Four and a half months after leaving my husband I have finally found somewhere to live! I get keys and sign the tenancy on Sunday, and so I'm now trying to furnish it from freecycle and the such.
I am super excited, I have never lived alone, I went from home to my husbands house, then home again in September. I will finally have a home of my own.
I'm off to look for cheap wallpaper on the homebase clearance!

Thank you mumsnetters, I lurked for months and months, reading about others experiences with abusive partners and slowly coming to realise that my husbands behaviour was appalling and unacceptable, then slowly building the courage to leave. Without you all I'd still be with him.

Well done you! I am going through something similar now: still in the thick of it but can see light at the end of the tunnel. You are right, the support on here is phenomenal.

Best of luck with the new place.

Big congrats! I did the same after plucking up the courage to start a thread a few months ago. There are moments when I'm lonely but the feeling of freedom is overwhelming Grin

And by the way really good to hear positive stories on here.

I feel like a while weight has lifted now I know I have a place to live. It may be a few weeks before I'm ready to move in, but, happily, I found out in time to change my primary school application for DS, and list our new address on it and apply for schools nearby to the new house. So hopefully he will be going to a school just ten minutes walk away, where they keep pet chickens :)
It's a house, with a big kitchen / diner and a little sad neglected garden which will be lovely in the summer once it's had a bit of TLC.
