Reading Chat magazine on the loo.

Feel-good music. I have a playlist of songs that cheer me up just for times this these.

Something to eat that feels like a treat but that won't make me too full and queasy - so not a whole pint of ice cream, but maybe a splash of cream in my coffee when I normally have it black, or really buttery toast with Marmite.

Cooking, either a stew or something for the freezer, or some nice easy baking. Fairy cakes are perfect for this because they're quick, piss easy and dead comforting. :) I've recently started baking my own bread again and that works too, as I can take my frustrations out by kneading the dough and then the house fills up with a lovely baking smell. Plus it makes me feel smug and productive.

A shower with lovely-smelling shower gel, clean sheets on the bed and (weirdly) changing into clean pants. Grin

A good light-hearted book that I can lose myself in.

My three year old DS cuddling up to me and saying, 'I miss you Mummy' or 'I love you Mummy'. Followed of course by blowing a raspberry in my face. Also my DH saying the same but without the mummy or raspberry bit!

ThePinkPussycat · 07/05/2012 23:45

Watching the Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical episode, 'Once More with Feeling'

Rustling up a batch of cheese scones and scoffing the lot eating a couple of them.

LadyBabsWalthamCuddles · 08/05/2012 00:33

Cheesy but, A big ol' toothless grin from 5mo DS.

Or snuggling with the DC watching some crap, when they fall asleep, I put Moulin Rouge on, snuggle back down with them and fall asleep halfway through, I always wake up happy from one of those sleeps

TheCinnamonGiraffe · 08/05/2012 08:35

A run.

A shower in the morning with the bathroom door shut.

Getting into a pair of jeans I haven't worn for since at least 2 pregnancies ago. Putting on the jeans with a nice pair of heels and tottering off out to lunch with a friend.

A nice big food order arriving. Sad but true.

Agree with the recommendations for singing! A howl along with the radio or an old favourite cheers me up no end.

Also a cup of tea with a cupcake or some cherry chocolate.

More edifyingly, a simple yoga posture or two: a lying twist (on back, arms out at shoulder height, knees bent over chest then lowered to the side. Stay for 5-8 breaths, bring legs back to centre and repeat to other side. 'Untwist' at the end by holding the knees and moving them slowly a few times into the chest then pushing them away).

Really refreshing, relaxing and reviving all at once.

dappleton · 08/05/2012 09:33

My horses (riding - not all the hard stuff that goes along with it) or a glass of wine!

titferbrains · 08/05/2012 10:33

Having an uninterrupted poo

Today is seventh anniversary of our engagement: DH whisked me off to Paris on the Eurostar and proposed at the top of the Eiffel Tower! That is making me really smile now. It does every year.

ppeatfruit · 08/05/2012 11:06

Putting on Mika or Abba music (high tempo) and dancing for a solid 15 mins before breakfast it makes me feel amazing AND loose weight (what could be better!)

Or a well softened bath of hot water to relax into with peppermint or lavender essential oils. Lovely.

cantpooinpeace · 08/05/2012 11:50

Titferbrains I feel your pain :)

fiventhree · 08/05/2012 11:54

A read or a bath, or gardening.

Cogito, I have seen the Ukelele band twice. They really are fun.

bumfunnel · 08/05/2012 13:29

walking the dogs!!

Poledra · 08/05/2012 13:43

Watching DH tickling DD3 - she's 3, and still has that deep throaty toddler chuckle that just makes everyone near her smile too. Unfortunately, the older DDs have moved past this into the 'squealing at a pitch that makes the local dogs howl' when tickled by their dad.

Chickalini · 08/05/2012 14:05

A nap
A good cup of tea
A long shower with many washings of hair
Seeing the sea
Laughing til I wet myself my sides hurt

loopydoo · 08/05/2012 14:16

A cup of tea whilst I'm cooking tea (which DCs usually end up not eating as they're fussy monkeys!). I seem to get a lull in my energy between 3-5 so I always switch on the light over the cooker as, for some reason, it makes me feel happier, make a cuppa and everything seems a bit better.

Or I sing! I love singing and it really lets you lose yourself for a while.

angrywoman · 08/05/2012 15:03

Vitality aromatherapy oil from neal's yard. Just discovered it! And vitality herbal tea's (various brands).

Weezie85 · 08/05/2012 16:58
