Contemplating listening to the muppets soundtrack (not so much fun without DD1 tho..!). So what gives you a little boost when life gets a bit Confused ?!the more bonkers the better!!

My piano :) When life throws me lemons, you'll find me bashing out 'Hey Jude'. Or my ukulele. Actually, it's impossible to play anything on the ukulele and not smile.

Capitaltrixie · 07/05/2012 13:30

hehe ukuele sounds like fun Cogito Smile might take it up! music is a brilliant boost

Dancing around the kitchen to either 'This Charming Man' or 'Last Night' by The Strokes.

Or a nice cup of Earl grey and some biscuits.

HandMini · 07/05/2012 13:33

A hot water bottle, a cup of tea and a good book. Lose yourself.

Capitaltrixie · 07/05/2012 13:36

Ukulele v cheap and easy to get a tune out of. For true uku-topia check out the marvellously cheery making 'Anarchy in the UK' sound like an innocent folk song! All together now...

littlelife · 07/05/2012 14:06

I find it really up-lifting to listen to music which describes how I feel, this morning it's been kings of Leon knocked Up and Cat Power Nude as the News, oh and Cherry Bakewells and earl Grey Tea!

Capitaltrixie · 07/05/2012 14:24

Cogito I love it! that's blimmin fantastic - how could anyone feel glum when watching that?!

OH is going to give me guitar lessons (had one so far & loved it) but temporarily suspended cos we're getting on each others nerves atm till he's less busy. Wow..definitely thinking about a Ukele now though Smile

Like your style littlelife, I find a bit of Seth Lakeman or the Decemberist uplifting when I'm in a folk mood but bit of cheese like Taio Cruz for a mindless bop (no cherry bakewells in the cupboard though boo!)

Agree, Cogito, The Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain are totally fab and currently on tour. They can play everything from Mozart to Nirvana, don't take themselves or their art too seriously and provide a wonderful evening's entertainment. Everyone went home smiling!

WMDinthekitchen · 07/05/2012 15:24

Sorry OP. Getting up and going out of the house gives me an instant lift.

Hot bath, Lush Bubble Bar, a walk & a cream tea. or dancing & singing using the broom as a microphone in the kitchen. The songs du jour in the BOTB household are the Fleetwood Mac Rumours album, Little Red Corvette by Prince, Let's Stay Together by Al Green or Temper Trap.

catgirl1976 · 07/05/2012 15:35

The Jungle Book theme tune always cheers me up
and DS' little grin when I go to pick him up from his crib
Sunshine (if there is any around) is fool proof

DorothyGherkins · 07/05/2012 16:48

If there is no one else around, and I m feeling low and drained, a power sleep! No, not a nap, a sleep! Snuggle under the duvet, two alarm clocks for an hour. If theres no time for a power sleep, then yes to dancing! Or a cup of old fashioned cocoa, made with milk with Green and Blacks organic cocoa, always makes me feel little and loved again!

Flisspaps · 07/05/2012 16:57

A glimpse of DH's bum WinkGrin

butterflyexperience · 07/05/2012 16:59

mrsgboring · 07/05/2012 17:02

Playing guitar for me. Or singing along to music on headphones

Or I eat and am therefore size of a small country Sad

CheerfulYank · 07/05/2012 17:10

I sing really, really terribly loudly.

My morning cup of coffee.

A good nap.

The Casson family books by Hilary McKay. :)

MirandaGoshawk · 07/05/2012 17:21

Cake. Accompanied by tea or coffee. But mainly, cake. Smile

JugglingWithTangentialOranges · 07/05/2012 17:41

I'm with WMD - when I'm down I'm usually stir crazy too and bundling the DCs out to the park usually works wonders especially with a cappuccino in the cafe - was loving the flowers there, even in the drizzle on Sunday - when I was having a fowl day.
On Sunday we even had Tuscan bean soup and toasties there it really was that bad Grin

Cake (or chocolate) works well too Miranda, but it has to be with a Brew or a Wine

SweetestThing · 07/05/2012 18:25

Butterscotch and pecan yum-yum from Waitrose does it every time Grin.

LIttleMcF · 07/05/2012 18:30

Soreen with cold butter
'I Know It' by a vv early Madonna
A wander into the greenhouse
DH being around (lovely lovely Bank hols)
A Crunchie from the fridge (or anywhere, I'm not fussy)
A spritz of perfume - something Jo Malone-y or eau d'hadrien by Annick Goutal

rowingboat · 07/05/2012 18:42

Putting on the radio to clean the kitchen - takes a bit of the drudgery out of it!
Watching Bargain Hunt whilst I eat lunch
Cleansing my face at the end of the day - quite sad really, but I love the feeling, oh and putting on serum for night, it just feels nice and indulgent.

MissBetsyTrotwood · 07/05/2012 18:46

Sitting very still and doing absolutely nothing for about five whole minutes. Emptying my brain and enjoying the sofa doing all the work to hold me up.

Or if there's no opportunity to do that, a strong cup of tea and a flapjack (or even better, flapjack mixture) do the trick.

HellonHeels · 07/05/2012 18:53

Going out on my bike, even a short ride. Getting out into nature, seeing birds or wildlife. Stroking my cats. Cleaning and housework.

Or for the less healthy option: comfort eating.

If I did more of the first section and less of the second I wouldn't be so bloody fat - learn from my poor example!

Hope you feel cheerier soon.
