Throughthestorm · 14/07/2015 00:26

Hello
Could anyone please recommend an online app that I could listen too whilst going to sleep ??? A hypnosis type thing ?
Many thanks
Or has anyone used alternative therapy ? For eg acupuncture or hypnotherapy .
I don't seem to be able to actually just take the first step ??

disgustedwithme · 14/07/2015 05:32

Thankyou all for being so understanding.
LASTGLEAMING oh knows I have a problem and reminds me quite often. But after 25 years (later this month) of marriage and hearing me say so many times I need to change he just now nods his head and says ok. Then goes and gets me a drink when I get irritable or ask for one. I need to start this on my own then once he sees I am committed I will enlist his / family help.
I have not had alcohol (lager being drink of choice) since my last one on Saturday night. I normally have 2 to 4 cans per night but can sink (and always do) double that on Friday and Saturday night. If I can get through the weekend and still be af next Monday I will speak to him. Sorry for the length of post. Have a good day everyone

CheesyNachos · 14/07/2015 06:36

Morning everyoe.

Through i listen to these;

www.amazon.co.uk/Stop-Drinking-Alcohol-Hypnosis-Hypnotherapy/dp/B0044M3JRG/ref=asap_bc?ie=UTF8

For general meditation I listen to Tara Brach guided meditations

tarabrach.com/

I think I am going to AA for the first time tonight.... I am terrified. I just want to go and see how I feel. I told DH I am trying out a new weightwatchers group. I thought that if thr AA meeting feels like something I will return to I will tell him then...but this is my fiction for my first time. I am so scared....... of this being a no turning back, or seeing people I know, of someone finding out.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 14/07/2015 10:00

CheesyNachos Flowers to you, that takes real courage Smile

Withme, that's amazing, well done!

So day 9 for me now, and not to put too fine a point on it..but I think my digestive system is starting to work properly again Blush

TeapotDictator · 14/07/2015 11:59

Have to be quick but wanted to add I used Andrew Johnson's Stop Drinking app which you are meant to listen to for the first three weeks. It was a couple of quid but really worth it and I'd listen to it now and then even after that.

Also Nachos - good luck for tonight. I had similar nerves but actually you're doing nothing more than sitting in to a meeting, no-one's going to make you decide anything and you can easily say you're still weighing up whether AA is for you or not. I've been to two meetings now and may go to another one; but for some reason had the impression that if I went to one I'd be signing on some sort of dotted line and committing to that as my way forwards.

TeapotDictator · 14/07/2015 12:02

Oh and Degust mine are 5 (and a half, as they would insist on adding) :)

PinkPopPony · 14/07/2015 19:54

Hello !

Can anyone tell me why I am soooo tired Hmm
its not even 8pm and I am longing for my bed Grin

CheesyNachos · 14/07/2015 20:09

Hi all,

Well! I ummed and aahhed all day about going to a meeting, then thought about having to face you all if I backed out and went. Problem was.... the meeting location stayed shut up and dark and I hung around for 10 minutes or so after the so-called starting time, and no-one turned up! Perversely I was annoyed because after girding my loins, I actually really wanted to go!!!

I have just gotten home and reviewed the website and rather embarrassingly I went to the wrong place..... two locations with similar names (one is * Street and the other * road) located within half a mile of each other, both of whom have a community space and I went to the wrong place entirely. I can't believe it. I went to a town 15 minutes away in the hope to avoid people I might know, and the outcome was I did not know where I was going!!!!

The only good thing is that I am not in two minds any more, I really want to attend a meeting.

Blush
CheesyNachos · 16/07/2015 06:02

Did I kill the thread? Grin

How is everyone this morning?

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 16/07/2015 06:33

Sorry! Just been a bit busy past couple of days Smile all good here though probably won't get to the gym until Saturday (am carless for another few weeks so have been rather lazy!)

LastGleaming · 17/07/2015 20:37

Hi all. Haven't been on so much lately so hope everyone is keeping well.

Did you get on ok this week withme? Good luck for the weekend!

