Any ideas? as I can't find one??

No - but there are lots of dads who post!

blueamema · 16/05/2006 22:07

How do you know if they are dad's ???

WigWamBam · 16/05/2006 22:10

Same way as you know the mums are mums ... you have to take their word for it. Some have gone to meet-ups, some are married to some of the mums here ... if you suspect everyone of being a hairy-handed trucker there would be no point in being here.

JoolsToo · 16/05/2006 22:13

are you a dad?

lou33 · 16/05/2006 22:14

oh i dunno wwb, some of us might quite like the idea

Ledodgyherring · 16/05/2006 22:15

I think blueamema means how do you know which posters are dads as in how can you tell which are the dads that post. The only way to do this is to read the posts as some have obvious dad names like happydaddy but some are less obvious. There's no comprehensive list of dads. A dad topic would probably be a good idea actually.

CarlK · 16/05/2006 22:17

no dad section we just but in all over

TambaTheDragonSlayer · 16/05/2006 22:17

And very welcome you are too Smile

blueamema · 16/05/2006 22:26

I'm sorry to break your hearts.... but i'm a mum....or at least I was last time I looked!!

My husband has just fallen over because everyone now thinks i'm a bloke!!

We were just wondering whether there was somewhere he could look.

LOL Smile

blueamema me and my dp have also looked every where for a place like mumsnet but for dads, my dp has joined mumsnet but just doesnt feel comftable or wants to talk to women he wants to talk to blokes!!
our ds is nearly 5 and is Autistic so he would really like to talk to dads of other special needs children.
maybe as you said if there was topics just for dads some where that they could go to on here??

CarlK · 17/05/2006 08:15

Problem is as I see there aint enough of us here
to keep a dads section running.I could be wrong tho there may be loads lurking
There are dad sites in other places but I havent heard much good said about them.

CarlK · 17/05/2006 08:20

besides we'd never stop the wimmin butting in if we had our own bit {wink]

HellKat · 17/05/2006 08:36

Lol!!!
My dp sneakily posts now & then under my name. Shame there are'nt more dads on here. I'll have to get him posting more under his name. maybe if the "lurker" dads see more posts from dads, they'll join in.
Lets hope so.

Molton · 17/05/2006 09:31

Why not ask MNtowers to start a dad section on talk (not sure how this is done) and see what the takeup is. Clearly anyone can post on it but the threads may be more geared towards blokes.

Speaking as someone who values the male perspective (when it's not leaving the toilet seat up) I reckon this would be good

blueamema · 17/05/2006 09:45

carlK .... there would have to be some secret code to a blokes section.... as I know I would definately be reading what the blokes are threading and as you say 'butting in' !!!
LOL

dh is about to become a sahd for a while. since dd was born he complains that a lot of male parening sites are awfull much in the fathers4justice mold.

i think he posts on the OU parenting conf. but think he is the only male there
i know he would like to chat to other dads of the non loony varietyGrin

Molton · 17/05/2006 10:25

Have emailed the MNet team....

Rhubarb · 17/05/2006 10:33

There used to be a dads site called Fathers Direct but I just looked for it and it's not there now, they had discussion boards too. The founder was called Tom and he used to come on here quite a bit.

hub2dee · 17/05/2006 10:57

The other dads sites are (or at least were when I looked a year or so ago) fairly pants.

Get your dhs / dps to think of a name, possibly with a hint of testosterone, and post away.

If your dh, Redbull, wanted to discuss stuff with other SN dads, I'm sure a post would be able to solicit input from the men-folk related to the female inhabitants of the SN board IYSWIM !

HTH.

PS - hub2dee. Geddit ? Smile

blueamema · 17/05/2006 11:02

hub2dee (and other users).... totally unrelated (but new to this site), where can I get to learn all these abbreviations that you all use???

It's like a different language!!

Acronym list - in "useful stuff" section at top of this page.

redbull · 17/05/2006 11:22

maybe we should post a note on the site stuff threads and get people to say they want one for dads.
Bagsy not starting itGrin!!!!

hub2dee · 17/05/2006 11:51

You'll pick it all up fairly fast, I'm sure.

If you want to get to know a few names, post a message in Member Profiles and say hello !

Molton · 17/05/2006 12:49

Abby from MNHQ emailed me back. Is not sure there are sufficient dads to warrant a section - but they'll discuss it at their next team meeting

blueamema · 17/05/2006 13:14

Thanks found them....just have to try and remember them now!

Thanks MOLTON for contacting MNHQ.
I will get DH to sign up tonight so that will be one more Dad to chat.
