The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Swinging Into Sobriety!

Hello there,

I'm Mouse, one of the Brave Babes travelling far and wide, stopping off here and there to collect lovely folk, just like you, for a natter all about booze and the blues that come with being a drinker of whatever quantity.

We don't wear or sell judgey pants here, although a G-string or two (Oooh Matron!) has been known to sort the fan belt out on the Bus as we've been driving for such a long time now!! Grin

In short, we've regular posters here, lurkers, those who have managed to keep their drinking to 'social' occasions, some who are really struggling on an hourly basis and some who are completely dry!

Whatever your drinking 'status', you're welcome here in the new bigger Battle Bus, (as requested) whilst we head far and wide, listening to one another, as we face each day that comes our way, whether it be good, bad or downright ugly, we really have seen it all and don't mind one bit. Lurk or chat, it's up to you but one thing you will always find, is a warm welcome, Opal Fruit wrappers (Looks at Ma bosom push up! ) and of course, in complete confidentiality. Smile

So, if you'd like to look what happened on the last thread (a bit like catch up TV) you can look at this link which will take you there - JUST HERE

And, if you would like to see where we started driving this wonderful Bus, over seven years ago, you can have a look at this very honest thread - RIGHT HERE

Hope to see you soon,

Mouse xx

I did drink last night, but not as much as usual. Was celebrating a breakthrough on the home front. Still woke up feeling grim though.
Will be in the sidecar today as well. Going out with friends and although they drink it's never very much. Usually I plough on with my drinking regardless but today I will try and be mindful, pay attention to how much everyone else is drinking and add it lots of water.
Then from tomorrow I will be firmly back on the bus.

Well done better on staying af, very strong. A whole week is my next af mini goal

Todayisanewday75 · 22/04/2017 08:17

Totally sober being my af major goal, but I'm not sure I can entirely get my head round that yet.

Rubyredlips · 22/04/2017 09:01

Better sounds like you had a major achievement there. I have done the looking in the mirror thing and it is very interesting to say the least Grin

Today great that you're mindful of what you're drinking. Hope you have a good time with your friends

I'm 36 days AF and amazed at myself, I'm less anxious, can deal with stress in a better way and generally calmer which is bizarre because I drank to get rid of the anxiety and stress. Turns out it was making me more stressed and anxious. Yes I know that's obvious cos I've read about it but I I didn't/couldn't believe it

beachestoexplore · 22/04/2017 12:21

Weirdly I am on day 36 today Ruby. I am aiming for the 100 day challenge and I agree I am far less jittery and anxious at this stage, sleep like a dream and can cope with things better. That is not to say the wine witch has disappeared - last night she was on my shoulder suggesting a reward was due Confused. It is easier to resist with the run of af and I am so glad this morning.

Excuse the very self absorbed post, I do read regularly and admire/relate and take support from you all Flowers. KOKO babes Smile

I'm out tonight at a party I don't want to go to. I'm sure I'll get grief as normal from people as I don't drive so it's a waste of me not drinking. Confused

Here's the cheshire cat to cheer the spirits.

Mint my stance has been that i am trying to lose weight and the easiest thi g i can do right now is knock the boize on the head and i will sort the food intake out later but in tge meantime will be using 60o calories less per day ......

Flowerydems · 22/04/2017 18:38

Just popping in to say good luck Elba you're a role model for how much we could push ourselves to do despite setbacks.

Sidecar for me again but I'm not even sorry after 2 hours of soft play with the boys and then a 5th birthday party for another 2 hours. Feel shit about it but not shocked. Why can't other parents care enough to stop their kids going hallyracket when I'm trying so hard to keep mine in check, they see these other kids and think I'm awful

dementedma · 22/04/2017 18:52

Good luck tomorrow Elba . A whole bus load of babes will be cheering you on.

LuxuryWoman2017 · 22/04/2017 18:57

Just calling in to say good luck Elba

What an experience it will be!

Hope everyone else is OK tonight.

Margie32 · 22/04/2017 21:14

Hi all,

Just popping up from out of Lurkerville to say hello to babes old (in time on bus, I mean!) and new, but primarily to say a huge good luck to my old mate Elba tomorrow. You are amazing, you will be brilliant, I am in awe. Couldn't be prouder than if you were one of my DSs and I was standing on the finish line of the egg and spoon race. I will be with you all the way, cheering you on, even though physically I am a long way away. You go girl, you are ready and in the hard moments remember that you have an entire bus of brilliant women willing you on.

Elba84 · 22/04/2017 21:34

Wow thank you all so much, I've had so much support on here over the last 18 months and it's safe to say that this time last year I would not be contemplating actually running a marathon (aside from the fateful night I got drunk and decided to ballot for the bloody thing Hmm).

I've got so much weird nervous energy and emotion I actually can't wait to just get to the start. Walked over Tower Bridge today (20k point on the course) with a friend and started welling up Blush.

It's been a weird 'journey' training for this thing, and a bit all consuming, so apologies for not being great at keeping up and being a bit (a lot) self obsessed. I have a feeling tomorrow will be a mix of the best and worst thing I've ever done. Definitely will not be breaking any records, but I hope to report back in tomorrow night with a nice shiny medal, and I will of course be thinking of all the babes as I hobble round.

Off to try and sleep now- 5am start tomorrow! Lots of love and thanks again for the lovely posts xxxx

CuileanDubh · 22/04/2017 22:20

Sneaked into the loo with my phone to wish you love and good luck for the morn my friend, will be thinking of you! So proud of you, may it be everything you want it to be and more ((((((((((runelbarunbosie))))))))) xxx

Rubyredlips · 22/04/2017 23:18

Good luck Elba. I said earlier that I was on day 36 but I'm actually on day 43 BlushGrin. Seem to have lost a week and can't even blame it on booze!

MintToBee · 23/04/2017 06:58

Morning all. Terrible night sleep. My throat feels like I've swallowed glass and thanks to a temperature I've probably lost a stone. Karma for not going to the party last night!

I'll tune in later to the marathon to send you strength and wave my pom poms Elba

theansweris42 · 23/04/2017 08:02

All good here. Am really on track with my diet and stopped drinking alcohol (more as a means of losing weight than anything else) and lost 6.5lbs in the last fortnight. Am becoming an Instagram bore but it helps keep me on track. Have also tried a synrgy class where I did press ups and still have bruises, am trying something called body attack tomorrow evening. Working way too much, need to say ‘no’ more. Very little co codamols taken, and only for back pain and even then, I’m sometimes opting for deep heat instead. Have a very early shift tomorrow (7am blee!) so up at 5.30 (double blee). First evening I’ve had to myself in a while so just watching crap telly.

MintToBee · 23/04/2017 20:07

Checking in from my sick bed to shout Congratulations and well done you, you amazing lady. 😁⭐🏅👏😁
