There's quite a lot of low sex drives around this forum at the moment, thought maybe we could pool ideas. Can anyone recommend any fiction or films that get them in the mood?
I'll start - has anyone seen any Russ Meyer films from the 60s? Hilarious, bonkers and really quite rude, me and my dh love 'em! Have a look on Ebay.

The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by A N Roquelaire (Anne Rice, author of Interview with the Vampire). It's a three book series, very sensuous.

Ulysees · 18/02/2007 17:20

91/2 weeks is my fave.

NotQuiteCockney · 18/02/2007 17:21

Anne Rice has written another porno too, don't remember the name of it, though. Her stuff is pretty BDSM-like, imo.

I think the Black Lace series, or the wide range of books by 'Anonymous' in any bookstore can all be good textual porn.

There's a lot of free text porn online. ASSTR is a good repository of free porn, I don't think it has any adverts. And it has porn of all sorts.

Bucketsofdynomite · 18/02/2007 17:23

Oh yes, I read Sleeping Beauty, absolute tripe (esp compared to other Anne Rice) but very effective iyswim.

NotQuiteCockney · 18/02/2007 17:25

Yeah, I think her stuff seems like it was written in her sleep or something. But I'm not a fan of her generally.

Oh, Alasdair Grey has written a few books that are literature, but also porny. Similar themes to Anne Rice, but about a bazillion times better written - 1982, Janine is one, and the other has a title with something about Leather in it.

Catbabymummy · 18/02/2007 17:28

I'm a big Anne Rice fan, but the Beauty trilogy is somewhat ludicrous, but does make me somewhat horny [bluish]. Some of her stuff is better than others.

madamez · 18/02/2007 21:05

Those of you who like Anne Rice might enjoy the Larell K Hamilton books which have supernatural themese and some of which are seriously dirty. The Anita Blake series is great fun but doesn't start getting properly filthy till about book 8 - and book 12 is just non-stop werewolf and vampire orgies. Ludicrous as it may sound, it has put a smile on my face a few times.
As to the Black Lace, etc, my advice is to read the blurb on the back and dip into a few pages here and there (so to speak) as there are loads of different BL authors and they vary a lot in terms of style and subject. Chimera books are good if you find all the satuff that's aimed at laydeez a bit too soft-focus and would prefer a bit of spanking.
Also, there are magazines. For WOmen has gone under, Scarlet I find far far too consumerist (sort of who-needs-orgasms-when-you-can-buy-shoes) but it does contain a lot of erotic fiction, some of which might appeal. FOrum and Desire both contain a lot of reader's-experiences writing, which can be very horny - as those two mags are aimed at men, women and couples they might be a bit too meaty for the soft-focus taste, but then again, might broaden people's horizons as well.

I'm surprised the slash fans among us haven't come on to suggest their faves ...

Catbabymummy · 19/02/2007 13:35

Well I didn't want people to now that I sometimes look for slash fan fiction... oops

LaDiDaDi · 19/02/2007 13:56

Submission by Mathe Blau, it is what it says it is so the protagonist has a very submissive role, probably no to everyone's taste.

The Sexual Life of Catherine M by Catherine Millet and the Butcher, the Baker and the Candlestick maker by Suzanne Portroy are ok but I found that they read more like lists of "cocks I have known" than anything particularly erotic.

lazyanna · 19/02/2007 15:39

I dread to think what Slash is

BefnalBub · 19/02/2007 15:43

what about nancy friday my secret garden / men in love?

NotQuiteCockney · 19/02/2007 16:46

Slash doesn't, afaik, involve actual slashing. The origin of the term is a bit silly (the original slash was all about Kirk and Spock from Star Trek getting together. It was called Kirk/Spock. Hence, the slash).

But slash is made up dirty stories about characters from fiction, tv or movies. Go on, google for 'slash' and whatever your favourite (ideally geeky) thing is, and you'll find it. There's loads of Buffy slash, Harry Potter slash, Hollyoaks slash, Red Dwarf slash, whatever.

HappyDaddy · 19/02/2007 16:49

I love how the weirdest stuff comes up on this site. It's very educational.

bran · 19/02/2007 17:00

Aishling Morgan does a series of books which are a bit like Georgette Heyer (which I loved as a young teenager, so romantic [sigh]) with added kinky sex, The Rake, Purity, Velvet Skin. Some of his other books sound a bit odd, so probably best to read the blurb first. I can't bear books that don't have a story as well (not that I'm particularly widely read in this area ).

lazyanna · 19/02/2007 17:08

And why on EARTH would anyone want to, lol

NotQuiteCockney · 19/02/2007 17:15

I think the UK law has changed, and you can now get actual hardcore (as in, people actually having sex, and you can tell for sure) videos in this country now, so I'd expect still photos of erections to be legal too - probably only available in licensed sex shops, though?

I did try to google, but couldn't find a relevant page ...

HappyDaddy · 19/02/2007 17:16

Now? You've been able to get hardcore videos legally for years.

Apparently.

NotQuiteCockney · 19/02/2007 17:18

Yes, sorry, I meant, things had changed in the last 5? 10? years?

I really don't spend anywhere near as much time in porno shops as you'd expect, given my reputation on here.
