New thread, not very imaginative title sorry! I can't remember how to link - having a blank moment.

Juan
I don't have an actual morning school run to do it's just the stress of getting teen out of bed and ready and out the door to go get his lift 😤 while making sure ds2 is ready, guinea pigs are fed etc etc. I have to make time to go to botton of stairs every 5 minutes to bellow like a bull up to teen.
it's like kids forget every night that they have to get up for school in the morning!!

When I win the lottery I am employing someone to do it for me😀

TheConstantCakeEater · 17/04/2017 17:25

Ah all this gardening talk! We have a little potted magnolia that flowers white. Also been and gone now.

Thinking of you Juan can't believe it's been 7 weeks, feels like no time at all since that first thread was started Sad

Thanks for the heads up on Selena, I'm sure she's got enough on her plate without updating in lots of places.

I have to walk to school in the morning with a 2yo, 4yo and 10yo on bike plus 2 book bags, 2 PE kits and 2 lunch boxes. Thankfully I will load up the double buggy like the workhorse it is so I don't have to carry any of it!

JuanPotatoTwo · 17/04/2017 17:38

book no it doesn't sound harsh at all, it's no more than the truth. It's a lilac lilac, and it does smell lovely.

Squirrels I forgot we have orange blossom in the front, and it smells wonderful. What makes yours Mexican (excited in case I too have Mexican orange blossom - sounds much more exotic!) daisy we haven't had any rain today.

Willow, I really don't envy you that! I do remember the days when I would stand at the bottom of the stairs shouting "I'm leaving in 10/5/2 minutes". One time I told dd that if she wasn't ready I was leaving without her - and I did. Only made more work for myself though because once I'd dropped her brothers off, I had to go back and pick her up! And Cake - the sheer quantity of stuff you need to remember is incredible. Now I'm really really glad the school run days are over!

Juan - I didn't want to say it really.
I had a big gap between my DDs - nearly 8 years, so was able to cope mostly. The worst was waking the baby when we had had a bad night, to get up to take DD1 to school.

DramaAlpaca · 17/04/2017 17:53

I've a purple magnolia that's in full flower at the moment, it's beautiful, and the cherry tree that was planted in memory of my grandmother is in full bloom too.

I'm another who's very glad the school run days are over, having had three bed huggers, who definitely take after me. I appear to have bred a family of night owls, whereas DH is an early bird.

Seven weeks Juan. Sunday nights and Mondays are very poignant for you, aren't they? Sad I have the Monte Carlo tennis on in the background & it made me think of you. Hope you are doing OK today.

JuanPotatoTwo · 17/04/2017 17:54

book I think the very fact that you are on here every day, at least once, mostly more, offering me support and advice, entitles you to say what you like! I don't want to end up bitter and miserable and consumed by my sadness, so please always (and all of you) tell it like it is.

Having said I don't want to end up bitter, it breaks my heart reading some of the threads on here, and hearing about the awful men that are out there, and the dreadful things some poor women put up with. It makes me really question the fairness of life.

JuanPotatoTwo · 17/04/2017 17:57

Hi Drama, yes seven weeks already, and yes I hate Sundays and Mondays now. I've also avoided watching Monte Carlo as we were there the last three years (me and a combination of the dc) but this year just Mark and I were going to go.

Your purple magnolia sounds beautiful. How's Finn today? Bertie is walking now I'm told!

I have bred night owls too, well particularly my teen, I dont go to bed till at least midnight so I suppose he has inherited my genes (but he is still bloody annoying in the mornings Grin )

Juan I would leave my teen too or make him walk but I know he would take the shortest route which is over a main A road, over the longer safer route so I cant. I would have to take him by car if he misses his lift so easier to shout!

All these trees sound lovely, dont have trees in my garden its too small but have all the bulbs coming out in stages and dozens of grape hyacynths which the butterflies seem to love. I really need to get into it and weed but I like to wait until the bulbs are out so I dont chop them all down with the hoe, no matter how careful I am I always do it.

