The Brave Babes Battle Bus - Kicking The *Wine Witch* Into Touch, Because Enough Is Enough!

Mouseface · 23/10/2013 23:16

Hello, tis me, Mouse :)

This is a thread for those who are worried about their drinking habits towards alcohol, or/and drugs.

Even if you think that you are drinking more tonight than last night or this week than last, come and have a chat, find a seat, we don't bite! Wink

We are a supportive Bus, full of very different posters, from various backgrounds. Some of us drink in moderation, allowing ourselves the odd glass or two as a treat, or just because we're in control of our drinking for that day.

One Day At A Time.

We have those who abstain completely, and those who wake every day to Day 1 and hope with all of their hearts that they can, and will, make it to Day 2.

If you've followed our journey to date, you'll know who most of us are by now :) and we kind of have two 'sayings', that sum up who we are -

    • The Vulnerable Need Our Support, Not Our Judgement
    • Alcohol Fosters Inertia

That said, we will not have any bashing of support groups, such as AA or Community Support Teams or even your own GP.

This Bus is a place for honesty, sanctuary and safety, something that has taken four years for a number of very special, very lovely, very honest and caring Babes to establish.

So, come find a seat, grab something warm from the supply cupboard at the back of the Bus as it's going to be cold tonight! Brrrr!

And, if you'd like to read back over some of our history, HERE IS THE LAST THREAD

And, HERE IS WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

We hope to meet you soon :) xxx

Don't mind you asking at all spanna but I am one of those controlled drinkers that has managed to somehow drink now and again without going back down the slippery slope.

I've been doing that for months now, can't even remember really. To start with I had to work really hard at stopping at a sensible amount and not letting the frequency creep up but now it's easy, although I am always mindful of how/when/why I drink - instead of just turning to alcohol as my first choice, which is what I used to do.

I don't drink much these days, I really do love not drinking and I absolutely hate hangovers, so it's not that hard for me. I don't think I was ever addicted, I just got into some bad habits and needed to learn new ones.

And I've learned them from these wonderful, clever babes who are chock full of advice.

I would say don't try controlled drinking until you've got a good dry spell under your belt first. Why not do dry November with some of us and see how hard it is for you.

Or just do one day at a time. Whatever you find easiest. Trial and error worked for me. Lots of error to start with and then, finally, some success Grin

ThisIsMyTime · 07/11/2013 19:12

Checking in on day 9 never managed to get past day 8 for last 2 years so massive achievement here dry November still going strong how is everyone else getting on ? Welcome newbies sorry not to nc x

Mamabear74 · 07/11/2013 19:21

Thanks beaches & fairenuff and all the rest of you inspirational babes. Sorry to hear about ss cock up why, must have been slightly satisfying to hear the judge open a can o woopass though. Tricky time of night this. Have eaten, that knocked the cravings a bit, but its still so early! Might have to do the drill. I have the wine witch whispering.

Fairenuff · 07/11/2013 19:25

Do the drill Mama, nothing wrong with that if it works for you. Have you got a good book to take to bed with you?

Imdoingthis · 07/11/2013 19:41

I have been fucked over by the witch the bastard and the ex what's wrong with me

spanna41 · 07/11/2013 20:09

Mamabear74 · 07/11/2013 20:22

i'm just wanted to hold your hand, please don't be too hard on yourself

Fairenuff · 07/11/2013 20:34

spanna, to stop you going out to buy booze (or drinking if you have any in the house), go and clean your teeth, put pjs on and get all settled down for the night, preferably in bed.

Im can you do the drill too? Have something to eat if you can and then drink lots of water. Into bed and sleep it off. Tomorrow is another day. Is he with you now?

Imdoingthis · 07/11/2013 20:48

Feeling embarrassed and foolish at myself glad i can be open with you babes
I might just do the drill, leave him to it x

ruralreynard · 07/11/2013 20:50

Fairenuff · 07/11/2013 20:57

Where is baby, and joey and all the other reg'lars. Privates on parade please!

(No smutty comments niver)

dementedma · 07/11/2013 21:02

I,m if you can get that bastard ex out of your life the witch will slink out after him. An vice versa. They need each other like some sort of horrible tag team.
why so glad the judge kicked ass. How much longer before you have proved your point and get your baby back?
spanna look babe, I know you are a newbie and all but you have been on this bus 5 minutes and you want a GREEN opal fruit?
. A GREEN one? < turns alarming shade of purple>
.......and someone spring mouse purple and the rest of the crew from that bloody dressing up box. Those muffled cries for help are getting on my tits!

dementedma · 07/11/2013 21:04

faire get stuffed Grin
One glass here tonight, seem to be reducing glass by bloody glass.

