Would I be a crazy stalker or does this sound normal?

I was in the bank last week sorting out some things which meant I had to come in on two consecutive days to see the same lad who works there.

He is my age. (early twenties)

Anyway, we seemed to hit it off quite well. I ended up finding out lots about him but I can't work out if he was just doing his job and being nice to his customers or actually having a really good conversation with me.

I found out where he lives
what he drives
what he used to drive
what uni he went to/what he did there
his holidays
his football team
what he did the evening before
where he goes out and how often
how he gets to work
whether he enjoys his job
the crap parts of his job
whether he socialises with any colleagues
what hes doing at the weekend
what hes planning to do in the future
that hes learning a new language
where he eats lunch
about his awful customers
his old job
where he grew up
his previous relationship ended
where he went to school/college
etc etc

He was comfortable enough to whip his phone out quickly to check an update on BBC sport that we were talking about!

At the end he joked that he would message me if I was right about my football prediction but obviously that would go against Data Protection Act etc so wouldn't expect him to! (I'd never do that to any of my patients as I'd lose my job and I'm sure would be the same in his situation)

Surely he wouldn't divulge so much about his customers/ job issues with everyone!

So, would it be really weird to message him on FB about our cheeky joke with the football? Bearing in mind, he gave me his work card with his name on so he was easy to find... or am I a stalker?

He was so lovely, normal and someone I'd love to spend more time with!

He will conclude, rightly, that you have been thinking about him today and sent him a message before going to bed.

[Agree, oh to be 23 again!]

Yaaaah!! Bloody hell now we have to wait for a response!! Was hoping to get to sleep soon!!! Way too excited now!!

MoaningMingeWhingesAgain · 21/08/2012 23:58

Many years ago a man I worked with and had a massive crush on asked me if I was going to the work do. I didn't usually go to them.

I wasn't sure if he was asking me out or just being friendly.

After much gnashing of teeth I went to the do and met up with him there. And brought him home with me. We got married 6 years ago.

skyofdiamonds · 22/08/2012 00:01

i PUT. Oargh caps lock all in the wrong order there.

Hey 'name'

jokes about the football
another jokey thing he was saying about drunk customers- compared to a funny story from my job this week
then i put that it was really nice to talk with you and that I hoped he had a nice day off
ended with my name ( no xxxxxxx's as I don't 'do' xx's)

so I bottled it with asking him out properly :o I think that's the bravest thing that I've ever done though (dating wise!)

I don't think he'd reply tonight as is working tomorrow and commutes so must get up pretty early.

I sense this may linger on until tomorrow or maybe longer (please not longer).

I just wanted to quickly mention that a good friend of mine met her DH (of six years now) when he worked at the bank and she was doing the books for work. I very clearly remember her coming back from the bank every afternoon very flushed and excited!

As I said they've been together six years and have two gorgeous DC. It does happen!

JustAnotherLlama · 22/08/2012 00:13

Very brave, bet it pays off for you though, sounds like he's interested! Will be looking out for an update... Dont disappoint us! Wishing you sweet dreams of your banker man tonight.

missymoomoomee · 22/08/2012 00:20

When someone who isn't a 'friend' on FB messages you it goes into the 'others' folder so he may not get the message for a while as that folder doesn't come up on phones and some people rarely check it online. Fingers crossed for you OP. Well done I would never have been able to pluck up the courage.

rollmeover · 22/08/2012 00:30

Aw, thats so nice. You young uns have it so easy with facebook rather than having to ring up!
My MiL and FiL met when he was an apprentice and had to go into the ironmonger where she worked to get stuff for work. I think he went in every day for months buying random stuff before he plucked up the courage for a date! And they have been married for 50 years so you have definately done the right thing!

CuriousMama · 22/08/2012 00:31

Fabulous, that's what FB is for, networking Wink

I bet a friend request is the next thing in the pipeline.

CuriousMama · 22/08/2012 00:31

From him I mean.

Only4theOlympics · 22/08/2012 00:40

I am such a sucker for a bit of romance. I have to know what happened!
