The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Springing Into Spring Like Super Spingy Springs On A Springy Day!

Mouseface · 04/04/2014 19:06

Hello everyone, I'm Mouse :)

Welcome to the Bus, Gerald. Of course it's an imaginary Bus, and we're all aware of that, but we've been on this Bus for a bloomin' long time now so this place kinda feels like home. Grin

See, the thing is, we're a mix of drinkers, non drinkers, total abstainers, and also posters that are or have been, somewhere in between, around the block and back again!

There are no hard and fast rules here, just No judging, No bitching about others and most certainly No expectations of YOURSELF.

No-one can say what will or will not happen whilst you're posting here. You just have to take the ride, One Day At A Time.

There are two sayings that we have painted down either side of the Bus :-

    • The Vulnerable Need Our Support, Not Our Judgement
    • Alcohol Fosters Inertia

You've started to read this thread for a reason, and you'll either carry on and maybe Name Change (or not) and post, walk away, or realise that this is all about YOU, cry for a bit, and then come and take a seat :)

For those who would like a bit of our almost 4 year history, have a read of THIS TRULY INSPIRING THREAD

- AND THIS IS OUR PREVIOUS THREAD TO THIS ONE

We're not a quiche or a clicky group, four years is a long time and longer when you're pissed for some of it, so whilst the threads may look 'clicky', I can promise you, it's just that we all 'know' one another because we've been here for a bit but you'll soon get to know us all, who loves what (CHEEEEEEEESE), but we were all 'new posters' at one time, weren't we? :)

I must say I was surprised to hear that isindie was the one with the banana Shock - is there something else I've missed??

venusandmars · 05/06/2014 21:47

And to be honest, I don't think any jokes about 'humping' are going to go well on here.... [smirk]

aliasjoey · 05/06/2014 21:52

a banana ? This place gets weirder every day....

dementedma · 05/06/2014 21:53

isindie is a closet....ummm..straight person and has just come out. The pink banana is a symbol of pinkness and umm, bananariness!
She is also a rabbit murderer!
All babes must henceforth wear a pink banana as a sign of solidarity and bananariness.
beaches we need to talk about this here camel.
If he eats my green opal fruits its camel burgers all round.

aliasjoey · 05/06/2014 21:55

Fairenuff · 05/06/2014 22:12

Could you strap this to The silver sparkly giant stiletto please?

Er, ok ma but you do realise we are now driving around with a rigid pink strap-on on the roof Confused

beachestoexplore · 05/06/2014 22:38

That sounds perfect for a fantasy bus (although possibly more fetish than fantasy) Grin

ShockShockShock @ camel burgers. He assures me he only spits on the green ones Grin. In an attempt to win you over I have uploaded a photo of himself and his best smile....

Oh and guggs, it is ALWAYS looking I reckon!

fatedtopretend · 05/06/2014 22:56

beachestoexplore · 05/06/2014 23:32

Well done fated, hope you get a good sleep and wake up proud of yourself.

lookingforhope · 06/06/2014 00:00

Oi, I am being demonised here!!!! Clarence / Humphrey is not my camel!!!! Though I am getting to like him.

Ma, please can I have a pet elephant?

lookingforhope · 06/06/2014 00:02

Ps - good title for a kids' book, Clarence is not my Camel (sharpens pencil anticipates new career as the next Julia McDonald)

babyjane1 · 06/06/2014 06:11

have you lot been on the wacky backy, if not then that's bloody worse...

day 12, I have no cravings which I am sure is down to me taking vitamin B1 (thiamine). I have researched this and it is used extensively to help alcoholics during withdrawal, it promotes wellbeing while alleviating cravings for alcohol. as far as I know it has no nasty side effects, is inexpensive and it really is helping. I appreciate part of this may be a placebo effect but its been proven to be very effective, never made it this far since pregnancy so something is definitely different, the recommended dose for our purpose is 300mg per day. im just sharing in case it may help any of you fabulous babes, though looking at the last several posts its not the only medication you lot should be on.

Happy Friday my lovelies!!!

littlegreenlight1 · 06/06/2014 07:17

300mg of B1 on lunch break shopping list. Oh crap it's Friday. I'm making dp make something amazing for dinner to replace the usual Friday reward of a couple of pints then wine. Eeek.

guggenheim · 06/06/2014 08:29

Morning loony bin

baby I've stopped taking the Bvits due to being brassic but think I'll stick them back on the shopping list again. When I'm feeling rich I buy the massively expensive WellWoman tablets. Well done on your progress Smile

Joey I'm making hats. They are sooooooo bad but I can obsess about wooly things as much as I like. I have made a few granny squares too. These days I'm trying to channel the alkie part of my brain into safe hobbies. It works as well as meditation for me plus it keeps my ears warm.Actually,if you all receive a horribly mangled woolly thing in the post for christmas, then it's with love from me!
What'cha making then?

fated ready for day 2? Hand holding available. I've been through many a day 1 and will probably see more. It all gets better.

