'13 years ago I married my best friend, the beautiful xx, who has helped me become more adventurous and try new things, who puts up with and often laughs at my dumb jokes and pranks, has been my biggest fan and supporter in all things, has blessed me with three, pretty awesome reflections of herself and ultimately has made me a better man. Anyone that knows xx already knows how extremely lucky I am and I count my blessings every day. Happy Anniversary xx.'

This followed by a stream of well wishers gushing about how they are the perfect couple and how they are such a great example of marriage, how tempted would you be to write:

'NOOOOOOO. She is a fucking, lying cowbag who serially cheats on her husband, including my husband and another man concurrently, and doesn't think anything of cheating in her own home with her kids there.'

Obviously I won't but it galls me to see this poor man's profusion of love for her when he seems blissfully unaware of what she's done behind his back (and most likely still is doing with other men). Unless it's all a cunning disguise and he is just trying to pretend.

Sorry - just needed to get that little rant off my chest.

I have a friend that does that and I happen to know that they both hate each other. It's denial.
Be careful you don't have too much wine one night and tell him the truth.

something2say · 01/07/2014 18:11

Get the hell away. They are nobs.

NewtRipley · 01/07/2014 18:12

Hmm

I am sceptical about the fact that gushfest. It might be a bit of PR, or wishful thinking.

That might be me being a bit cynical, though.

FunkyBoldRibena · 01/07/2014 18:12

'I hope for their future husbands' sakes not TOO much of a reflection'

NewtRipley · 01/07/2014 18:12

Sorry, mistyped

I am sceptical about that gushfest

LynetteScavo · 01/07/2014 18:16

It's FB.

Everybody pretends their live is perfect on social media.

"It's our anniversary, why the hell I'm still married to a lying, cheating cow bag, I'm not too sure." Doesn't have the same ring to it. Grin

Lacoba66 · 01/07/2014 18:18

Lol... The thing to remember (in my opinion) about F**kbook, is that it's mostly there for people who like to portray an image of their life, that's not really happening. A little bit like belonging to a 'self appreciation' society Smile.

Lacoba66 · 01/07/2014 18:20

Lol- bit of a cross post with LynetteScavo Grin but hers was funnier!

Rainicorn · 01/07/2014 18:20

I've found the people who brag so much on FB how good their lives are are usually putting a brave face on about how crap it really is.

Ignore, block or hide and move on.

tribpot · 01/07/2014 18:21

Please don't, but it would be so amusing to write something like "she is so full of love it seems like she always has some to share. How wonderful that you're still together".

PTFsWife · 01/07/2014 18:21

Wish there was a like button on mumsnet. I'd have liked that Lynette Grin

Agree with the others, I suspect he's overcompensating.

maras2 · 01/07/2014 18:48

If DH ever put any shit like that on FB, he'd be fishing his Ipad out of the loo. Hope you're ok OP. I followed your thread about FW and thought that you were amazing.

sebsmummy1 · 01/07/2014 18:52

This man's wife had an affair with your Husband and he doesn't know? How the fuck have you kept that to yourself?

GirlWithTheLionHeart · 01/07/2014 18:53
GirlWithTheLionHeart · 01/07/2014 18:54

And what seb said^ I'd have told him by now

PTFsWife · 01/07/2014 18:54

Thanks Maras2. I am fine. We're having a tough time at the moment as we have a number of huge things going on - a potential move abroad and DH's mother died last week. But besides normal stress and short tempers that these kind of things bring on, we are doing well. Far better than before actually. I should probably write and thank the OW for giving me my husband back. Without his affair, we'd have just gradually drifted apart. (I still think she is a witch though).

Do not react! I had to extract myself from Facebook following a bottle of prosecco and a lovey dovey post from my miserable absuive SIL who has turned my DBIL into a stranger. I launched into an rant of epic proportions which was dutifully "liked" by many other liked minded individuals.

I quit Fakebook shortly after...people were asking me for more Blush

QisforQcumber · 01/07/2014 18:56

Like minded not liked minded. No prosecco, I promise.

PTFsWife · 01/07/2014 18:57

Luckily I can't react as I am not a friend of either of theirs. But their privacy settings are set that I can see their status updates. I don't often look at them, but something nudged me today and I took a look. Lo and behold it is their wedding anniversary. Good luck to the bloke. Poor chap

I admire people like you and Orm who manage to see the other side of LTB. Not sure if I could but never say never.Sorry for the loss of MIL. Best wishes for the future.

Maleducada · 01/07/2014 19:01

ha ha, I'd think she'd hacked her husband's account.

men never gush about their wives on fb. I mean I know men who i believe are good husbands to my friends, but it's not a status thing for a man, having a wife that loves and cherishes him and understands him blah blah blah, what gives men status is having the best looking woman they think they can 'get' that's why they don't tend to go on about how compatible they are etc etc... never seen it. seriously.. Have about 300 on my fb, mixture of men and women. it's the women that gush about their husbands. god help them. i always feel embarrassed for them.

PTFsWife · 01/07/2014 19:03

maras - I think when they are absolutely, truly sorry for what they have done and are prepared to do whatever it takes to fix it, then it's possible to move on.

OP posts:
PTFsWife · 01/07/2014 19:04

Well Maleducada - this bloke is not a particularly good looking chap and his wife looks like Barbie. I think he probably thanks his lucky stars every day that he managed to bag such a good looking wife. He just didn't read the fine print she came with.

QisforQcumber · 01/07/2014 19:42

Wine cheers to that PTF. Bloody good luck to him.
