I was driving to work this morning and they played "Moving Out Today" - straight away I thought of the MN Relationships board. Grin

I loved this song when it was a hit in 1977 - the quirky vocal and lyrics.

How about a playlist of inspiring songs re LTB and moving onto a better life?

Dido's Hunter

If you were a king up there on your throne
would you be wise enough to let me go
for this queen you think you own
Wants to be a hunter again
wants to see the world alone again
to take a chance on life again
so let me go
let me leave

For the crown you've placed upon my head feels too heavy now

I could analyse this one for hours - it's simple, complex and fab. Plus my DD chose it as our "song on repeat" song last summer holidays and could sing it aged 2!! It was good therapy.

the female lyric:

Now and then I think of all the times you screwed me over
But had me believing it was always something that I'd done
But I don't wanna live that way
Reading into every word you say
You said that you could let it go
And I wouldn't catch you hung up on somebody that you used to know

humming the tune from the classic movie The Great Escape always make me feel better. I've not used in in a relationship context but when kids were only young DH and I took flight one day from the hell-hole of a street we lived on and kicked the dust off our feet.

Just think Steve McQueen on his bike (ok I know he got caught but some of them got out.....)

Special
You think you're special
You do
I can see it in your eyes
I can see it when you laugh at me
Look down on me
You walk around on me
Just one more fight
About your leadership
And I will straight up
Leave your shit
Cause I've had enough of this
And now I'm pissed

The Queen of all break up songs: Whitney Houston - it's not right, but it's ok:

Also this song by The Strokes was actually the catalyst to me breaking up with my controlling cheating ex: 'Someday'. It was the lyrics 'al

Strong Enough, Cher

Can I go all Carrie Bradshaw and suggest this one?

I am woman, hear me roar
In numbers too big to ignore
And I know too much to go back an pretend
Cause I've heard it all before
And I've been down there on the floor
No one's ever gonna keep me down again

Oh yes I am wise
But it's wisdom born of pain
Yes, I've paid the price
But look how much I gained
If I have to, I can do anything
I am strong
I am invincible
I am woman

Cheesy as hell but I love it!

"You Scared The Loving Out Of Me" Parliament Funkadelic., or "I'm never Gonna Tell It", by the same band. Bit left field, but nothing wrong with that!

AwkwardSquad · 21/05/2014 20:30