KBO ladies I know its hard but you are amazing, your oh's will be so proud of you.

bookbook · 17/04/2017 18:13

thank you Juan - that is kind of you.
I try to make sure you know there is someone out there who holds you in their thoughts x
I know what you mean about the threads about DP's - it all seems to be going backwards. ( Though DD1 picked a good 'un- he does all the washing, housework etc while having a rather high powered job- he says looking after DGS on top of her job is more than enough )

DramaAlpaca · 17/04/2017 18:22

Yes, I can imagine you'd avoid watching Monte Carlo Sad

Finn is fine thank you, snuggled up next to me as usual while I MN for a bit. It's actually quite ridiculous how much I love that dog, I've always thought of myself as a cat person Confused.

Please keep us updated on the adorable bundle of cuteness that is Bertie!

Chasingsquirrels · 17/04/2017 19:55

I've got a houseful tonight, ds2 wanted a friend over so I suggested to ds1 he ask his friend as well, who is one of my best friends sons - so she came in for a couple of hours when she dropped him. I haven't seen much of her over the last few months (well anyone really) nor since John died so it was good to catch up. Have just fed them all, just cajun chicken on French bread with mayo and crudités - ds2 cut up the chicken earlier and ds1 coated it and ds2 & friend just fried it all, so that was easy. It's now nerf wars and PS in the playroom do I think I'll find something to watch on TV.

Chasingsquirrels · 17/04/2017 19:57

I also feel like that about some of the threads sometimes, there are some totally crap arsewipe people out there - why couldn't it happen to them. But I don't think you can go there.

TheConstantCakeEater · 17/04/2017 20:21

There are some horrible people but there's a thread in chat about random kindness which restores faith x

Chasingsquirrels · 17/04/2017 20:40

Yes that's a lovely thread

bookbook · 17/04/2017 22:35

Sat down with a cocoa
Juan - hope you get some rest tonight -
Chasing - no falling asleep on the sofa....
Thoughts and prayers xx

Chasingsquirrels · 17/04/2017 22:37

Yes book! Actually I do feel sleepy, probably having been up till gone midnight with the boys yesterday - bit I've got 4 lads in the playroom and I need to make sure at least the youngest 2 are in bed before I am.

magimedi · 17/04/2017 22:46

Coming in late - Orange blossom/Mexican Orange blossom is, I suspect, Choysia Ternata.

I've just looked at the google images & can't sort out the right one to post for you lot.

I spent my working life in the horticultural industry & woe betide me if I did not use the proper nomenclature (Latin names) for the plants! There are so many everyday names for plants & is so easy to get into a real muddle.

With love from Muddles to ElPesky.

Can't believe it's 7 weeks - my love to you as ever..............

(((xxx)))

Chasingsquirrels · 17/04/2017 22:49

Yes Choysia, I couldn't spell it! Don't know which variety but it is COVERED in blossom. It is every year actually, but it's very early this year - usually if is May half term and we are away and miss it.

magimedi · 17/04/2017 22:59

Mine is also in full bloom & also v early as is much else in the garden.

It has been an amazing & v early Spring this year.

bookbook · 17/04/2017 23:04

It rained here yesterday, at long last - it was so dry.
Yes, and an early spring - I have flowers on my strawberries. The seasons are getting a bit weird. Such a mild winter here- the first for us without any real snow.

magimedi · 17/04/2017 23:16

You must be much further North than me, book - I am on the South coast & am having to adapt my garden to desert conditions.

I do long for some rain!

(And will then moan like anything if it rains for more then a couple of days.)

bookbook · 17/04/2017 23:17

Yorkshire magi - we normally get a reasonable amount of snow in February- none this year at all.

magimedi · 17/04/2017 23:26

Am so sad to hear that, book - I had imagined a nice meet up in a coffee shop close to both of us.

I envy you the winters - must get rid of so many garden pests.

I don't think we have had a proper frost for the last two winters - but, apart from the garden, I do love the climate here.

(Sorry for the hijack, Juan, wouldn't Mark love the way THE MN has bought strangers together?)

daisychain01 · 18/04/2017 05:44

I'm out West and we get the benefit of about 2-3 mins of extra light at the end of the day. Handy in the winter. Sometimes I am talking to my mum who lives in west London and she'll say it's dark here, when I can still see outside.

And sounds like my magnolia must be quite backward then as it's at it's peak when everyone's has already flowered. Weirdly my lilac lilac hasn't got even a sign of flowering. I wonder if they sometimes skip a year...

Lots of love to you Juan and Squirrels, stay well xx

UnbornMortificado · 18/04/2017 08:19

Chasing I hope the company helped distract you a bit.

Juan I can't believe it's been 7 weeks.
