Is it just me or does anyone else and their partner talk into the small hours about total trivia?

Last night we were awake until nearly 1am talking about ... our top ten favourite adverts

We whittled it down to about 15 iirc

Then we were talking about police dramas and which ones I had missed out on because I was too young (I'm 10 years younger than dh)

I would like to say it is a one-off but we do it a lot !

Do you do this too or is it just me and dh who are a little [ahem] sad??

Nope - you sound just like me and DH! It is either top 10 something or we are in competition on a quiz, test the nation - sometimes we flick through the music channels to guess the songs/year etc and the loser makes a cuppa!

SchneeBallFight · 01/12/2006 13:01

sometimes we play the Kevin Bacon game too lol!

God no. Might have done this 8yrs ago, but now I want to sleep, or read, or very occasionally have sex.
This should probably sound sad, but we're loving our lives...with the sleeping n all.

santasaltire · 01/12/2006 13:09

We do if DH has been out and has had a few drinks, because then he talks complete sh*te for hours! I try not to talk baxk but it doesn't work

ComeOyefaithfulVeneer · 01/12/2006 13:11

We used to do this a lot. Nowadays I can't keep my eyes open after 10pm .

MascaraOHaraIncredibleSheHulk · 01/12/2006 13:12

I would love to be like that with someone... how lovely

Sometimes I get talked at about fork lifts while I'm cooking dinner - does that count?

Sometimes I try to tell him about my day but "he doesn't understand my job" - does that count?

ilovecaboose · 01/12/2006 13:13

yes we do this a lot.

I love it. Its nice to have fun with him and be relaxed.

southeastastra · 01/12/2006 13:13

we used to too, but now i'm too tired and fall asleep, while he still waffles on

northerner · 01/12/2006 13:17

Yeah we do this too. We also have days where we choose an artist like Michael Jackson and have to think of as many as his hits as we can, taking turns to say one.

We ring eah other up at work just to say 'Man in the mirror' then hang up

Miaou · 01/12/2006 13:42

glad it's not just me then!!

Number one: The Guinness advert: "Tick followed tock followed tick followed tock"

Then (in no particular order)

Metz (Eastern European style puppets)

Kia-Ora ("it's too orangey for crows, it's just for me an' my dawg")

Honda - the one where all the bits of the engine are laid out and each bit makes the next one move

Another Honda one - the "hate something, change something" one

Hamlet - probably the photo booth one but we couldn't quite decide on that

An Orange one has to be in there but we're not sure which (nearly all Orange ones are good)

There were more but they escape me just now!!

Our shite talking happens on Sat and Sun mornings. Wake 8 ish, get up 11 ish after having solved all the world's problems. Etc.

WonderCod · 01/12/2006 13:47

kevin bacon?

Miaou · 01/12/2006 13:48

Ah now that would be more sensible mumblechum. I had to have a nap this morning when ds had his

OP posts:
PamiNativity · 01/12/2006 13:50

Kevin Bacon is a reference to a game to do with 6 degrees of separation.
Mumblechum - I'm impressed! Wish we could do that but with 3 little ones it's impossible

Tinkerboo · 01/12/2006 13:52

Dh would think I'd gone mad if I started these conversations.
We have more ernest serious conversation about the news etc oh dear we're not as bad as we sound.

SchneeBallFight · 01/12/2006 13:52

You have to link Kevin Bacon to another famous actor through films though I am rubbish at it because I havent seen many of his films!

Example - Kevin Bacon to Tim Robbins

Kevin bacon was in sleepers with brad pitt
brad pitt was in seven with morgan freeman
morgan freeman was in the shwashank redemption with tim robbins - see?

SchneeBallFight · 01/12/2006 13:52

someone beat me to it!

WonderCod · 01/12/2006 13:53

ah
id not be able to think of ONE film he si in

bonkerz · 01/12/2006 13:53

same here. Dh seems to find a second wind when it reaches 11pm and can talk the hind legs off a donkey, sometimes its not a problem but other times its stuff ive heard before and im just too tired!!!

SchneeBallFight · 01/12/2006 13:55

Youd be surprised cod look here

SchneeBallFight · 01/12/2006 13:56

Flatliners is a good one to link from!

SHHHHsantaiscoming · 01/12/2006 15:30

No we are the same..!!! Its usually a nice time when we get to chat without any interference from anyone including the tv..!!
In fact a few nights ago we were discussing our fave moments that we remember from one foot in the grave..and actually laughing out loud about them..!!
BUT imo thats the sign of a good relationship... Keep it up..!!

purplemonkeydasheranddancer · 01/12/2006 15:32

WOW! I seriously thought that me and DH were ODD because of the stuff we talk abuot at nihgt (strawberry shortcake characters, favourite childhood toys, top ten lists etc) we usually end up in fits of giggles.
now i feel all warm and fuzzy. I'm going to go text him and tell him that i love him!
thanks miaou!

SHHHHsantaiscoming · 01/12/2006 15:33

BTW Miaou .."I'll be your dog, Kiooorrraaaaa..... "..!! .
