So I went on my first date in 16 years and am happy to report that it was really rather wonderful. We went for a walk, chatted and had coffee and cake (he had a flapjack). He was very easy company and we 'just got on'.

Happy days :)

Ahhh... lovely. :) So nice to hear a date story that doesn't end up with anyone turning out to be a nutter.

AnyFucker · 18/01/2014 15:18

How nice and normal Smile

NoArmaniNoPunani · 18/01/2014 15:19

So are you seeing him again?

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 18/01/2014 18:17

It must have been nerve racking beforehand, good to hear you're glad you went and had a good time.

JonSnowKnowsNothing · 18/01/2014 18:19

Sounds nice! I'm envious!
Is this the guy you met while dog walking, or am I confusing you with another poster?

Doha · 18/01/2014 18:21

All good so far Smile

highhopes1 · 18/01/2014 21:56

Ahh lovely to hear that wishing you all the best for the next date I assume to
be very soon?, good luck, and good on you .

iamonthepursuitofhappiness · 18/01/2014 23:37

JSKN, yes it is; he invited me out this weekend but I stipulated it had to be a dog walk so I could kill two birds with one stone as am studying at the moment and have to hand the work in on Monday so haven't got time to keep breaking away from the computer.

Yes, I am sure I will! He texted me before I got home and said he enjoyed the walk and I was very good company and to wish me luck for my presentation on Monday. A little texting back and forth and he said he was looking forward to seeing me again so I said "You'd better ask me out again hadn't you?" and he said "I'm going to!" (He has been on annual leave and needs to look at his shift pattern before arranging anything).

I said to a friend, it is so refreshing, he is a proper grown up!

No problemo Smile

louby44 · 19/01/2014 06:40

Fabulous. Here's to many more....

iamonthepursuitofhappiness · 20/01/2014 21:34

So far so good. He texted me 'good luck' this morning (Uni related) so when I got home I asked him if he was free tomorrow and we are meeting up with our dogs in the morning. Decided to bite the bullet as I have no child free days/days off until the beginning of Feb otherwise.

Sorry if over sharing here but I don't really want to share IRL at the mo as all my friends will think I am mad/on the rebound....

happiness I haven't told anyone IRL either. They will think I'm bonkers.

I'm going to see how it pans out before I say anything!

chocolatespiders · 20/01/2014 22:27

That's exciting-is there anywhere you could walk dogs that has a outdoor cafe place so you can have a drink?

iamonthepursuitofhappiness · 20/01/2014 23:10

Yes, though this time I am taking him on a walk I like to do that doesn't have one but I like your thinking :)

OP posts:
chocolatespiders · 20/01/2014 23:16
