The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Sweet, Summer Sobriety!

Mouseface · 13/06/2017 19:20

Hey, I'm Mouse Smile

Welcome to the Battle Bus! We're a group of travelling drinkers of varying levels, those who are teetotal, and those who have tried so many times to stop, those are 'controlled' drinkers, but we NEVER give up and keep coming back for the support we share, and trying to get some kind of control over the Wicked Wine Bitch Witch!

It's not easy, boy, it's so not easy to stop or cut down some days. There are days when even the Bravest Babes fall into the Sidecar. And do you know what? That's okay. Smile

There is NO judgey pants worn on this Bus and you don't have to be anyone other than YOU to join us Smile

So, come and grab a seat, some Opal fruits, (it'll make sense eventually!)) and meet the rest of the Babes. Remember, you're not on your own, ever with us, you'll always have a Babe you can relate to.

Here's the last thread for you to catch up on if you like Smile

And here's where the entire journey began. Smile

myusernamewhichisthis
I'm so sorry to hear you are struggling at the moment.
It will get better.

Zorra · 19/07/2017 12:43

Adding your interview to the prayer list Mint!

Does anyone else recently AF feel like they're riding the Shame Train? Especially when trying to get to sleep but also in the day, I'm bombarded with images and memories of all the stupid, damaging wasteful things I've done when drunk. It's exhausting :(

dementedma · 19/07/2017 12:50

user don't feel shame. Feel strong and proud that your time with this person is now over and like lux you will move on to better things now you have your freedom. We are all here to support you and blessings to your daughter at this time of remembrance.
mint that sounds so positive - keeping everything crossed for you. I believe the police in your neck of the woods had a busy time of it on the beaches yesterday relieving people of their alcohol.
zorro we have a sidecar of shame attached to the bus but it is soothing and comforting and not a punishment chamber or anything!! Don't dwell on the past, look at the positive things you will do going forward.

I can't believe how differently I feel now I have my new job to look forward to. I have a weird buzzing sensation inside which is either happiness or the bullet vibe I mislaid some time ago....Grin

MintToBee · 19/07/2017 13:03

ma
I got off the bus and there was an ambulance at the bus station dealing with a drunk Ned, two police cars in the High Street dealing with drunkenness and three furgher ambulances. That was in the space of 15 minutes. I'm actually praying for rain for tonight's shift!

MintToBee · 19/07/2017 13:12

Zorra
Yes . Frequently. I call it The Fear.
I just try to push it away by thinking about crap TV or something.
Memory is an odd thing. I only seem to get crap memories, never nice ones. Even a recurring one when I embarrassed myself at 6 years old! Maybe we could kidnap Paul McKenna for the bus.

I have a weird buzzing sensation inside which is either happiness or the bullet vibe I mislaid some time ago....
This is the one and only time I will write LOL. But I did.

Zorra · 19/07/2017 16:36

Thanks Mint and Ma.

I like the idea of a side car that I can bundle the shame into and know that I've recognised it but don't need to carry it on my shoulders all the time. In some ways it's good because it's strengthening my resolve. But.... oh God it's horrible.

Day 14 today. Happy AF Wednesday fellow passengers!

Elba84 · 19/07/2017 23:41

Hi all just checking in quickly.

mint and ma lovely to hear you both sounding so positive.

Minor success tonight in the first AF day in over a week. Even managed to avoid the wine isle on a late night trip to buy milk. Last night was a very different story Blush involving far too much wine and a bit of an accident whilst trying to get to the trip switch in the pitch dark (which considering we had a power cut due to the storms was a fairly pointless mission anyway). Not in control at all currently and it's scaring me.

Anyway, night all, hope all ok

MintToBee · 20/07/2017 14:14

Afternoon my lovelies.
I'm bloody knackered. I forgot how much late shifts suck! But, it does mean I'm not drinking as I can't. Grin

myusernamewhichisthis
When I did Dry January, it took about a week for the sleep patterns to improve.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 20/07/2017 16:32

Mint every cloud...
Hope the work is doing well? I'm so glad for you and hope you are soon back on track.

