I've always enjoyed sex and I could use the money. Plus the hours are flexible and I'd be working from home.

Any advice?

Really?

Go and read the reviews on 'Punternet' first.

Only then will you get to truly know how much they loathe women. And how much they want anal, to have really rough sex, to really force their penises into your throat to see how you gag.

And that's a site that remove the truly worst ones - like the ones where they've raped and not paid.

Twinklestein · 29/03/2014 20:10

It's not about enjoying sex: it's about being able to stomach faking orgasms with unattractive men; agreeing to be called whore, slut, spat at, as part of the service; fending off violent clients and entitled clients who don't understand that they've bought your choice of services, not the right to your whole body.

Read these experiences, for example:

I'm kind of wondering if she's pullling our leg too squeegle =)

weeonion · 29/03/2014 20:12

A woman I know who identifies as a "sex-worker" once said that if you imagine a person you find really really repulsive and repugnant, then imagine you having to swallow their ejaculate that tastes beyond foul whilst keeping a feigned smile on your your face. If you find that appealing, acceptable and more than bearable, all for 30 quid, then you could move to next level of thought and consideration about "going on the game" as you say. I thought it was interesting and frank advice. How does that sound to you OP?

Bloodyteenagers · 29/03/2014 20:13

Before I answer I want to know if you have children, regardless of their ages.. Or if you ever intend to ever having children.

BOFtastic · 29/03/2014 20:15

I imagine it's a sure fire way to never be able to enjoy sex again, tbh.

BertieBotts · 29/03/2014 20:19

Not being funny, but rent is expensive. How is it financially worth it to rent out a flat for the purposes of prostitution especially if she is doing it "on and off".

BOFtastic · 29/03/2014 20:22

Apocalypto, I hope you're not offended, but I've just looked at some of your old posts, and only recently you posted this:

Apocalypto Tue 18-Mar-14 19:14:12

"I wouldn't care if I never had sex with anyone else ever again.

This is probably not unrelated to having two children, large financial commitments and a more considered view of my DP than the initial one of 12 years ago."

What has changed? What are your DP's thoughts?

Twinklestein · 29/03/2014 20:31

I assumed it was a wind up and originally prefaced my post with such, however, if wrong that's quite insulting, so I thought better of it.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/03/2014 20:39

Didn't we have this thread before?

CarryOnDancing · 29/03/2014 20:45

Grin Love that you are giving tax advise Dirtybadger. If the "punters" don't get her, the tax man will!

Seriously do prostitutes have accountants? I thought they were know as pimps?!

ThePrisonerOfAzkaban · 29/03/2014 20:48

Bretie
I'm not too sure how she does it tbh but I know she's got a very small mortgage and one bed flats are cheap around me, renting a family home however is much more costly. When I say on and off she does it for a year or 2 then stops and starts again, she does have a day job as well. I get the impression that she's not cheap though, not the £30 anal shag in the car park. I know she's not seeing people everyday and is certainly not doing 5 or 6 a day. Yes she has had some bad experiences but nothing to my knowledge of being forced or raped, she's had a few that have tried to get away with not paying but now she sees regulars that isn't an issue. I don't know if she's telling me the whole truth maybe she's glamorous it, I don't know, I know one of only reasons I know is because I don't know any of her friends or family and i'm open about sex as well. But at least she knows what she is getting herself into unlike with modeling where you never knew what what happen.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 29/03/2014 20:53

"But at least she knows what she is getting herself into unlike with modeling where you never knew what what happen"

Err...

SolidGoldBrass · 29/03/2014 21:01

I'd advise you to read this book, OP. It's a sensible, down-to-earth guide to becoming a sex worker that neither glamorizes it nor stigmatizes it.

weeonion · 29/03/2014 21:09

As part of your research - it would be wise to read the accounts and perspectives of survivors of the sex industry (or women who have exited). Very often, they have different opinions to when they were actively involved and have no investment in glamourising commodified sex.

The Op hasn't been back on the thread for a while.

Wossname · 29/03/2014 21:12

Meerka, I am pretty sure that Belled du Jour turned out to be a male writer?

BuggersMuddle · 29/03/2014 21:15

Belle de Jour was revealed as a female academic. She continued to write when she had an academic career, so there is a question as to the veracity, but she is an academic and was a prostitute - that much is a given.

Enjoyingmycoffee · 29/03/2014 21:15

I an speechless someone recokmeded belle du jour?!

Major glamorisation of the job. Incredibly so.

No, it was a woman. Brooke magnanti

ThePrisonerOfAzkaban · 29/03/2014 21:17

Thedoc
From what she's told me a far few modelling jobs she got weren't what they said they were, pressure to do topless. Some turned into porn films, others had a lot of drugs around. She had more hassle and said it was more seedy, photographers saying if she slept with them they would make the other girls look worse then her so she got jobs, and a lot of these girls were young too 16/17/18. Maybe it's because she wasn't at the top in the modelling world and she's high end in the sex one, only saying what I've been told.

BOFtastic · 29/03/2014 21:17

No, I think it was Brooke Magnanti who writes for the Guardian now.

OurMiracle1106 · 29/03/2014 21:17

Why don't you look More at pornography. Least it's legal and safer and not in your own home.

I like sex too still wpuldnt sell myself though.

TheDoctrineOfSnatch · 29/03/2014 21:18

So in one she might get pressured to have sex she didn't wantband in the other she will definitely have sex she didn't want?