Well done for attempting AA Cheesy, even if it didn't go to plan Grin Did you manage it again? I was soo nervous first time. Walked up and down several times and shaking like a leaf once I made it through the doors.

Have been having the thoughts the past week or so; one night can't hurt, surely I can control it now etc. It worries me. Some real temptation moments have hit. Maybe an AA meeting wouldn't go amiss here either.

Lucy2610 · 17/07/2015 21:01

Evening all! :) Anyone wobbling might want to read my blog post today and listen to the audio ... You can do so here

PinkPopPony · 17/07/2015 21:01

Hello

Have had a really good week ,topped off by a big unexpected tax refund today Grin
Celebrating with a Brew
Cant believe its only 2 weeks tomorrow AF ,seems like ages, am feeling great and have lost half a stone without trying .

cheesy well done ,even if it was the wrong place Grin
Last can you get some nice cold AF drinks in, ice, lime etc and make one when you get in to stave off the urge ?

LastGleaming · 17/07/2015 22:00

How lovely PinkPop, enjoy your unexpected windfall. Any nice treats planned with it? Half a stone is brill. The initial few weeks seemed to be ages for me too but then they eventually fly in. Becks blue and lime is my drink of choice this week - and Fruitbro apple and ginger hot toddy drinks as a hot alternative to tea and coffee.

Strange it's not so much the urge to have a drink right now this second, just a general temptation looking forward to the future. Like I've done my penance so can I drink now feeling? I've been here before last year and I know the lies I tell myself and I know I cannot drink normally but the devil on my shoulder is whispering that this time it could be different. Grrr.

Thanks Lucy. Listened to the first one, will listen to the second tomorrow night once I get the lo to bed as it's longer. Has been a small nudge in the right direction. Hope the house move and training is going well!

Lucy2610 · 17/07/2015 22:18

Last You're welcome. Tell that devil on your shoulder to f off!! And as AA would say try not to future trip - we only have today :)
Boxes everywhere here and training done - thanks for asking Grin
PinkPop congrats on 2 weeks tomorrow! Brew

PinkPopPony · 17/07/2015 22:55

No plans to splurge until I'm sure they won't want it back!!

Last alcohol is the liar, not you…

Lucy Will listen to those over the weekend.
The image of the bottle really hit home the damage alcohol does Sad
have a nice weekend everyone

CheesyNachos · 19/07/2015 08:49

Good morning! What plans everyone? DS has put a bid in for a trip to the beach and an ice-cream. Sounds okay to me.

PinkPopPony · 19/07/2015 09:49

Have a nice day everyone.

Lucy2610 · 19/07/2015 11:33

Gah - my future has more boxes to pack in it Wink Oh and taking an old rotten teak garden set apart with an electronic jigsaw Grin

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 19/07/2015 11:58

Well, am tired today, but that's because I finished watching recorded Poldark while waiting up for DH to get home from his (bonkers) 500km cycle Smile

PinkPopPony · 19/07/2015 13:24

500k ??? Shock

Am finding Im waking up earlyish even on a weekend -7.30 this morning but sleeping so well.
Its occurred to me what a bloody time thief alcohol is.
I would barely move until 2 in the afternoon.
Ive cleaned ,done loads of laundry, been for a run ouch and its only 13.30 .

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 19/07/2015 14:57

Yup, you read that right, 500kms (raising money for cancer wing of hospital his sis is currently using) Smile

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 19/07/2015 14:59

Oh and YY to alcohol being a time thief! I'm off to a colleagues leaving bbq this afternoon and there will be wine... But I will be having water or diet coke (thankfully none of them are big drinkers anyway) Smile

gladistopped · 19/07/2015 23:09

Hosted a charity walk today - 2 hour walk plus tea and cakes after at mine - which raised funds and was really good fun :)

Had to do a lot of tidying up before :) and make cakes :) and then do walk I really need stuff like this to make me tidy up the garden/barn etc !

No way I could have done this if I was drinking :) So pleased :)