Since it is early in the morning I am simply ignoring the erm...adornment on top of the bus. Bloody hell, this is beginning to look like Pricilla Queen of the Desert round here.

venusandmars · 06/06/2014 09:03

Happy Friday indeed. The weekend looms so what better time to plan for this evening. Things are usually crap on TV on Friday nights (and Saturday nights) so this is a good chance to do something different. Wrap up a picnic tea and go out somewhere quiet and leafy, or eat fish and chips on the prom, or go to a park with a bag of popcorn and eat hot dogs and cocoa when you get home.

Have a relaxing bath and know that tomorrow can be ONE morning (just one) when you can wake up hangover free.

SoberSocFish · 06/06/2014 09:32

I think I'm going to join the crochet club.

Going slightly mental here, but that's rather fitting with the bus.

This week-end will knock of a month. And I'm really struggling. Don't want to drink, but not sure what I want. Chocolate......

aliasjoey · 06/06/2014 09:47

crochet is a great way to keep your mind off the alcohol, it keeps your hands busy. Plus you have a real incentive not to have anything which could spill on your beautiful handiwork.

I am making a blanket for DD for her birthday. It's going to have pockets on it to store her trash little treasures. Smile

babyjane1 · 06/06/2014 10:19

oh "venus" your so wise, your posts soothe my soul. Thanks guggs for the encouragement, remember if you get the B1, in the b vitamin complex there is only a tiny amount, the ones I have are 100mg b1 only, they really do seem to help tremendously, I came to learn about them from an old friend who knocked a bottle of vodka a day habit to sobriety using these and willpower and she reckons they've changed her life, got to be worth a try!!! xxxx

beachestoexplore · 06/06/2014 11:23

That is great advice about B1 baby. I bought a multi B100 a few months back and went to check the actual contents this morning; it seem that there is 100mg of all the b's. However 100mg of B2 is pretty excessive and turns urine bright yellow Shock. Next time I think I would look for just b1.

Really impressed with all the crochet projects, very inspiring.

hope love clarence is not my camel! (Nice try but we know he is yours!)

Good luck for today babes xx

Mouseface · 06/06/2014 11:47

Morning, tis me, Mouse

Quick update - Not only have I realised that I've not had a drink for a whole 8 days, but I'm having an endoscopy at 2pm. Lovely. Not.

I can't stay long but I wanted to leave some warm muffins, of all varieties, freshly brewed coffees from around the world, the finest of teas, including herbal, and a gentle hug from me to you all because I'm sore.

Love you all lots xxx

beachestoexplore · 06/06/2014 11:52

Good luck with the endoscopy mouse. I hope it goes smoothly and they soon get to the bottom of what is going on. Well done on 8 days, a small but incredibly worthy bonus! Smile

babyjane1 · 06/06/2014 12:22

good luck mouse thinking of you xxxx

venusandmars · 06/06/2014 14:17

beaches were you trying to be funny? "hoping they soon get to the bottom of it", and can I add - hope there is some light at the end of the tunnel But seriously mouse I hope that the procedure was straightforward and that it gives some answers...

venusandmars · 06/06/2014 14:31

OOh vitamin B (and all its derivatives) I love it. And I've posted about it often. Alcohol disrupts the uptake of all the b vitamins, and depletes it from our bodies. The 'B' vitamins are really important in cell growth, so every part of what our bodies are made up of - particularly those that grow quickly: blood cells, nerve cells, skin cells. So it is no surprise that when we stop drinking our nails grow, our hair shines, our skin looks better, our gut recovers. And it is no surprise that we feel brighter, more alert (all those neurons reconnecting), less depressed, and more emotionally resilient. And it is no surprise that allowing our blood cells to regenerate properly gives us more energy, and helps us fight infection and illness more effectively.

Vitamin B tablets are good, but also all the B vitamins are in wonderful food that is really good for us - oats, wholemeal, spinach, cauliflower, nuts, liver, peas, eggs, brown rice, asparagus, oranges, chicken, mushrooms, tomatoes, strawberries, bananas, watermelon, soy beans, broccoli......

Plan your day round all those foods, and you will feel great and you will have no time (or need) to drink!

beachestoexplore · 06/06/2014 14:38

GrinBlushGrin NO! What I actually intended to convey was what you said
i hope the procedure was straightforward and that it gives some answers..... (Not the tunnel bit!!). You are incorrigible Miss Venus Grin. Agree on all those lovely foods - Popeye was onto something with all that spinach...
