The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Swinging Into Sobriety!

Hello there,

I'm Mouse, one of the Brave Babes travelling far and wide, stopping off here and there to collect lovely folk, just like you, for a natter all about booze and the blues that come with being a drinker of whatever quantity.

We don't wear or sell judgey pants here, although a G-string or two (Oooh Matron!) has been known to sort the fan belt out on the Bus as we've been driving for such a long time now!! Grin

In short, we've regular posters here, lurkers, those who have managed to keep their drinking to 'social' occasions, some who are really struggling on an hourly basis and some who are completely dry!

Whatever your drinking 'status', you're welcome here in the new bigger Battle Bus, (as requested) whilst we head far and wide, listening to one another, as we face each day that comes our way, whether it be good, bad or downright ugly, we really have seen it all and don't mind one bit. Lurk or chat, it's up to you but one thing you will always find, is a warm welcome, Opal Fruit wrappers (Looks at Ma bosom push up! ) and of course, in complete confidentiality. Smile

So, if you'd like to look what happened on the last thread (a bit like catch up TV) you can look at this link which will take you there - JUST HERE

And, if you would like to see where we started driving this wonderful Bus, over seven years ago, you can have a look at this very honest thread - RIGHT HERE

Hope to see you soon,

Mouse xx

Certainly makes me smile ma it really is a lovely pic Smile

Flowerydems · 19/05/2017 10:53

Ma what about a trip to Glasgow or Edinburgh, scotrail are doing really cheap train deals at the moment and midweek would be cheap for the hotel. I know what you mean though, we're not going away again this year but like others have said what about him getting a job, glass collectors etc are taken on at that age. I've worked every summer since I was 10 and to be honest despite never going on holiday I've never felt down about it. I feel like my kids feel it but they're just as happy with a £5 paddling pool and I think we feel it more than them. We're rooked with the house move so I do understand

Lux hope you feel better soon, that's not a great start to the summer

Mint I managed 2 days then tanked 2 bottles on Wednesday, back to work at the end of the month though so that's 3 nights I can't drink. Hopefully it'll work out ok. If you need a hand looking over cvs I'm really good at that kind of thing so can always help

Ma that's a gorgeous pic

I'm back in the sidecar but feeling positive, I think, I've been cleaning with bleach so may just be high. Dd rolled over yesterday and the boys are being hard work so I kind of feel a bit overwhelmed again

dementedma · 19/05/2017 11:24

flowery thats a good idea.
We have done Edinburgh to death as its on the doorstep but the Science museum in Glasgow might be worth a shout.

Flowerydems · 19/05/2017 12:31

Ma the transport museum is meant to be really good too. It was like £5 from Aberdeen to Glasgow so if you're closer bet it's pittance

venusandmars · 19/05/2017 14:58

ma brilliant photo - you must be so proud of her Smile

We had a great day as tourists in Glasgow (despite working there twice a week!) We went on the opentop hop on / hop off bus and spent ages at People's Palace and Transport Museum. And the science museum is fab. Eating in Glasgow is also much cheaper than Edinburgh.

stilllearnin · 19/05/2017 15:45

Hello. I am just checking in. Feeling like I am coping and then very low. I am completely shattered too. Just wanted to say Hi really.

stilllearnin · 19/05/2017 15:47

Oh I wrote a post on the train yesterday but it was lost. I think I was saying thanks to made and that Camhs are involved with dd.

thingscanonlygetbetterrrr · 19/05/2017 15:48

We should all be tourists in our own town/city once in a while. There is so much on our doorsteps we don't even see sometimes! Super pic of your daughter. How are we all feeling going into the weekend? I was AF yesterday so in total 3 days this week. Tonight? Not sure how I feel but I do think if I do drink I do feel it will be less than normal for a Friday. I've lost 5lbs in the last week by drinking less and eating smaller portions of food I enjoy. That's given me a fair bit of motivation if nothing else does.

dementedma · 19/05/2017 19:30

eBay experts please help. I just got an email saying a dress I had bid on was gone. For only 50p more than I bid. What am I doing wrong. I didn't get anything to say I had been outbid.

Fairenuff · 19/05/2017 21:08

I think they only tell you if you are the highest bidder ma. Bit of a bugger to miss out for the sake of 50p but that's the nature of the auction.

Elba84 · 20/05/2017 01:55

Drunk and miserable

stilllearnin · 20/05/2017 08:06

elba self care today. What you going to do?

I was AF til 10pm and having a great night. Blew it then, which also blows this morning's run. Got to bed at 2am. I did decide though that this is a tough week.

