How often do you do the hoovering?

And does your DH ever do it?

He does it when we clean up together at the weekend. I do it during the week as he doesn't get home from work till the kids are in bed. I hoover every other day generally.

HECTheHallsWithRowsAndFolly · 07/12/2012 11:01

He always does it. Normally about 3 times a week. Pulls all the furniture out and everything!

He's away at the moment, so I have to do it. It's been done about once a week and am I buggery pulling out the furniture Grin

TwasTheDawnDeeforeXmas · 07/12/2012 11:01

Most days as DD is crawling and is a little human hoover herself (will eat ANYTHING off the floor). I do most of it as I'm at home on maternity leave but DH certainly does his share when he's at home.

Why are you asking? I'm assuming your DH doesn't/won't?

hellhasnofurylikeahungrywoman · 07/12/2012 11:02

If I'm home and he's not I do it, if he's home and I'm not he does it, if we're both home one of us does it (usually me) while the other cleans the kitchen (usually him).

LeMousquetaireAnonyme · 07/12/2012 11:03

At least once a week in the bedroom and at least twice in the living parts. DH about once a year or when the girls spill something and I am not here. He doesn't mind doing it but I have to ask as his "dirt threshold" is way higher than mine.

Pochemuchka · 07/12/2012 11:03

Probably about 3 x a week and depending on how much mess the DC have made.

If I waited for him to do it I'd be waiting a long time.

Every few days, DP will do it maybe once a month and then I go and do it again because he doesn't do it properly. He tried that trick with the washing up too but I let him eat off his minging plates and he learnt to do it properly next time.

oldwomaninashoe · 07/12/2012 11:07

I is the one household task I can really rely on DH to do. No good at dusting and tidying but does all the hoovering in our house.

shoppingtrolley · 07/12/2012 11:09

I asked because I am at home on maternity leave and finding myself doing it all the time. Left to his own devices DH would do it in a rush once a week. I'm not unhappy with him particularly, just wanted to know if I was being neurotic about dirt!

Depends how old your LO is I think! Before my DD was crawling everywhere I probably hoovered twice a week?

Have started doing it more since August when a) she started crawling and b) August is spider season and someone told me regular hoovering helps keeps the leggy bastards away!

shoppingtrolley · 07/12/2012 11:12

My LO is still a basket baby, so at present unrelated to the hoovering!

Don't have a DH but I'm a bit OCD about housework so nearly every day.

TwasTheDawnDeeforeXmas · 07/12/2012 11:14

Ah....I'd lay off a bit then tbh but i am a lazy slattern given the opportunity

BertieBotts · 07/12/2012 11:15

I would do it once a week if I didn't have a 4 year old who has a magical ability to spread crumbs and glitter EVERYWHERE.

noisytoys · 07/12/2012 11:16

I do it every day. I don't think DH even knows we own a Hoover Grin

GetorfsaMotherfuckingMorrisMan · 07/12/2012 11:17

Whole house every day, bloody dusty house.

Sometimes I sweep through like a Victorian parlour maid (wooden floors, no carpets or rugs).

DD and I take it in turns. We both hate it.

bellarose2011 · 07/12/2012 11:22

Downstairs everyday, upstairs once a week.
Before i had kids i would hoover maybe 2/3 times a week.
For the 6 years i was with my ex he hoovered about 5 times!!

AbigailAdams · 07/12/2012 11:22

Yes he does do it but we both do it as little as possible.

However, my slatternly housework bears no relation to your happiness at dirt levels. You are perfectly entitled to want a clean house. You are basically saying that you don't think your DH is pulling his weight. And this is a problem. A problem that has probably only become apparent because you are on maternity leave?

clarelou13 · 07/12/2012 11:23

I hoover every other day downstairs and every couple of weeks upstairs. I personally hate it when DH does the vacuuming, not because hes crap at it but because he is totally OTT with it! Vacuums everything! If he could find a hoover that he could strap to his back, he'd be in his element. Although, after his mammoth hoovering sessions I usually find myself vacuuming the carpets, which he generally misses!

TheNightwearBeforeChristmas · 07/12/2012 11:27

I hoover every 2 days. When DS2 starts crawling, it will be everyday.

DH has hoovered about 3 times in 18 months. He does other stuff around the house.

Why are you asking?

BarryShitpeas · 07/12/2012 11:36

Every day.

Small flat, lots of people.

I like to do it cos it makes me tidy up first.

At the weekend we take turns (hoovering is seen as a treat by asd ds).

Never... :) I pay a cleaner.

FrostyTheShosheman · 07/12/2012 11:58

Every day, and it depends who is at home, term time DH more than me, holidays me more than him.
