Feeling invisible .....wave at a mate!

Reprint · 22/10/2013 20:31

Following on from Trish's good idea (and by request) this thread is the place to play 'bag a buddy' 'wave at a mate' or 'grab someone else's grip for a minute'

The original idea from the invisble thread was that it would be a brilliant idea if people had a friend they could pair up with ....just so someone is going to wave at you when you feel down.
It needed a thread.
This is it .....................

Harold i'm amazed your mates found their cervixes, i'd be too squeamish. Top friends you have!

Invisible, why did he do that? He sounds like my stepmum Hmm

We don't know Harold. I was really upset on Sunday, now we are laughing at him. He is going to have a job having any sort of relationship with my boys from now on.

I've made a couple of Christmas cakes and we shall make mince pies like we usually do. DS2's birthday is Christmas Eve, I always make him a chocolate fudge cake. DS1 said he wants me to have a rest and doesn't want me in the kitchen all day.

We'll be fine. We'll have a nice day. They're really good lads.

IamInvisisble · 23/10/2013 23:30

He, also, told DH he bailed me out of a credit card that I ran up with no thought to the consequences. I have never had a credit card of my own. DH and I didn't have a credit card until about 6 months ago, and that has a £250 limit on it. We buy one tank of fuel on it a month, then pay it off. We've only got it to build up a credit history.

We are completely bemused. Silly old fool, I said to DH he needs some sort of mental health assessment!

I've seen 'us' about tonight too!

Grennie · 23/10/2013 23:55

I am seriously thrilled that women who said they felt invisible, I now see posting in lots of threads.

But where is Doris?

Doris doesnt seem to have turned up yet. Nor have a few others. Though I have noticed that some posters disappear for dayson end [maybe for work reasons] and then reappear. Hope that is the reason.

If this is a quiche, I hope it always remains an open one, if that makes sense. With waving at buddies when appropriate.

I rather hope we are not a quiche, but have a feeling that it takes no time at all for a bunch of friendly chatty people to appear that way. All it takes are the first couple of jokes and an exchange of banter, and suddenly it can look off-putting because everyone seems to know everyone. Sadly, I am not sure there is a solution - but we have tried.
I am just crossing fingers that - at the very least - buddies did think to exchange the basic PM's

The biggest surprise for me has been understanding how very differently MN is utilised. I truly had no idea that "I'm On" wasn't the first port of call for everyone..... and do feel a bit foolish, for that reason.

The AF issue is likely to have blanketed a lot last night. The posting was very aggressive (not unexpectedly) so enough to scare off anyone not robust. I hope we will see a few faces pop back once things quieten down.

Morning Brew anyone ?
(especially harold - if you are still minus teabags!)

Hi Brew

trish5000 · 24/10/2013 07:28

Reprint. Good point that some people may not have been on last night when everything got very heated. Hadnt thought of that.
Not exactly calm was it?

I have been on here, or lurking for about 2 years. I remember once when things were getting heated, so I started posting on the nobdies threads. It was calm in there. It was like being in an oasis in a storm [not sure if I have got my words quite right there! Hmm]

I hope this place is calming. I think so.

LetsFaceTheMusicAndDance · 24/10/2013 07:30

How's your scrumptious new baby? How's mum?

Morning!

trish5000 · 24/10/2013 07:36

I'm still missing cheapskate Sad

Perhaps its time to start thinking about where this waveyness should have a permanent home?
It really won't take long to run up to 1000 posts, at the rate its been going, so we will have the freedom to choose .....and if there is an optimum spot to attract shy people, I think that is where we need to be.......but personally have no clue where that might be. A recap on the OP (with a link to here) should cover any explanation needed, wherever we go?
