Dodgy text msg from DH....not meant for me

fedupandexhausted · 02/02/2014 07:57

My husband is away this weekend on a works conference.... The whole company is there.

I've woken up to a text saying 'lol...have had to come up. It's 321'.

I feel a bit sick but am I reading too much into this?

OP posts:
PublicEnemyNumeroUno · 02/02/2014 11:50

Who says 3:21am surely you'd just say 3:20am.

Id say defiantly his room number. But who the text was to is anyone's guess.

Id have text back straight away to be honest but that's me, i couldn't drive myself crazy all night

PlasmaBall · 02/02/2014 11:52

Actually I think the text was probably meant for Op. If he was replying to someone how did he manage to send it to the wrong place?

LucyLasticBand · 02/02/2014 11:54

my reaction is its innocent.

tessa6 · 02/02/2014 12:04

That's lovely of you all but are you joking?! Who writes a time as specifically as 21 minutes past 3 ?! With no colon? Plus the OP clearly k nows what time it was sent, it'll be on the message.
It's clearly his room number. He's obviously replying to something hence the 'lol'' and 'have had to come up' implies he needed to go up from the party or events to his room, either to preserve some sort of appearance or just because he's tired. the question is who it was intended for. It could very easily be a male friend who wanted to borrow a razor or something.

Is there any other evidence or reason to be suspicious, OP? Bear in mind if there is anything dodgy he will have had plenty of time to concoct an explanation.

LucyLasticBand · 02/02/2014 12:05

perhaps it is 321 as in 54321?

TequilaItMakesMeHappy · 02/02/2014 12:06

I work away fairly often and that seems typical of the messages we send each other. We might mention in passing that we'll have breakfast together or something and would usually give each others room a ring or give each other a knock in the morning etc.

I've also been on the receiving end of messages inviting me back to someone's room and the intent has been very clear in those.

I'd say you have nothing to worry about

LucyLasticBand · 02/02/2014 12:06

or does it mean three minutes to one?

StealthPolarBear · 02/02/2014 12:08

I'd say 321 in a jokey way if I was trying to emphasise quite hoe late it was. I still think it's a room no tho and without any additional info I'd assume innocent

TequilaItMakesMeHappy · 02/02/2014 12:09

Also my phone has an annoying quirk whereby I can read a message on my lockscreen but if I open my messages it defaults to the last message I actually opened, so unless I reply straight away it's quite easy to send to the wrong person, as I've found out a few lots of times

Mellowandfruitful · 02/02/2014 12:10

But at three minutes to one I would just say 'it's one'. Don't think many people would feel the need to give the time so precisely. It's a hotel room or some joke between workmates.

Thisisaghostlyeuphemism · 02/02/2014 12:11

But it was sent at two o'clock.

I'm sticking with the it's room number but innocent theory

Jemma1111 · 02/02/2014 12:12

It could be totally innocent , however, I don't believe it is and I'm not the suspicious type !

I can't imagine her dhs' work colleagues questioning where he was at 2 in the morning , surely they'd have realized he'd called it a night , and as someone suggested that he might have been texted to say that he'd left his jacket downstairs, or whatever, then I'd imagine if that were the case someone wouldve took care of his jacket and given it back to him the next morning.

I'd say that he replied to a text from a female colleague asking where he'd got to and he gave her his room number.

BuzzardBird · 02/02/2014 12:13

I really think that if he were trying to persuade a woman up to his room he would at least have put a kiss at the end or something persuasive. This is obviously an innocent text. He probably asked someone to drop something to his room in the morning or has arranged an early morning meeting.

Abbykins1 · 02/02/2014 12:30

'lol...have had to come up. It's 321'

Where are the XXXXXX?

Nothing to worry about.

BuzzardBird · 02/02/2014 12:38

IAFST Grin

StealthPolarBear · 02/02/2014 12:40

Jemma what about the
Well knock on your door for breakfast
Explanation?

LeBearPolar · 02/02/2014 12:44

If I got that text from my DH, I'd have replied 'What the hell are you on about?'

How about actually asking him that as a first step before deconstructing it seventy six billion ways? Confused

StealthPolarBear · 02/02/2014 12:46

Agree bear . Op not been back for while hopefully that's what's happening

Jemma1111 · 02/02/2014 12:47

Stealth

I really can't see why anyone would knock on his door to go to breakfast , he's a grown man so I'm sure he's capable of meeting others in the breakfast area in the morning .

However, like I said , it could all be totally innocent .

It's best for the OP to check her dhs phone for other messages when he gets home.

CooEeeEldridge · 02/02/2014 12:51

If I got that I'd assume a text saying where are you etc, and what room do we charge drinks to? Especially if he is a manager.

TheNewSchmoo · 02/02/2014 12:51

I've got deja vu.
Wasn't there a thread identical to thisa couple of months back?
He came home and there wasa plausible explanation for it if I recall.

TheNewSchmoo · 02/02/2014 12:52

Stupid space bar!

fanjolina · 02/02/2014 12:55

I would imagine the preceding text read something like this.....

"where did you go? It's been bugging me all night since you mentioned it - what was the show Dusty Bin was on?"

noddyholder · 02/02/2014 13:05

Thats the sort of thing my dp would text me as he is a bit of a lightweight at parties and often has to bow out!

Cabrinha · 02/02/2014 13:09

I can't believe more than one person saying it's innocent because it has no kisses. Fucksake! Not everyone does the cutesy kiss thing you know! Hon.
