Songs to recover from a breakup!!

Ok ladies doing a playlist on my new phone and thought what songs have become significant over the last year get me through the breakup and came up with the following;

  1. Broken Strings ( James Morrison/Nellie Furtado) At the beginning
  2. You Outta Know ( Alanis Morrisette) When I found out about OW
  3. I Dreamed a Dream ( Anne Hathaway Les Mis; I went to see the film and this song made me howl!!)
  4. If I had a Heart (Andy Burrows)

OK now I feel its time to move to the next phase in the 7 (ie; Shock, denial, anger, isolation, bargaining, depression and acceptance ;albeit with a few wallows back in the previous phases on a bad day)

So, suggestions for Phase 7 please!! and what songs were significant for you in the phases.

A slight departure in genre from most of the other suggestions here but this is what I listened to during my last breakup.

Ce'Cile - Nah Stress Over Man

Alaine - Up

Konshens - Simple Song

Hope they help or at least cheer you up!

Yes to Jar of Hearts and Somebody that I Used to Know.

Also:
Beyonce, If I were a boy; and Bob Dylan, Positively 4th Street,

' I wish that for just one time, you could stand inside my shoes
You'd know what a drag it is to see you...'

bestsonever · 12/04/2013 18:46

lol, I remember a good one from the 90's - the Prodigy ' No Good' - gets you in a fighting back mood ;-)

Fairylea · 12/04/2013 18:53

Actually most script songs... I think I lived my whole relationship through their first album, went through a bad break up on their second (which I ended up buying 4 copies of as it kept getting scratched I played it in the car so much) and now I'm out the other side their 3rd album is more uplifting ! I think he must have been going through things in a similar fashion to me!

AnimatedDad · 12/04/2013 18:58

try Tim Minchin's "If I didn't have you... " The funniest love song I've ever heard! Really - I'd recommend it to anyone who needs to get over a relationship:

sar1133 · 12/04/2013 18:59
