Yep Snape, what Watch says, go for it, have some fun Smile

Lueji · 23/08/2012 16:47

TBH, PM seems more like an addiction that you should get rid of.

He's not really a friend, nor a boyfriend.

I was going to say screw PM, but I think you should rather Prof. Wink

watchoutforthatsnail · 23/08/2012 16:51

You really should :)

Again, It's only a second date, not a marriage... One more date doesn't mean you are committing to anythihg....
Don't over think, just go for it :)

Sponge. I have equal appalling experiences as you when it comes to on line dating. I consider myself reasonably attractive bar first thing in the morning, clever, emotionally ok, good conversationalist etc. yet I meet people and get messages from people who only want to have sex. That's it. No more. It's frustrating. It's good not to be alone though, that's for sure. I hope things pick up for us.

hatesponge · 23/08/2012 16:55

I agree you should go for it :)

Keep thinking about this Mr O thing. But I honestly don't see I've done anything wrong, Other than fail to behave in accordance with his ridiculous expectations. Checking messages more than 24 hrs of a date isn't wrong surely? I hadn't been on there since Sunday when we arranged the date, this was Wednesday.

MyLittleMiracles · 23/08/2012 17:01

snape go for it and if you don't we will all bully gently persuade you into it. Sod PM go out and have some sex fun, you deserve it!!!

TimeForMeAndDD · 23/08/2012 17:12

Sponge if he was so keen to bag you then he should have made more of an effort after the date. It's his fault you had the time and the inclination to have a peek at the dating site, if he had been in touch and arranged another date you more than likely wouldn't have gone near it. If he is annoyed with you then tough, he brought it all on himself. Now stop thinking about him and get right back on that dating site and let him see you there and find yourself another date. And if this was me, I would be adding a bit to my profile that states 'one date does not a relationship make and until we have had The Talk regarding exclusivity and mutually agreed that we would like to continue seeing each other, then I shall continue to peruse dating sites, so please refrain from showing your possessive streak by sending vile and abusive messages.' And hope MrO sees it Wink

Scattylatte · 23/08/2012 17:23

Time. Hear hear!!
Sponge. I went out with a man who I think is/was similar to mr O. And it nearly fucked my head in. I got sucked in by the kissing, sex etc and him telling me how great I was until I thought we had something going. However his contact was sporadic, cold and he didn't make plans. Two weeks, maybe 3 into seeing him still no proper plans apart from an odd date. Usual excuse he was busy with work. So I logged into the dating site to check some messages as he had been less than communicative. He must have been on it as well or getting alerts as he sent a text saying don't give up on me yet, really busy with work. Ok, have him the benefit of the doubt. Then we had a phone conversation later that week, chatted etc. I left the convo feeling upbeat The next morning he text me 'I'm walking away from this relationship now as you are so negative'. I was really upset!
We carried on seeing each other after that but in his head he had little tests for me to prove my love etc. I never passed any. All my fault.
I wished I had done what you did and got out at the beginning. I think he will be in touch. Explain nothing.

Scattylatte · 23/08/2012 17:24

When is the next date Snape?

NicholasTeakozy · 23/08/2012 17:33

Sponge, I am not too kind, just honest. It was what I saw in the photos and profile that made me write as I did.

Snape, go and ride him like Seabiscuit. You know it makes sense. :o

Thank you Lueji, what a lovely thing to say.

snapespeare · 23/08/2012 17:39

I just texted the prof with 'yes'. I think thats suitably obtuse.

Sponge, on phone, so can't get across what I want to (& waiting for response to text...) but you are worth SO much more than that fucking dickweed will ever deserve. :)

TimeForMeAndDD · 23/08/2012 17:53

Grin We can tell you are excited Snape. I can't quite believe the direction the honey trap is taking!! But I am very pleased for you, it's fab! Smile

Llareggub · 23/08/2012 17:56

Huge apologies for not reading all the way back, but I wanted t join in if that's OK? I have started online dating after a slooooooooow start on G'S, where I think everyone is either blatantly not paying subs or just not that into me. I've recently joined POF where I have been very selective about who I message.

I had a mad 2 week thing with someone from there who I suspect to be just after sex, and having extricated myself from that I now have a date with a very nice bloke tonight. We've chatted very successfully on the phone a few times, have texted each other and gone as far as Facebook. I am not investing too much into it though.

I guess what I am finding surprising is the difference between dating today and dating in my 20s, where basically I wouldnt have dreamt of using the word "date" or even the concept of exclusivity. In many ways it seems so much more complicated and I am deeply unsure of the rules.

I don't like POF but I am messaging a few decent sounding men but I think if they fizzle out to nothing I may look elsewhere. Do you have any recommendations?

TimeForMeAndDD · 23/08/2012 18:00

Welcome to the mad house Llareggub Smile have you had a look at OKCupid? It's a free site and seems to carry a much more select clientèle than POF, quite a few people have had success from Cupid. Our very own Snape has just snared herself a very lovely man! I hope your date tonight goes well Smile

ChaoticismyLife · 23/08/2012 18:03

sponge you've had a lucky escape there.

snape what everyone else said.

ChaoticismyLife · 23/08/2012 18:07

Welcome, Llareggub, very wise not to read all the way back considering we're on thread 20 WinkGrin

FateLovesTheFearless · 23/08/2012 18:14

Sponge - fruitcake alert! It was one date and if mr weirdo expects some sort of commitment after one date he is barking. Or reads too many mills and boons. Either way, fuck him. A normal person would just ask what the crack was, not be all passive aggressive. Don't be upset, you aren't a mind reader and just be careful he isn't one of those types that acts all high and mighty just to get you eating out of his hand.

Snape - Prof sounds way better than PM! I bet PM will be nowt but a distant memory soon!

Zany - congratulations! Baby and a wedding! Envy sorry to read mr yacht was a bit of a fibber but glad to here you are getting through it. Onwards and upwards!

Watch - your wedding to be sounds amazing! Outdoors, pretty lights, hog roast! Ticks my boxes!

Hello to everyone else, this thread moves so fast!

MirandaWest · 23/08/2012 18:43

I come away to see my mum and dad and there's a new thread with 370 posts ShockGrin.

watchoutforthatsnail · 23/08/2012 18:48

Fate, I'm not actually getting married :)
I would be insane to do that!!!

OP posts:
snapespeare · 23/08/2012 18:49

The prof has descended into filth. Hmm

I like it. Grin

He thinks its a 'fabulous fling' because I said on OKC that I don't want children & he really wants his own kids. In reality, I would love more kids, but I'm ancient & its way way too early for anything like that conversation.... I still need to casually mention my STD history...

Shall recap properly when I have a proper keyboard. Did I mention he said his favourite film is 'love actually'? That's got to be a line, right? Hmm

FateLovesTheFearless · 23/08/2012 18:54

Course you are watch! The dating thread has spoken! Grin

Marriage only sucks when it's to the wrong person!

watchoutforthatsnail · 23/08/2012 19:00

Mrl might be the wrong person!!
:)

Snape, yes, please...tell all.
I'm a sucker for some Richard Curtis.. the prof rocks, thats my verdict

OP posts:
ChaoticismyLife · 23/08/2012 19:01
