Ikea makes me cry

NotQuiteCockney · 28/05/2006 19:06

I hate visiting Ikea, it is Hell. DH gets cranky about any extra purchases, as he feels I am being suckered into buying all sorts of crap. I probably am being suckered.

But I quite like putting together flat pack furniture.

cod · 28/05/2006 19:06

why is it that Bank Holiday weekends end up with most families spending ghe weekend doing DIY? We avoid places like Ikea and B&Q cos everyone looks murderous in there this time of year

I will only go on my own

FrannyandZooey · 28/05/2006 19:07

Ah we quite like Ikea, even managed to remain good humoured through dp's sudden revelation that nothing we had bought would fit in the car and we would have to return tomorrow with van.

Even laughed oh so merrily when he went mad on the way home and headed over the Dartford Crossing in completely the wrong direction.

It was today when he had to assemble the fuckers that it all went wrong Angry

FrannyandZooey · 28/05/2006 19:07

NQC, will you marry me?

Ikea makes me angry, I hate it!!!! I mostly hate being forced into a one way system with all the other sheep. DH loves it and takes DS there for fun....eh!!!

cod · 28/05/2006 19:08

BagelBird · 28/05/2006 19:09

I don’t like their hot dogs. DH does. I want to go home and make a decent meal, DH wants to indulge (him) the kids with junk food. We fight. Go home in a huff after spending too much cash on stupid green fake grass cushions and a lamp that burns your eyes if you look near it.
I hate Ikea

FrannyandZooey · 28/05/2006 19:10

They have fake grass cushions? Cool. When can we go again?

misdee · 28/05/2006 19:11

intergalacticwalrus · 28/05/2006 19:12

Cod, I agree that the Bristol one is shite. There's never anywhere to park

Twiglett · 28/05/2006 19:12

I particularly hate their short-cuts

This way for a short-cut to total frustration

motherinferior · 28/05/2006 19:12

Unmarried couples too.

It's like the supermarket, magnified horrifically.

franke · 28/05/2006 19:12

Ikea has done more to strengthen our relationship through the bad times than anything. We stand united against a common enemy. If there is ever the slightest hint that this may not be the case, I remind dh of the 1 € hotdogs the other side of the cash desk (and I mean CASH desk, Ikea Germany does not take credit cards Shock) and everything comes up stinking of roses again.

misdee · 28/05/2006 19:13

i got told i wasnt allowed to take a trolly upstairs and to use their yellow bags, i looked at the man without saying a word and carried on. he was a bit peeved lol.

nutcracker · 28/05/2006 19:14

I went to the wednsbury one the other day, with Xp too.
Went for a tv unit which was out of stock. Brought 2 bowls and some ice lolly things.

Whilst waiting for Xp to get hotdogs, Ds tips the buggy up, smashing the bowls, so all I came home with was ice lolly things and a t'shirt covered in ketchup.