I agree, about a week for sleep to settle down myusernamewhichisthis

Hope everyone else is Ok? Summer hols nearly here and I'm full of optimism, I keep beaming at strangers and bursting into song randomly.

MintToBee · 20/07/2017 16:49

Lux
I'm trying to prepare for the telephone interview tomorrow morning. I've looked up online at various questions they may ask and am preparing a pad of notes. I hate the strength and weaknesses ones though. Never know how to answer. And I'm not sure if that comes up in the telephone interview. Aaaaaaarrrrrgggghhhhh! Grin

Oh my goodness, you're Snow White Grin

MintToBee · 20/07/2017 16:53

Laughs till the tears run down my legs

Laughs till the tears run down my legs

Damn that's a great line!!!

Honestly, I could walk down the street singing Zipedee Doo Dah while handing out flowers and smiles. If I could get some woodland creatures to join in so much the better Smile

cashmerecardigans · 20/07/2017 19:27

Mint, just de-lurking to suggest answers for your interview.
Strengths - just be honest about what you're good at and try to tie in an example that shows how good you are, so they can understand it in a context.
Weaknesses - go with something you've recognised and worked to improve. I have used something like: I recognised that I used to leave things until the last minute, as I work really well under pressure, but I realised that at times this was impacting on others ability to contribute, as not everyone prefers to work in this way. I took steps to manage my time more effectively through allocating time to tasks ahead of deadline, blocking time out of my diary etc and this has proved highly effective etc etc
Doesn't matter what it is, just use something I've something about. Don't do what someone did once and say well I'm always late Grin.
Best of luck for tomorrow

dementedma · 20/07/2017 19:34

Loving the new happy lux.
elba I replied to your post but is disappeared!

MintToBee · 20/07/2017 23:05

Thank you cashmerecardigans
So I can't say Cillian Murphy is my weakness then? Wink

I've gone with a similar answer to yours. (God bless Glassdoor and The Student Room). I've actually found a list of questions for this particular place online so all notes typed up and spread out over the table.

Elba84
Hopefully things are a little better for you today? And don't worry, I would have done exactly the same with the trip switch!

LilyMcClellan · 21/07/2017 00:13

Lux I always think that greatest strengths tend to have a flip side that is a weakness to watch.

So, for example, if you are really detail-oriented, you need to be aware of keeping your eye on the big picture too. Or if you are a very capable independent worker, you may need to be aware of not being too dismissive of team-mates. That sort of thing.

cashmere had a good suggestion of how to show you're aware of any weaknesses and how to address them.

MintToBee · 21/07/2017 10:13

Had telephone interview. They said it was very strong and would be in contact within 7 days. Fingers crossed.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 21/07/2017 11:11

This sounds very positive mint really hope you get it.

Hope everyone else is OK today?

oh, what a beautiful morning (badly)

dementedma · 21/07/2017 12:05

mint best of luck - everything crossed.

Very busy commute today - rush hour traffic was awful!

Looks like an Aberdeen Angus wiggling it's bum at you.
I love it when the cloud cover hangs low like that.

dementedma · 22/07/2017 08:17

Morning all. Early morning start to drop dd1 at the airport. Plans for the day include paying bills, getting my hair cut, ckeaning the oven and windows. Rock and roll.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 22/07/2017 10:53

Sounds a productive day ma nought wrong with that.

I have a bad headache and my period is here so feel a bit rough but painkillers have been taken and I'm having a bit of a get together tonight, not been able to for years as himself was never keen.
Lots to do to prepare, can't wait to catch up with old friends but must be careful not to drink too much.

dementedma · 22/07/2017 13:13

Period and painkillers here too lux. Be careful tonight and have a great time. Dont let the wine witch spoil it! Just paid £300 to the bloody garage for yet another repair! Its cold and wet and horrible here. Contemplating putting the heating on!!!!!! I hate living in Scotland sometimes. Off to mak a pot of warming soup...

LuxuryWoman2017 · 22/07/2017 13:50

I'll be careful, pissing down here but it won't spoil the evening. I'm so excited!
