Internet dating stories ?

I'm giving it a whirl, I have signed up and put myself out there. Feels really scary and so far is bringing disappointing results. Anyone had any really positive experiences internet dating? Equally if you have had bad ones, post it too so I can see how it really is....oooh no on second thoughts, post all the funny stories to cheer me up... go on... there must be some good'uns between you all. :-)

I married my hubby 6 years ago, we been together for 12 years after meeting on internet :-)

DH and I married three years ago after meeting online - expecting our second baby now :)

Another success story here. Met online 14 years ago, married for 6 with a 2 y/o DS.

I met someone who seemed so nice online, then in the pub KEPT doing bloody Yoda impressions - it was terrible.

I met dh online. Been together 8 years this june married for 2 and have a two year old princess.

I met my boyfriend online - we've been together nearly 2 years :)

We're married too with a baby on the way. I did meet a few bores along the way though!!

I had to kiss a fair few frogs (I didn't kiss all of them) but met DP online, getting married in September!

Had lovely email correspondence with two guys I never met. Met a couple, maybe 4 or 5. One guy became a good friend but it never went further. Then I met (now) DH, emailed for two months then met f2f... now been happily married for 8 years.

Me and two best friends all married with children.

I had 5 dates beforehand, all ok.

Don't put too pressure on yourself or them-don't husband hunt. Look to have fun and if it goes somewhere then it's a bonus.

Met a trained killer who was gorgeous and made me laugh but deranged!
Then met DP who faffed about for 2 months until we eventually met for a drink. 2.5 years on we are solid. Nicest man I ever met!

Give it a go, but read the Red Flags thread and bin any who don't live up to expectations.

Met current boyfriend online. Was supposed to be a casual thing but am totally in love and he's the nicest man I have ever met.
Also met some fabulous shags previous to him!
It's only as risky as meeting someone in a bar so preserve he will be out there

If you know your red flags it's as good a place as anywhere to meet someone.
I've dated with 'RL' people and online people....as much of a chance of meeting a loser in both situations IMO. In fact, I'd go as far to say that you may be less on guard in RL if you are introduced to someone.
Currently with an 'onliner'...he's lovely.

Met my dp online after a few years of on-and-off internet dating. Met plenty of nice people, just no long-term prospects. A couple of them I'm even still in touch with as mates.

Dp and I have been together for three years, very happy. I see it as no different from meeting any other way. There are muppets everywhere, not just online, but there are plenty of good men too. Give it a go!
