I love my music and have been listening to the Foo Fighters "Best of You" this morning. Cant decide if I think its a wallow/progress song!

I'll try anything at this point. Feeling stuck, and a little hopeless things will get any better.

Almost 2 years separated (Sep) and still feel stuck in 2015....Sad

Beutiful South. A little time.

Havent rtft sorry but "I didn't know my own strength" by Whitney got played on repeat a couple of months after I kicked ex out (multiple OWs including during pregnancy). It just reminds me how strong I am. I'm raising my 2.5yo alone and we're both doing great. Working and studying so I'm permanently exhausted but I'm doing it all for my boy. You'll surprise yourself when you're through the other side. You'll wonder how you made it but you will have made it. You've got this op!

Break Your Heart by Barenaked Ladies is wonderfully honest and refreshing but so beautiful.

Pretty much anything from either of Fiona Apple's first two albums.

Bloodymotherfucking Asshole by Martha Wainwright.

peoplepleaser70 · 16/05/2017 22:13

Love this thread. Just spent 2 hours in the Bath youtubing kick ass break up songs whilst exDP is downstairs (I move out on Friday). Jason Derulo - Ridin' Solo !

Liska · 16/05/2017 22:25

Adding another Fleetwood Mac, 'Don't stop thinking about tomorrow ' always gets me up again. Also echo Jagged Little Pill (especially You Oughtta Know: "And when i scratch my nails down someone else's back I hope you feel it"), and I really really really like 'Fight Song' by Rachel Platten. That's a singalong!

Jaaaaaaam · 16/05/2017 23:03

Fiona Apple- Dull Tool. Not sure if it will appeal so posting lyrics here before you listen;

"Dull Tool"

Come on out, come on out
Where'd you go? Where'd you go?
I don't mean to play here

Figure out, figure out
What you know, what you know
Figure out how to say it clear

'Cause you're more likely to get cut with a dull tool
than a sharper one

You, you stuck around,
You stuck around,
You stuck around,
Until you got me
Then, then you dropped me

You, you don't kiss when you kiss
You don't fuck when you fuck
You don't say what you mean
You don’t talk loud enough

No pulse in your impulse, celebration is impossible

You forgot the difference between equanimity and passivity
You forgot you have to try, you have to try, you have to try
You forgot that glorious feeling that you get when you get the truth
So tell that girl you don't love her
And if you do, tell her two times

'Cause you're more likely to get cut with a dull tool
than a sharper one

You, you don't kiss when you kiss
You don't fuck when you fuck
You don't say what you mean
You don’t talk loud enough

No pulse in your impulse, celebration is impossible

And you don't kiss when you kiss
You don't fuck when you fuck
You don't say what you mean
You don’t talk loud enough

No pulse in your impulse, celebration is impossible

You don't kiss when you kiss
You don't fuck when you fuck
You don't say what you mean
You don’t talk loud enough

No pulse in your impulse, celebration is impossible

And you don't kiss when you kiss
You don't fuck when you fuck
You don't say what you mean
You don’t talk loud enough

No pulse in your impulse, celebration is impossible
Celebration is impossible [x3]

"If you don't wanna fuck me baby, baby fuck off" by The Meteors (or Jayne County)

Julia1973 · 17/05/2017 07:27

What fab thread. Thank you. I have had a bit of break up song journey:

Fleetwood Mac- You can go you're own way- Love fleetwood mac and this amazing song has been ruined for me by my break up. Was listening to this in the car a week before we broke up and my husband made some kind of remark that set it all in motion.

One day I'll Fly away- In the throws heartbreak and the bloody song was constantly playing in the run up to Christmas because of the ad.

Someone that I used to know- when the penny began to drop that I was grieving for someone who doesn't exist anymore.

Now: Indie /Metal songs from the 90s-because they remind me of a me before him :)

Julia1973 · 17/05/2017 22:25
