Has anyone's DH ever taken Viagra?

quickchangetoo · 12/12/2006 12:47

I am regular Mumsnet, and long term poster.
Dh has been having some 'issues' for a while now and I have mentioned that we might think about getting some Viagra. I think he would be too embarrassed to go to a GP so might possibly order of the Internet. Has anyone done this? what are the risks and did it help?
Thanks in advance.

Yes. Do you want some

Has he any heart problems as this is what doctor would check? Raised bp etc.

We didn't really need them but tried them, for errm fun! DH can get hold of them (cough) and sometime gets them for his friends who have erectile problems

MerryMellowmas · 12/12/2006 12:51

probably should have done a name change

GlennCloseAsCruellaDeVille · 12/12/2006 12:53

much better idea to go to the gp i think

don't know anything about it but it's not something i would want to meddle with (my health) without gp advice initially at any rate

MerryMellowmas · 12/12/2006 12:54

Yes very true.

It can be dangerous as they raise BP.

Lots of men go to gp for them now. Although I can imagine it would be embarrasing

GlennCloseAsCruellaDeVille · 12/12/2006 12:56

also bp is a hidden killer he may not be aware he already has problems, erectile dysfunction could be a symptom of something else and he should have his heart checked, weight etc

GlennCloseAsCruellaDeVille · 12/12/2006 12:57

it's a bit like asking about anti depressants..it is quite individual

foxinsocks · 12/12/2006 12:57

did they work then mellow ?

MerryMellowmas · 12/12/2006 12:59

..... never again

I took one too. v weird, apparently, they can be good for fertility or something

quickchangetoo · 12/12/2006 13:03

Nope DH is not overweight nor does he have any problems with BP. Has been an issue on and off for a while now.

Goodness me yes I almost gave our dd's Pfizer as a surname instead of DHs

Go to a GP - they are v easy to get FREE and you don't need to worry about your health or the quality of what you are buying!

LoveMyGirls · 12/12/2006 13:05

would you go with him to his gp, its a very common complaint and he should get to the root of the problem really. viagra works and is a short term solution, if hes healthy enough to take it. if it were my dp id want the "issue" sorted properly.

foxinsocks · 12/12/2006 13:05

I wonder how often they are prescribed. Could you go to the doctor with him quickchange? Or perhaps go in first, tell the doctor what the problem is and then have her/him do the BP and whatever other checks they do? (is it diabetes? can't remember)

My other concern with getting drugs like this over the internet would be whether they had been manufactured properly (or watered down or the opposite or had something else in them that wasn't supposed to be there).

Viagra can be along term solution LMG

It is very effective in a very high number of cases (something like 70-90%)

morningpaper · 12/12/2006 13:07

iCod no it just enables normal operation

MerryMellowmas · 12/12/2006 13:07

It just felt a bit hot tbh and my ears were ringing a bit too, but it was fine.

The reason dh has them is a quite a few of his friend enter body building competitions - hence they use steriods and some of them have no control over downstairs any more.

Email me on v dot bryant94 at bt internet dot com if you want to talk more about it

morningpaper · 12/12/2006 13:08

Gosh Mellowma's WHY do they do that?

It shrivels your bollocks

quickchangetoo · 12/12/2006 13:13

Dont think Dh would go to a GP, maybe would go to a clinic though.
How long in 'advance' do they have to take them.?
Does it take away some spontaneity?
Where does your DH get them from Merry?

Dh friends get them.

I know MP they also get all hormonal etc etc but anything to get to the size they want i guess.

MerryMellowmas · 12/12/2006 13:15

About 20 mins before not long at all.

morningpaper · 12/12/2006 13:18

Yes 20-30 minutes on an empty stomach

Yes it takes a way of bit of the spontanaity but there are other drugs that you can take which work pretty much immediately

Levitra is quicker to work

Listmaker · 12/12/2006 13:19

My dp used Ciailis when we first got together and nerves were getting the better of him after 26 years with the same woman who left him for someone else. It worked really well as takes 'the head issues' out of it. He doesn't need it now but it helped us a lot in those early days.

But he went to the Dr and I was so proud of him for doing that. You should get your dh to be checked before taking it as others have said.

Listmaker · 12/12/2006 13:21

p.s. Cialis works quicker too and the effects last up to 36 hours which helps spontaneity!

IsItChristmasYet · 12/12/2006 13:25

My DH has taken it and everything was fine... although he must have pestered me for a whole bloody day!!!

But i'd strongly suggest getting it from a reliable source - i dont think you have to go to a GP, but can get it over the counter in some places... i may be wrong!
HAVE FUN!
