Struggling a bit tonight. Went out on a date and drank a bottle of wine...and I feel invincible right now. I know I'll feel like shit tomorrow, but how do you find other non- alcoholic ways to get that awesome feeling?

chocoholic89 · 09/12/2016 07:13

Aww. Hope u feel ok this morn, it's finding the balance, I can't find it tho, I'm fine not drinking but when I do I can't stop. That's my problem Xmas Sad

theansweris42 · 09/12/2016 09:16

Checking in babes.
Feeling similar to margie and gast, had two big glasses last night (amazing restraint Xmas Grin), makes me feel great.
Woke early hours as usual when drinking but actually slept some more so semi "got away with it" this time.
I have 2 DS as well and I only drink now and then in front of them (pretending to be normal) but the mornings with the lack of sleep and the headache, I'm not at best. And they deserve that.
But I drink to take the edge off life events/crap relationships/stressful job & poss redundancy...but drinking won't change any of it.
And as margie said, I love drinking and although doing miles more AF days last few weeks I can't imagine not drinking.
But babes we are here, we reflect, we try and we haven't got our heads in the sand.
We'll not all the time anyway Xmas Wink
Hope all are okay Brew

Hi all, hope I'm in the right place.

Been reflecting on my drinking. I don't drink a huge amount - max half a bottle (unless I'm on a night out) but I've been drinking that every night.

I think I do have a bit of a problem as I get quite panicky at the thought of not having a drink. I can stop at one though.

I've had 4 alcohol free evenings in a row now. I miss my wine! Also I've been sleeping worse - weird! Quite vivid dreams.

Just wondering if I should have a glass tonight since it's Friday. I'm a real creature of habit so I'm hoping I can get into a new habit of no wine during the week and just have a drink at weekends. Worried though that it'll creep back up...

I've ordered Allan Carr's Easy way to give up alcohol although I'm not sure I want to give up forever!!! Looking forward to that Bucks Fizz on Christmas morning....

Anyone got any words of wisdom? Thanks. 😘

chocoholic89 · 09/12/2016 14:35

Welcome rosie, I no wise words really, this is a good support thread tho and no jugement as I found on some threads..Well done on realising you have a pattern of drinking. I did 5/6 weeks on no booze at the weekend I'm af through the week or when I get down I hit the bottle. But iv now fell into the habit of drinking at the weekend. But I must say I have been more in control and nothing bad dare a say it has happened. Which in the past it has when I drink unreasonable.. I'm rabbiting!

chocoholic89 · 09/12/2016 14:50

chocoholic89 · 09/12/2016 20:30

Did they not reconise your dog?

dementedma · 09/12/2016 20:39

If you have just posted it on here, the only way it would be on FB is if someone had seen it on the thread and posted it on Their FB page. I don't know why anyone would. Lots of dogs look the same to be honest. Just say it isn't yours and is one which looks similar.

Ooh I hope everything is ok? Am I getting this right, someone u know has seen the photo and knows it's you! So they can read your past post ect? Is this why yu are worried x

Elba84 · 09/12/2016 22:00

wry not sure how it works but I have a feeling you can do some kind of search for photos with an app of some sort, but no idea if it would work for a site like this. But surely it would be a random thing for someone to search for a pic of your dog on the off chance?! Sorry, I don't know for sure, and don't want to make you more worried... anyone who knows more than me feel free to correct me! Hope you are ok my lovely. Xxx

daisy yes, we do share a birthday then! Though I would not say I am particularly fresh faced... Hope you managed to have a nice day xxx

spanna so lovely to have you back!! Sorry that DD1 is still struggling though (and Kevin doesn't sound like a lot of fun either!). Teenage years are so bloody hard (for parents as well as the teens). Thank you for your lovely post...I think the 'firsts' and big events are what still catch me out even now. You are such an inspiration, I think a lot of us (well, me anyway, sorry if I'm projecting/generalising...) know that life would be so so much better af, but it doesn't 'click' somehow and we go round and round in circles. It helps so much to have people around that just 'get it'. Xxx

gast and rosie welcome and well done for posting! just say whatever you need to, there's no judgement here.

I'm unexpectedly on my own in a spa hotel and loving it! It's an annual thing (spa and Christmas market) for me and a friend, and we were both due to get here this evening but she's had a minor crisis and will now be setting off very early tomorrow morning to get here. She's so apologetic, but I'm laughing with a posh double room to myself for the night! 9 hours of exams over weds/yesterday (and it's a bloody stupid idea to stay with friends with small babies for a two day exam...), then a 200 mile drive today so feel I've earned it! I am drinking though Blush, and drinking far too much in general at the moment.

This person doesnt sound like a very nice person for you to have in your life anyway.
If your worried he going to say to people about what you have posted explain to those close people that you thought you drank to much and joined a forum looking for advice.

Don't let him blackmail you. Xmas Angry

dementedma · 10/12/2016 09:06

wry if he knows what kind of person you are now he will have learned you are clever, warm, witty and compassionate and much loved on this bus! Is this the ex from a while back? Why is he still stalking you?
If it's a new guy and his behaviour is creeping you out, then get rid fast. You don't need any more shitty people in your life! Please keep updating and we can meet in Anstruther if you want????

Fairenuff · 10/12/2016 14:36

Oh bugger Wry I'm so sorry. Come back with a name change if you can x
