Haven't heard from SurreyGirl for a few days. We both said it wasn't going to work, I'm not surprised. I could send her another witty and charming mail and ask if she's free this weekend but whats the point really?

OhWesternWind · 09/11/2012 16:06

Yes, my fault, forgot to specify that the date(s) should actually be with someone promising!

I was joking about your profile Smile.

Yay for Miss Venezuela, hmm for GPG.

mercury7 · 09/11/2012 16:11

Bantam, !!! is offputting, ??? is more alarming though! (oops..i used the '!' to emphasize my alarm there)

OhWesternWind · 09/11/2012 16:13

But what about ??!!?!?!? ?

KirstyWirsty · 09/11/2012 16:14

I now have 4 dates next week!!!

Scubaguy on Tuesday
Surgeon on Wednesday
Lecturer in tv production on Thursday
Engineer (not yoga's one though) on Friday

I'm not sure I have time for this malarkey as would like to get to the gym at some point!!

KirstyWirsty · 09/11/2012 16:15

I am now self conscious about my exclamation marks Hmm

OhWesternWind · 09/11/2012 16:18

That was five in one post, Kirsty - you're on shaky ground there. You are going to be all dated out by the end of the week but hope you find a good one (or two) in with all that lot. Who's most promising at the moment?

mercury7 · 09/11/2012 16:19

??!!?!??!!-?
Erm, is morse code surely?

KirstyWirsty · 09/11/2012 16:20

The engineer .. Although he is the oldest he has a twinkle in his eye from his photo and looks pretty fit

bantamrooster · 09/11/2012 16:23

Just got another email from her, she wants to meet! On Sunday! For coffee! And there were five sentences in her email and everyone had an exclamation mark!

But if I've asked her out for coffee, because she does look nice, maybe it's just one of those things that irritate you a bit about someone where you wouldn't even know about it if you met in a bar and fancied the pants off them and there was a spark, then 2 weeks later when you're mad about them you realise they're not particularly good at grammar in emails but it's okay because they're gorgeous...

Online dating causes you to judge on superficial things which really don't matter much. I almost discarded someones profile earlier because they like RnB. I don't like RnB, but really, is it that important? I've got to stop doing that.

however the fact that she said she's in Cambridge and actually she's almost an hours drive north, that's more of a dealbreaker.

mercury7 · 09/11/2012 16:24

i think its important to ration them, or you may punctuate yourself into a sate of hysteria :o

or try to use them mostly in an ironic way

MadameOvary · 09/11/2012 16:31

Does anyone else in one of them R things have nothing much to say about it? eg when friends ask about the NM?
I found that this time round everything was strangely calm and drama-free. We only text once or twice a day too. In contrast to previous shit relationships with lots of "episodes", stress, highs and lows and tearful phone calls to friends, this is just nice. Not nice in a dull way but nice in a "Goodness, I seem to be in a relationship with an adult. How novel."

bantamrooster · 09/11/2012 16:36

oh actually she's even further north than that. She says she marked herself down as being in the wrong place to keep away the weirdos. I don't understand that at all. Surely putting yourself down as living in a different place means:

  1. you won't get found by people close to you who are actually nice
  2. You'll get contacted by people miles away, then dropped when they realise how far away you are
  3. Even if not for the distance, I'm wondering what else she's fibbing about.

Ah well, I'd have met for coffee if she was within half an hour of me. I'm not driving for 90 minutes only to realise she speaks like she writes.

Yogagirl17 · 09/11/2012 16:56

So is that you back down to 1 date this weekend Bantam?

Kirsty - my goodness, 4 dates in a week???!!?
(And someone said they thought I had dating stamina)

I know I should probably arrange to meet gingerbread man as well but I really can't be bothered to invest any energy til I know if I like the Engineer. i've also had a couple of messages on OKC from decent enough guys except they both live in Edinburgh. not doing that again.

Can really offer an y insight into the R thing

watchoutforthatsnail · 09/11/2012 17:20

bant - where the devil are you? cambridge is also about an hours drive north from me!!!!!
( but i do like !!!! and :) )

sponge - did you hear anything today?

snape - cant believe its 2 weeks already. time flies.

so many men at work. not used to it. looks of oggling at innapropiatley young men .
loving it though, even if my feet are not.
two house viewings over the weekend now too :)
!!!!!!!!!!!

smoothieooo · 09/11/2012 17:20

I need to cut down the amount of exclamation marks I use when texting. Apparently it's as bad as using caps in that it looks at bit shouty.

Meeting Cambridge man for a pub lunch on Sunday, somewhere near Liverpool Street. Is it odd that we haven't yet spoken and I have one, slightly grainy picture to go on?

First date in 17 years and guess who is babysitting? STBEx-H Grin - he thinks I'm seeing the first cut of a film my friend is working on. I never knew I could lie so convincingly (some of ex's ways must have rubbed off on me)...

raskolnikov · 09/11/2012 17:42

Madame O - yes my situation is unusually relaxed, easy going and pleasant. No pressure re days and times, take each day as it comes, no frantic texting/sexting - and he's affectionate (still not really used to that) and extremely funny - we do have some very silly conversations indeed. He also remembered when my birthday is (only mentioned once very early on) and just about all of those characteristics are the polar opposite of my XH.

Yogagirl17 · 09/11/2012 17:43

So are :) & ;) as bad as ??!!!?!! ? And how much is too much?

KirstyWirsty · 09/11/2012 17:57

Please please let smilies be ok? I love them as much as exclamation marks Grin

ParsleyTheLioness · 09/11/2012 18:24

Rask where did you meet yours then? Feel like I'm the only one over 50 sometimes....

FateLovesTheFearless · 09/11/2012 18:49

Bant - music taste is important to me Grin if someone was into junkie music (my name for it) they can take a flying jump! Would do my head in having to listen to that rubbish in any shape or form. Have to admit there is many brownie points awarded for someone having similar music tastes to me. Superficial...who me?

Snape you are right actually, I was dooming things, I am bloody awful for doing that Blush just because I am a hard ass don't you know, and I leave before I get left Wink books a million counselling sessions all good with NL, doing the relationship thing and I am cool with that. Should also take into consideration it's that time of the month, always makes me negative and stressy. Onwards and upwards Grin

FateLovesTheFearless · 09/11/2012 18:50

Smiles and exclamation marks are fine in my book, rather them than the horror known as txt spk. Urgh Angry

Yogagirl17 · 09/11/2012 18:56

I like smilies too :)

Snape can't believe it's been two whole weeks. Well done

MadameOvary · 09/11/2012 19:16

FateLovesTheFearless · 09/11/2012 19:20