Todayisanewday75 · 20/05/2017 08:10

elba couldn't read and not post. Hope you are feeling better this morning. As my name says, today is a new day! Make sure you drink lots of water and look after yourself today.

I do find that the more I think about my drinking the less I enjoy it even when actually drinking, it's like it has lost it's magic. But I guess that is just another thing to add the the long long list of reasons not to drink.

dementedma · 20/05/2017 08:57

You ok Elba.?

thingscanonlygetbetterrrr · 20/05/2017 11:28

Hope you are ok Elba. I managed to delay first drink until about 8pm and did leave half a glass at the end of the night but what I drank I between wasn't much less ham a normal Friday. At least today I have plans out of the house all afternoon so I won't have the temptation of Saturday afternoon cracking a bottle open in the sunshine.

Mouseface · 20/05/2017 16:51

Afternoon, tis me, Mouse

Ma - your DD2 is AWESOME!!!!! What a selfless thing to do! I love that. Star

Sorry to see some Babes struggling, and I'm sorry that I've not been here much. I'm doing a 5K RFL on June 4th on crutches so I've been training for that. Also, I have been volunteering at our local hospital and loving it! I have also been asked to help the school where Nemo goes to sit with children and listen to them read and read to them!

My body still hates me and I'm in bed right now trying to recover in time to go out for dinner later with a friend and his boys. They (my DH and Nemo) are all out at a farm so I thought I'd pop in for a cheeky Opal Fruit and check Barry has enough water in his tank. Grin

I'm so sorry not to name check but now I've got a new laptop/note book thingy, I should be here more as it's easier to type when my fibro flares up.

I'm also having my eyebrows semi tattooed on. They are super sparse!! I got a new tattoo in recognition of mental health awareness week last week, I'll put a picture up. Smile The semi-colon means my story isn't over, and the half butterfly wings help to propel me along on my journey to recovery. Smile

My meds are helping my BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) and I'm about to go into psychology therapy, where I plan to try and unravel all of the sh1t that I've kept locked away for far too long now......... It's hard to even know where to begin and there may be days when I need to just get on the Bus and snuggle up at the back if that's okay?

You guys are ace. I have got to start posting more as it's like getting things off my chest, and keeping me sober by doing so Smile

Anywho, I better get my backside into gear as it takes my body ages to work these days! Sad

I hope you all have a safe evening if you're drinking and going out.

Lots of love,

Mouse xxx

ma what a beezer of a picture for your family album!! And btw. I rest my case. Does that lass look like she has a failure for a mam? No. No. And no again. Look again at that picture. That beautiful, confident, amazing young woman had you to set her on her path. Feel the pride ma. You did that. Flowers

elf (((((((((((( Iloveaproperkumbayamomentbosie)))))))))))))))))))))

made have you had a good day pet? I am getting more reps in, and that's another kg off this week. I feel so much better, I know I have a long way and a few stone to go but I am on the path. Thank you, xx

dementedma · 20/05/2017 17:17

thank you mouse and dubh and apologies to all for my selfish whinging last week. I need to learn to be grateful for what I have instead of bitching about what I don't have.DD2 messaged to say her BF gave a football to some young men in the area. They wanted to play football on the beach but couldn't afford a ball. She said they were so happy. I need a good first world problem slap from Barrie!

dementedma · 20/05/2017 19:49

dubh how are you losing weight? share your secrets please!

MintToBee · 20/05/2017 20:06

I love the tattoo. It's also very similar to an Om 🕉️ I have one around my navel.

You must be so proud of your daughter. And I hope you are proud of yourself for raising such a lovely daughter.

MintToBee · 20/05/2017 20:11

Name change fail. Opps.
Ah well.Blush

CuileanDubh · 20/05/2017 20:25

ma I wish I could take the credit for the weight loss. I've been trying to do 15,000 steps a day, drinking water/fresh ginger and lemon water instead of tea and coffee and having a more fish/veg based diet with the odd bit of steak as a treat.

I suspect the antimalarials have a bigger hand in it though. I have no appetite. And my consultant doesn't want me to have any alcohol for a bit. (I think that might have a lot to do with it).

Although...I had two packets of cheese and onion pom bears this afternoon. Someone was eating them on the bus home from work today. The smell drove me scranny, so I nipped into Poundland to buy a big bag of the little teddy shaped bandits.

Speed of light teddycide. It was blissful.

mouse your tattoo is beautiful. But nae quite as beautiful as you are, lovely to see you quine, koko moosie, x

dementedma · 20/05/2017 20:36

15000 steps a day?????
I'd be lucky to do 1,500.
Maybe if I stopped pouring booze down my neck and sitting on my arse, I might lose some weight!
Mint thank you.