PurpleWolfe · 07/11/2013 21:14

"The hills are alive....with the sound of music....!"

Thank you Beaches and Ma for springing me from the confines of the dreaded dressing up box. To be honest, I may just sneak back in there after my brief re-appearance on the Bus. It's been a fuck-awful day. The car was in for MOT and has cost me an unaffordable £850 in total (inc tax) to get it through on top of two new tyres yesterday (£150) and a new windscreen (£75 insurance excess) a week ago. So, Christmas in the Purple household is cancelled for the foreseeable future. Huge, huge fucking sigh! Can't do without a car, live in the wilds of Suffolk where there are only two buses a week and then the bugger is filled with pigs and chickens!!! (Slight over-exaggeration there for comedic value).

Thank you Isinde for your lovely comments about the Bushcraft day. It was a brilliant day. xx

SocFish · 07/11/2013 21:17

beach I’m viewing Christmas as just one day and it will be hard because usually it’s a green light to start drinking at 11.am. But for some reason I feel I can do it just because it’s only one day. I’m worried about January because there are two occasions that I’m going away for a couple of days and everyone around me will be drinking. But I’ve got my antabuse. So I think I will make sure I save some for those. That will remove any choice I have to drink.

Well done obrigada we’re on the same days

faire yes I agree about spinning around on the ice. We’re taking corners on just two wheels with isinde behind the wheel.

Hello mama any attempt to drink less is good.

why you’re amazing. I’m sorry I can’t give you my spare room. I would without hesitation if I lived anywhere near you.

Jealous ma that you can drink one glass. I’ve tried that for about 20 years and finally realise that I can’t. I’m a bit slow.

Day 7 here. Feeling fine. I won’t drink today. Good luck everyone.
xxx

dementedma · 07/11/2013 21:19

Looking good purps. You didn't see mouse in there did you?
What a fucker about the car! Ouch.
Will anyone family wise help with the cost? Our local garage is very good at letting us pay big bills in two instalments. Can u negotiate this?
Christmas in NEVER cancelled. Father C.can use the bus to get to you
Now, how old are the dcs and what do you need?

beachestoexplore · 07/11/2013 21:27

Wow, it is strict in here tonight. Looks at the line of babes tucked up in bed with their pyjamas on Grin. Glances nervously at Sargent major 'Nuff and scary dicken's Ma

Why sounds like the judge is getting fed up with their antics too. Is there any date/end in sight yet for increased contact?

Well done Rural, day 1 is often a bugger.

Im hope ex has gone and you are snuggled up in bed too.

this you are doing great. My resolve feels pretty weak tonight but fighting the thoughts.

Hope all you other babes are safe and well xx

Fairenuff · 07/11/2013 21:27

< sneaks a green opal fruit to spanna >

Lovely to see lots of privates emerging on the bus Smile

Purps bugger about the car. Any chance ex will chip in, as the dcs need transport?

Ma one glass at a time will do it. How were the stars? If you are getting started on Christmas already you'd better start tuning up joey's triangle, she's in charge of carols.

(Why does that phrase sound smutty too Confused - must be my filthy mind Grin)

PurpleWolfe · 07/11/2013 21:28

Thank you, too, Beaches and Joey for your lovely comments re: Bushcraft day. Not many thing make me feel proud of myself these day. Your thoughts are much appreciated.

Ma I went through Halfords as the local wallers had let me down badly a year ago. Halfords won't take instalments. I had the money in the bank (unusual!) but had been squireling it away for Christmas for presents for DC. XP has offered to help out with the cost but it doesn't feel quite right as it's not really his problem. A moral dilemma.

BABY Where are you?? I have a very fetching Swiss milk-maid outfit wot I found in the dressing up box that I thought would suit you down to the ground!! Come on, you know you want to.........!

PurpleWolfe · 07/11/2013 21:29

X post Faire - I'm torn!

Fairenuff · 07/11/2013 21:31

'Nuff is tough stuff beaches Grin

beachestoexplore · 07/11/2013 21:34

Purple glad you escaped the box unscathed Smile (well save a ridiculously ginormous car bill)

Soc that sounds like a good attitude for Christmas, such a time of over indulgence in all things usually so I need to get my head ready.

Off now, night babes x

Fairenuff · 07/11/2013 21:34

If he's offered, I would accept because it is for the benefit of the children, not just you Purple. You can always pay it back a little at a time if you prefer?

Bagsy not wearing the goat costume.

dementedma · 07/11/2013 21:38

Stars are this weekend nuffbit think weather will be shite.
There is no way on Gods earth I am going near joeys triangle. Look what happened when ladame rummaged in her vegetable patch. We don't want a repeat of that, thank you very much! Where is that daft French tart anyway?
Another one in bed and readuy for tuck in....
