Painting or making something takes me away from it all for a while. It makes me feel like my life has a bit more purpose and dimension to it. And I have something at the end that I will keep forever.

Or a bike ride in the rain is refreshing and makes me glad to be warm and cozy at home afterwards.

Or an M&S £10 dine in meal deal on a Saturday night - yum.

moonblushtomato · 07/05/2012 18:56

Cuddles from DH
Smiles from DC
lots and lots and lots of cups of tea with lots and lots and lots of biccies Smile
And to top it all off a great book at bedtime - currently Into the Darkest Corner by Elizabeth Haynes, fabulous!!

moonblushtomato · 07/05/2012 18:56

I second the M and S meal deal on a Saturday nite, cheap and very very spesh!!

duchesse · 07/05/2012 19:04

Berocca. Seriously. It's the only thing. That and the occasional paracetamol to shift the tiredness-induced headache.

cooey2 · 07/05/2012 19:05

knitting - as i have to sit down to do it and have to do at least a few rows before i get up
just joined today and i feel so much better knowing their are mums out there doing their mum bits, thanks for making me feel sane :)

duchesse · 07/05/2012 19:05

Oh and the weekly rowing session. I think exercise is key tbh.

moonblushtomato · 07/05/2012 19:13

Being thick... what is Berocca?? (it sounds like a delicious liqueurHmm)

Capitaltrixie · 07/05/2012 19:34

When I first see dd's face when she comes out of school, I am ridiculously excited at pick up time every day.

Running, a 10 km run clears my head and lifts my mood like nothing else.

My quarter of a glass of orange juice when I first wake up.

When my dc are safe and warm in bed and I sit down to watch something I have Sky plussed, preferably Mad Men but Game of Thrones or Grimm will do as well.

Nikkim30 · 07/05/2012 19:43

Going out for a coffee on my own. Makes me feel like a real person, not just wife and mum. I can people watch and sometimes have a little chat to someone new and nice.

SweetestThing · 07/05/2012 19:43

(apart from the yum-yum mentioned earlier), a run, walk on the Downs or a gym session will instantly lift my mood.

A nice cup of tea (and a sit-down)

The way that sometimes a text or email from someone who somehow senses that I need a bit of a boost.

lambbone · 07/05/2012 19:51

Riding my moped. Such fun!

fishandlilacs · 07/05/2012 19:56

Berocca is a vitamin pill www.berocca.co.uk/

My mug made by DD for mothers day this year, she's 4, she wrote the word "poo" in the bottom of it as a joke. Every time I reach the bottom of a cup of tea or coffee I smile-I remember having my first mothers day cup of tea in it and her literally wetting herself with excitement. "drink it faster mum, drink it all up"

Xmasbaby11 · 07/05/2012 19:58

going out for coffee and cake with a friend

oxeye · 07/05/2012 19:58

toast and nutella! nobody else in the house eats it but me

dementedma · 07/05/2012 20:02

an empty house, but it very rarely happens.
A Lush bubble bath, a glass of wine
DH on night shift so the bed to myself
An email from a friend
the feeling of achievement after a run and then a lovely shower

Springsister · 07/05/2012 20:06

Taking a shower with some lovely smelling shower gel.

Going out and getting some fresh air.

Driving while listening to music and singing along at the top of my voice.

A good moan to dh usually makes me feel better too :)

evilgiraffe · 07/05/2012 20:10

fishandlilacs - tell your DD that DH and I are giggling at the very thought of the "poo" mug! Grin

My little cheery moments often involve music (whatever I feel like at the moment), tea, a good book or story, and stroking my cat. My cat is lovably stupid and very good for cuddling even when she'd really rather I put her down

busyboysmum · 07/05/2012 20:20

Driving in the sun with shades on, windows open and the music turned up vv loud, singing along crazily.

Capitaltrixie · 07/05/2012 20:30

also chuckling about the 'poo' mug! brilliant Grin
guilty of the loud singing..out of tune in my case, but I love it!

Doing my Elle Macpherson exercise video - love it!

Watching The West Wing and drinking Rose Garden tea, eating Galaxy Caramel, mmmm

marriedinwhite · 07/05/2012 20:57

Badedas bath (reminds me of my grandma)
My best undies
A skinny, sugar free, hazelnut latte
A small glass of wine and vaughan williams the Lark Ascending
Drinking the small glass of wine listening to vaughan williams at my dressing table looking at the picture of me and my dad when I was three and next to the picture of dd who looked identical at that age.

marriedinwhite · 07/05/2012 20:59

The car thing listening to TRex. But not with the dc in the car. Have done it down the A3 much much to fast very early in the morning when very very angry.

coffeeinbed · 07/05/2012 21:00

My dog greeting me when I come home.
Birds on the bird feeder - little fat robins and goldfinches and bluetits.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/05/2012 21:26

Yum to Badedas. It's the only bubble bath that I can guarantee the dds won't steal because they hate the smell but I love it.
