. There are days when even the Bravest Babes fall into the Sidecar. And do you know what? That's okay. Smile

There is NO judgey pants worn on this Bus and you don't have to be anyone other than YOU to join us Smile

So, come and grab a seat, some Opal fruits, (it'll make sense eventually!)) and meet the rest of the Babes. Remember, you're not on your own, ever with us, you'll always have a Babe you can relate to.

Here's the last thread for you to catch up on if you like Smile

And here's where the entire journey began. Smile

It was you who suggested it, Ma. Excellent call!

missdoings · 26/06/2017 18:34

Sorry if it sounded like I'm dissing the thread btw.

SweetLathyrus · 27/06/2017 08:36

Morning All.

Miss, the bus speed varies at different times of the year, or day! I doubt any of us took what you said as 'dissing'. But the thread also tends to speed up or slow down depending on what people are posting - requests for help rarely go long without an answer - part of the answer maybe to post more yourself, get it all out there; is there some specific help you need? Would it just help to post as the minutes pass?

Perhaps the thread is only a small element of what you need?

I have to confess that I didn't make it to the end of day ten. I'm having real trouble with DS at the moment (he's 15, belligerent, emotionally labile, getting into trouble at school, not working etc . . . ) and I stopped focussing on me and reached for habitual comforts. Managed to stop at half a bottle and have poured the rest away, but back to day one.

SweetLathyrus · 27/06/2017 10:46

I shoûld also add, that it ruined my sleep and I feel like shit.

On a brighter note, took SweetDog on a new walking route through the most amazing field of more butterflies than I have ever seen.

SweetLathyrus · 27/06/2017 18:54

Is it just me today?

LuxuryWoman2017 · 27/06/2017 19:00

No, I'm reading through the snot and snuffles!

You did good to pour it away sweet teenagers are such a worry x

SweetLathyrus · 27/06/2017 19:24

Snot and Snuffles sound like they should have a show on CBBC, Luxe Grin.

I'm much better with teens, comes with the job, I s'pose - (babies are boring ), but there is only so much I can take sometimes. I suspect he's building up to coming out, and though I know I'm fine with it, and with my job and friends, he should know too, but it's clearly not as easy as it should be (see, rational calm head today).

LuxuryWoman2017 · 27/06/2017 19:36

Ooh good idea about a show, I could make my fortune in merchandise, snot duvet covers, snuffle pencil cases etc.

Coming out must be a huge thing support or not. Our love lives are kind of private and at that age embarrassing to admit to whatever our leanings.

SweetLathyrus · 27/06/2017 19:50

I'm imagining monster pencil toppers in snot green Grin.

Your right, of course, I hated telling my mother about boyfriends. I'm trying not to make it a deal - But my Easter holiday was to a gay resort with my gay best friend and his partner; one of my academic specialisms is gender and identity, and I know that must be excruciating for a teen!

I hate being back at day one.

SweetLathyrus · 27/06/2017 19:51

Which of your germs monkies are you blaming for the lurgy?

dementedma · 27/06/2017 20:21

I'm here. Knocked off my feet by period cramps. FFS. I'm 53! Enough already

SweetLathyrus · 27/06/2017 21:03

Ma, I have just booked myself on to a dealing with the menopause seminar at work. I'm 46, until two months ago I was 28 days on the dot. Now it's around 36, two days on, but still 28 day cycles of pms (which annoyingly autocorrect to as MPs - there's an irony there somewhere). I'm praying it'll all get a move on and be over quickly.

Weird DS is now cleaning his room with out being asked. Now that I can't cope with !!

LuxuryWoman2017 · 27/06/2017 21:07

I'm 49 and 2 periods a month, no wonder my immune system is down. So tiring, I thought menopause meant the end of periods not 2 for the price of one.

SweetLathyrus · 27/06/2017 21:27

Arh, shit, Lux,, are you anaemic?

LuxuryWoman2017 · 27/06/2017 21:30

Not had bloods lately sweet but don't think so. It's annoying and inconvenient of course and maybe why I keep getting ill though I'm not sure. Makes sense though as they are proper periods rather than spotting and every 14 days is pretty tiring.

Elba84 · 27/06/2017 21:38

I'm here. Drunk though Blush.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 27/06/2017 21:42

Always good to see you Elba drunk, sober whatever x

SweetLathyrus · 27/06/2017 21:44

Elba, what's up sweetie? We 're hereand we love you drunk or sober x

SweetLathyrus · 27/06/2017 21:47

If I get any insights next week, Ma, Lux I will pass them on.

theansweris42 · 27/06/2017 21:47

I'm here. Mad busy with kids.
AF day 2 for the week, going for 5.
Hope you're all okay, sorry you're poorly again lux

BeautyGoesToBenidorm · 27/06/2017 21:48

Evening lovely Babes, it's been a few weeks since I last hopped on the Bus - I was in the midst of yet another relapse and felt so bloody lost.

I found a lovely local AA meeting a couple of weeks ago - in the 15 or so years I've been a problem drinker, I'd never been to AA (the usual 'oh they're the bloody God Squad in disguise' excuse!). I wish I'd done it sooner.

Any Opal Fruits left? Wink

LuxuryWoman2017 · 27/06/2017 21:58

beauty that's a fantastic and positive step, glad for you.
Hey 42 good to see you
.
Right snot and snuffles Need bed so I'll bid you goodnight.

SweetLathyrus · 27/06/2017 21:58

Hi Beauty, we've not met. That's really interesting about AA, I find the same excuses to avoid.

I'm up the wooden hill to Bedfordshire, be kind to yourselves.

Elba84 · 27/06/2017 22:04

Thank you xx and sorry, Too much self pity and over-analysis mainly I think on my part. Plus I want to absolutely rage at someone tonight and I can't...feel pissed off and hard done by (but also very lucky realistically) but also a bit traumatised.

Elba84 · 27/06/2017 22:05

And that made fuckall sense Blush Grin so I give up
