Snap leQ.

Bath, bed and book. It's my treat at the end of the bad day.

onelittlefish · 08/05/2012 17:58

Going to my local cafe and eating anything there (the food is divine) whilst looking out the window. This has to be followed by a trip to the book shop followed by a walk on the common. I always feel like life is not so bad after a good relax.

Fillybuster · 08/05/2012 18:17

DH bringing me a cup of tea in bed every morning. Its the nicest kindest most loving thing anyone could do for me first thing in the day (boy, am I bad at the whole waking up thing!) and makes me happy inside every day. Alhough I'm not very good at showing it....Hmm

Otherwise it's all about:

  • getting the dcs into bed then running a very large, very hot bubble bath, putting the music on so I can hear it in the bathroom, lining up my books/mags within reach on the floor, the phone in reach in case it rings,, a cup of tea/glass of wine and glass of water on the ledge and not reappearing for at least an hour. Joy.
  • seeing the horses in the field outside my house makes my heart sing (when they are there)....we live in London :)
  • buying a new bottle of bubble bath
  • digging out an old 'loud' album from my rock days and belllowing along to Metallica/Ministry etc
  • a nap
  • you lot on Mumsnet. Seriously, MN has given my some great lifts on some lousy days.....I luff you all Grin

An enormous line of coke. Works every time. Smile

Going up the allotment. I don't get enough chance for exercise with a 2 year old, and a couple of hours weed-clearing and poo hauling really sorts me out.

AND eating my produce when I come back! Wilted spinach with dinner tonight, and I'm just pondering stewing some of the rhubarb for pudding....

LimitedAppeal · 08/05/2012 19:49

Poo hauling?? How do you chit those? Grin

Sat here saying 'yes' to so many of the simple pleasures already mentioned.

For me:

DH unexpectedly getting some time off work (not due to illness) and being able to spontaneously go for out for a couple of hours for lunch.

In fact any impromptu trip.

Getting something nice in the post - a proper letter, card, postcard, parcel from Amazon etc.

Sitting in the window seat watching the tractor in the field opposite the house.

Watching birds on the bird-feeder when I'm doing the dishes and listening to the radio.

Dancing to silly songs on youtube with the children.

Having a tidy house - if only for half an hour!

Having enough time to have an interruption free bath and manage to do all the things like defuzzing, plucking eyebrows etc. Then slathering on cocoa butter. Climbing into a lovely bed with clean bed sheets too obviously. Bliss.

DH going out to buy something essential from the shop that we need and coming back with a little treat for me - a chicken tikka roll or a Sloppy Giuseppe pizza or Kinder Bueno :P

Putting my twin toddlers in the car and taking them for a drive until they fall asleep then finding somewhere nice to stop - either in the shade of the trees by the river or the viewing spot on top of the hill or just by the cricket field near my children's school and sitting, listening to the radio or an audio book and having a coffee in a thermos mug!

Reading - anywhere as long as I know I won't be interrupted :) I love going to cafes alone too but never get any reading done as I'm too nosey and people watch.

Waking up knowing the babies slept through!

Coops79 · 08/05/2012 20:43

Currently carsharing into work with DH. Every morning we get into the car grumpy, snappy and tired. Then we drive past the cows with the comedy horns and my hubby does his special "horny cow" signal. Cheers me up every time.

coffeeinbed · 08/05/2012 20:47

My goldfinches are back after a couple of days of absence. Dog's holding hands and snoring at my side. I'm sitting on the floor because he doesn't like my sofa.
Can't stop smiling.

minxthemanx · 08/05/2012 20:49

Starbucks sofa with a book.

tristessed · 08/05/2012 22:12

booze and fags (not literally but dreaming of days gone by!) x

inmysparetime · 09/05/2012 12:34

Getting ludicrously overdressed and sitting in a cafe reading a book on my own.
Finding one of the chocolates I hid round the house after Christmas.
Singing loudly and badly to stuff like "walking on sunshine" or "it's raining men" while in public with headphones on (those songs don't need to be playing, it just has to look like they are)
Picking the first fruit from my garden.

PavlovtheCat · 09/05/2012 12:40

some good music.
blue cheese and crackers
going for a walk
having a soak in the bath with lovely smellies/face pack etc.
tidying the bedroom so it is spotless and beautiful and going back to bed to watch dvds/surf the 'net.

Tulipsforever · 09/05/2012 13:39

Taking a bath, without the child monitors!

SweetieLyns · 09/05/2012 15:44

Depending on my mood it got to be a good nap, a good book or a bit of music turned up loud and jump about for a few minutes (better done when the rest of the family are out as they find mum dancing hilarious!) :)

Yummymummyyobe1 · 09/05/2012 21:07

Me, my DP and DS1 (10 days old today) all snuggling up together in the morning before we start the day. xx

Duritzfan · 09/05/2012 21:23

an afternoon nap with my gorgeous furry maine coon - listening to him purr is the best :)
or yoga...
or a hug from dh ... ( aaaah)

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 09/05/2012 21:30

Agree with quite a few of you on the bath, bed, book combo.

Also love the unconditional love from my dog, the sight of him happily trotting ahead of me on a walk always gives me a lift, and when I collect ds from school and get a big hug from him.

Coffee cake and chat with friends, having a bunch of flowers on my dining table, nice smells, reading interesting articles in paper, lighting a candle in the evening.

Thanks for this thread, it really is a good reminder that there are so many little moments to be happy about.

TalkinPeace2 · 09/05/2012 22:53
