What did people get for valentines day (nice things only)

Just been reading a thread about breakups etc and I thought it might be nice to post nice things about our dp's/dh's. So

1 What did you get for Valentines
2 List some of the things your dh/dp does that makes your life easier

I'll start with mine

1 Two red roses and a book of poems (marked at one he thought most appropriate)

2
Has always done his share of nights with ds

Does all the shopping/cooking plans for the week and about 80% of the cooking

Knows ds's routine as well as I do and loves looking after him

never complains about lack of sleep (unlike me )

Is incredibly supportive about my weight obsession and manages to convey that he finds me sexier now I am losing weight without having ever found me unsexy (not sure how he does it but he does)

Has started doing little bits of DIY round the house for childproofing without me nagging (despite being a really non-practical academic sort)

Is always kind and supportive and non judgemental of whatever I want to do (SAHM vs WOTH etc)

Tells me that he thinks I'm a great mum all the time (despite me having had bad pnd and asking him to take ds away in the early days and to never bring him back )

Looking at this I'm not sure he'd have the same positive list from me - must try harder !!

12 red roses, a beautiful card and a 3 course meal cooked by him last night.

pussycatmomma · 15/02/2006 15:44

A dozen beautiful red roses..........and a very naff card! But the roses made up for it plus champagne and babydancing, we are ttc and we are on day 12! that would be the best valentines day ever if we got lucky just now!

totallyinlove · 15/02/2006 15:58

I didn't get a card but hubby ran me a bath and told me to stay in there for at least 30 minutes! then when I got out he had tidied up everywhere and had filled the bedroom with candles and vases of flowers! we just listened to soppy music most of the night while he gave me a back, leg and feet massage then cuddled up and went to sleep!

When he is at home, I don't have to do anything, especially not with the children. I can't even remember the last time I bathed the kids! He always does it! He would do everything if i let him! He leaves me little notes and always tells me how much he loves me and how gorgeous I am (even though the 'no im not-im a whale' syndrome has kicked in with me now!) He always tells me how much he appreciates what I do, even if i haven't done anything all day!

The past few weeks have been very difficult for us, and then last week his nan died and he turned into a man I hardly knew. But the love of my life has come back now and I love him more than ever

lazycow · 15/02/2006 16:00

so he bought me a tree.

Which I am v pleased with.

And a box ofchics and a pretty bangle.

But he is a wonderful husband all the time (well, most).

Yesterday I received a dozen roses from DH and a box of chocs plus a single rose and chocs 'from the children' with cards from each of them. All very sweet.

Things he does all the time:

Let's me have at least one lie-in at the weekend.

Gets up with DS and takes him to nursery three mornings a week.

Often tells me I'm pretty, a lovely mom, etc, etc.

Works very hard and doesn't begrudge me being a SAHM. In fact, says he loves it that I can be home with the children.

Does his fair share of nappies, bottles, baths (for the most part).

Does the dishes and takes out the rubbish every day.

BonyM · 15/02/2006 17:42

Gorgeous blue topaz heart shaped stud earrings, Green and Blacks chocolates and a card.

Oh, also a bottle of my favourite wine and later in the evening he produced a box of Godiva choccies (my faves!)

BonyM · 15/02/2006 17:44

Oh - missed the 2nd question.

My dh sounds like totallyinlove's dh - maybe I should change my name to totallyinlove2 .

He's fab.

Thell · 15/02/2006 17:56

Mine got me two pots of nice pate!
(to eat when our baby is born (due in 2 wks)

We just moved house a couple of weeks ago, when I was 36 wks preg - he had a really hard time coping with all the work that needed doing and the pressure of trying to provide for his heifer of a wife and baby, but he worked through it and did all the DIY jobs he hates anyway, with very little help available from anyone. Very proud of him

(Then he sent me a bunch of flowers to thank me for putting up with his mood swings - it made me cry!)

After making out that I wasn't bothered, DH came back from the States this morning with a huge tin of Jelly Bellys for me.

He also gave me a small box of chocolates he'd received from his hotel, with a little note attached saying 'to a most outstanding guest, we think you're great!' [barf]

Lasvegas · 16/02/2006 13:19

lovely lingerie (the kind I would I picked myself) am even more appreciative as he went on horrible tube journey across london to get it in his lunch hour.
