Tinder.....anyone?

Joined Tinder on a whim a couple of days ago. Is it just a hook up app or has anyone actually started a relationship from it? I might be interested in a nice bit of no strings sex but not sure how this is meant to work!

one of my friends met her boyfriend on there

JaceyBee · 01/01/2014 23:05

I use it for casual hook ups, very effectively if I say so myself! Wink there are some really hot guys on there. I think a lot of people are looking for something more serious though. Just not me.

Blushingm · 01/01/2014 23:18

I can't get then hang of it at all. I tried to use it but everyone is 18 - I'm old enough to be their mum!

I can't figure out how to search for people or anything

Maybe I'm just too old Smile

Ikeameatballs · 01/01/2014 23:34

I'm texting a lovely looking guy who lives in my city and is the right age for me. Not really sure what I want from it, casual hook ups, nice dates, maybe a proper relationship!

Ooh, he has just asked what I'm looking for which I think means that he's after casual hook up but I could be wrong!

OP posts:
Ikeameatballs · 01/01/2014 23:37

Yes, he's after "something fun"...

I'm intrigued, but am I right in thinking you need a Facebook account to join?

Ikeameatballs · 01/01/2014 23:42

Yes and it uses your Facebook profile pics as your Tinder profile pics.

A depressing number of men seem unaware of this/don't care and have pics of them looking v loved up with partners and dc.

Nagoo · 01/01/2014 23:42

So can your FB friends see you are on it? Hmm

Ikeameatballs · 01/01/2014 23:47

No FB friends can't see that you are on it but it tells you if you have mutual friends.

I now don't like this guy as he has just called me "Hun".

Where are the people like me but with a penis?!!? Where are they hiding?

OP posts:
FreakinAllAboutSugar · 01/01/2014 23:55

The "hun" thing would kill it for me too. Smile

Blushingm · 01/01/2014 23:57

And me! ConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused

Ikeameatballs · 02/01/2014 00:01

Yes, I don't think I even want casual sex with someone who calls me "Hun" Sad.

ikea also - women in wedding dresses. I mean, I get that they looked good in that pic, but it's not really the look to go for on a dating site.

I kind of like the idea of tinder - at least you know someone's vaguely interested in you before you start messaging them. And being able to see mutual friends / interests is good too.

JaceyBee · 02/01/2014 00:36

I wouldn't do any other online dating but I like tinder coz you can't get unsolicited messages from random dickheads, you have to 'like' them before they can message you. Plus, if you like someone and they don't like you, they never know you liked them in the first place so it's not embarrassing!

JaceyBee · 02/01/2014 00:38

Blushingm, if you go into settings you can set your search parameters, based on gender, age and location Smile

Tinder is not just for dating - it's really easy to chat with people - I found some people I lost touch with and stuff.........it's not just people looking for a shag!

Blushingm · 02/01/2014 03:02

Something's really got up your nose brokenhearted!!!!! - wish there was an eyes rolling emoticon!

Alaskanebraska · 02/01/2014 03:17

Lol at wedding dress pics. Op you are still married?!

HairyGrotter · 02/01/2014 06:19

Blushingm is a right sort, laughable really, just not for her husband or the wives of the other husbands she shags

niceupthedance · 02/01/2014 09:10

I like tinder because it cuts out a lot of expectations. You match, have quick chat, arrange to meet up - it's a lot less pressure than other sites.

I think a lot of people are looking for casual, but then isn't that how a lot of relationships start?

Incidentally, the first bloke I started chatting to had logged on at the airport before he flew 3,000 miles home - then offered to pay for a flight for me to visit him as we got on so well! Not taken him up on that one yet though... Wink

Blushingm · 02/01/2014 09:37

Oh ffs - this thread is turning into let's all bash blushingm!!!!

Blushingm · 02/01/2014 10:27

Casmama · 02/01/2014 10:31
