how can I convince dh that condoms are the way to go - or is there a compromise?

I'm hoping someone will be able to help me - have changed my name just in case dh decides to have a quick look at what I've been posting on Shock

basically, dh and I love each other very much. Due to medical reasons, I cannot tolerate any hormonal contraception and cannot do any of the non-hormonal ones you insert (copper coil, diaphragm) due to a weird shaped cervix and uterus.

This has left us using the withdrawal method but it has so put me off having sex because I really do not want to get pregnant. For me, sex is the bees knees of all stuff we do together - dh is quite happy to do all sorts of other stuff but for me, I don't mind the other stuff but would always want sex at the end.

This is now causing problems because I am starting to completely lose interest because I feel I'm not getting what I need and he is getting annoyed because he feels I'm not 100% into what we're doing (I'm not!). If he would wear a condom for sex, we could do it properly and I would happily partake in all the other stuff because I know we would end up having sex at the end.

But he won't - because he hates them Sad. So either he wears one and he doesn't enjoy it or we do withdrawal and I don't enjoy it and worry that I'm going to fall pregnant. Heeeeeeeeelp!!

on the charge sheet I mean not on the Black Satin Sheets Grin
yes, prostitutes are normal women. with kids, lots of them. Shocker, eh?

motherinferior · 07/06/2006 15:07

I actually don't think I've met lots of prostitutes, Annimac. And the only women I finally - after several years - realised were prostitutes were rather sad-looking women round King's Cross. Who didn't dress like me. I reveal a damn sight more norkage, for one thing.

oliveoil · 07/06/2006 15:08

I think the Shock was all done sarcastically anyway wasn't it?

Was from me.

But I don't do sex threads.

motherinferior · 07/06/2006 15:08

Or members of the Wossname Prostitutes' Collective who are all quite scary and I don't think work as prostitutes much in reality in any case.

Or use apostrophes come to that.

The up and coming area of Leith where I live used to be a tolerance zone.

Drive to ASDA the Jewel at night, see prossies on the way home, plying their trade.

I always felt for them, it's cold in Edinburgh a lot of times, but they'd be out in miniskirts w/no tights. Brrrrr!

It's all moved to Lothian Road now.

now using oils is very bad for condoms when they're petroleum-based.

so go w/the olive oil when you're in a pinch.

pouch of douglas, anyone?

I didn't realise either - but partly because most of the ones I've bought in the past were pre-lubed on the inside. Having said that, I've looked in detail now at what I bought and I think the ones I was using before were more akin to thick plastic bags that some of the new type condoms that are about!

I never knew they were made in so many different shapes Shock let alone different sizes!

I looked at condoms to check the size and the largest i could find was 56 mm i believe does anyone know of any bigger ones?

adozenroses · 08/06/2006 14:44

Just read through this thread and I know how you feel over dh. My dh protests over condom usage, but I won't take any chances.

I have actually been to doctors this morning over another problem and I asked her about sterilisation. She said it was ultimately my decision and was reffering me to the clinic. It is a normal procedure, according to the doctor so if it is something you want, be firm with your doctor!!!
